Ok so I have written out the history of the Olde World, in how it came to be. Warning, a lot of it is inspired on both my own religious beliefs and those of the world. I mean no offense, but there are many parallels with the religions of the world and some may not like it. That being said I thought that some of you might find this interesting, I make many vague references to earlier civilizations, the reason they are vague is because in the Olde World they are mostly forgotten. If you want to use this in the RP then likely only Angels and Demons would know it. So I hope you enjoy and please tell me what you think.
In the beginning there was the Heavens and the Netherworld and the world was barren and had no name. Feanor and Lolth were brother and sister and saw this world with great potential. They decided to use their great power to create beings to inhabit this world. Feanor, who valued wisdom had these creatures become wise, and Lolth valued beauty so she created them as beautiful. This is how the Elves came into being. When they were finished they agreed that their creations were perfect, but the world in which they lived was barren and needed to be changed as well. So they began creating the rivers and oceans, the forests and fields, and the sun, moon, and stars.
Their work soon drew the attention of the other gods and goddesses, and soon they too wished to create and add to this world. Svartr loved creating, and tinkering and thus he created a race that held similar values, this race became the Dwarves. Catalan was very miserly and he did not wish to be left out so he created the race of Dragons in his image. Unngoy liked violence and intimidating others below him, and he thought that others should feel the same pleasures he felt, so he created the races of Giants, Trolls, Ogres, Orcs, and Goblins so that there would be oppressors and servants. Tzeentch was a cowardly god who was always worried he was outnumbered by his fellow deities and so he created a race that would never be outnumbered by any other: the race of the Ratmen. Slanneesh did not much care to create something to watch over like the others, he wanted to be worshipped and adored and so he created the Slann, or perhaps better known as the Lizardmen, to worship him ceaselessly.
Finally the three gods, Sigmar, Helm, and the Lady of the Lake met together and saw what their fellow gods were doing to the world and knew that if not stopped the world in it's fresh beauty could be torn apart by bloodshed between the races that held such different values. So they decided to make one race, to unify all the others, or at least to keep the world in balance. This race would be great warriors, who could have bravery in the face of certain doom, they would be strong and powerful, and wise to outthink their enemy when strength alone was not enough, they would have the knowledge of honor so that they did not use that power wrongly. But because they feared their creations might overpower all the others they made their race with no inclination toward any one goal, thus they would always be divided. This race was the race of Men.
And with both the world and the Races that inhabited it finished the gods came together to decide upon a name for this world. All of them wanted something different, but in the end "Aluin" was picked, for it meant, "balance" in the tongue of the heavens. For a time the world was perfectly balanced as it's name implied, but while bathing in their own glory and vanity they became deceived. In the Netherworld, the dark god Skorne lurked and watched, he had once been with the others, but when wished to become ruler over all the other gods he was forced out of Heaven. But he did not go quietly. A great war was raged, and the Angels and Demons were created to fight it. In the end Skorne and his Demons were defeated and forced to live beneath the world, to show that they were less than the barren wasteland that had lain above at that time. After the war the legions of Angels did very little, except assist their divine leaders in their works. But Skorne saw great potential in this new world of Aluin. He created new Demons, ones that could hide even from the eyes of the Angels and slowly began sending them into the world above to sow seeds of chaos. The Demons were created to be masters of their art of manipulation and indeed they were masters. The Races began fighting amongst each other and in Heaven above the battles in Aluin began distancing the respective gods from each other. And soon after that Angels were sent to protect the creations of the gods in battle, but when they encountered an Angel of an opposing race they had to fight each other. Thus a new war of the heavens began. The war raged for eons but an Alliance between Feanor, Lolth, Svartr, Sigmar, Helm, and the Lady overwhelmed the Angels of all the others. In the end Unngoy, Tzeentch, and Slanneesh were all forced down into the Netherworld as well. Catalan, who only cared for his own belongings remained neutral, as did his race of the Dragons in Aluin, and thus he stayed in Heaven and mostly ignored the conflict of the others.
Skorne welcomed the newly fallen gods with open arms, never telling them how he conspired to bring them down with him. Skorne and the fallen gods then decided to ally together to continue the conflict that had been started in Heaven, but this time the battlefield would be Aluin. They let their creations be, and whenever conflicts broke out between the races they would watch over them and fight the Angels that protected their enemy's creations. And after millennia this is how things came to be.
Skorne however continued to plot on destroying the remaining gods in heaven. When an Elvish king with twin sons died of old age in Ellyrion he saw his opportunity. The son that was picked to lead was very wise, whereas his brother was considered the most handsome man in the world. Feanor quickly took a liking to the new king, but Lolth of course liked the Prince. When one of Skorne's servants convinced the Prince, who was quite vain as well as beautiful, that he should be king instead of his brother the Prince began trying to become king. The Demon convinced the Prince to launch a coup against his brother, but it failed and resulted in a civil war among the Elves. Since Feanor and Lolth both adored the opposing brothers they too became opposed against each other and their Angels fought against each other as well. In the end Feanor and his Angels won out against Lolth. Lolth, who was so hurt and distraught at feeling betrayed by her brother left Heaven with all her Angels and descended into the Netherworld and in Aluin the defeated Elvish Prince and his followers left Ellyrion to form their own kingdom, they would later become known as the Dark Elves or Drow which means "Fallen" in the Elvish tongue. In the Netherworld Lolth's heartbreak of feeling betrayed turned into hatred, and that hatred led to her wanting nothing but revenge. She decided to go against her brother's wisdom and became a goddess of lust in spite of him, and the Drow followed her example and became a culture of corruption and decadence based only on personal gratification in anyway possible.
Next Skorne sought to disrupt the world of Men, which was annoyingly well unified. He gave the gift of Undeath to a Human kingdom in the far east, teaching them how to reanimate the dead and extend life. But they desired more than just life, for although their soul remained their bodies continued to decay. So he gave a young priestess the gift of immortality that she desired so much and she became the first Vampire. She quickly grew in power as she bestowed her gift of true immortality upon others. But as time progressed neighboring kingdoms learned of the horrid truth of the Vampires and waged war against them. The living greatly outnumbered the Undead and were able to expel them from the region. The Vampires migrated west and found new lands to spread their evil curse in. Unknowingly doing Skorne's bidding wherever they went.
Skorne also created the curse of the Werewolf and bestowed it on a group of humans who prayed to him for great power. In a twist of ironic fate the Werewolves became natural enemies of Vampires, something that Skorne did not intend, but he enjoyed it when it happened.
Skorne still desired to separate Sigmar, Helm, and the Lady further. So he convinced the Unngoy to have his Orc and Goblin creations to migrate to a region that held a large Human population in the north, this was the land that would later become known as Mordiheim. The constant invasions of Orcs cut off the Humans of the north off from those in the south in Brettonia. Nothing seemed to be able to stop the greenskins because of their great strength and numbers. Sigmar watched this constant conflict and eventually had had enough and decided to become a Man himself and descend to Aluin to fight along side his creations. Helm and the Lady disapproved of this idea but in the end conceded to him, but on the condition that he would have no memory of his self being a god while he was a Man. Sigmar agreed.
Sigmar was born just like all Humans are, and he grew up as a mostly normal child, except that even at a young age he was very strong and fast and intelligent. When he became an Adult he became a warrior like all men in that region. He led his fellow warriors in epic battles against the hordes of greenskins and in every battle he won, no matter how greatly he was outnumbered. Unngoy saw this but he refused to become an Orc because he did not want to risk being oppressed. As Sigmar slowly led the Humans in pushing the Orcs back to the mountains his renown drew the attention of the Dwarves who were also fighting a war against the Orcs. In exchange of Sigmar's help they gave him their greatest creation: the Warhammer of Sigmar. They also taught the Humans the art of metal working and how to construct great stone buildings. With this new knowledge that the Orcs did not have the Humans were able to create superior weapons and defensible cities. After only a couple decades the Orcs had been completely pushed them out of the forested northland. Through this war Sigmar united the people of the north into one kingdom and he founded the Kingdom of Mordiheim. With their alliance with the Dwarves, Mordiheim built great cities, the greatest being Altdorf which became the capital of Mordiheim. At this time Sigmar was only 40 years of age. Sigmar married a Human woman and they had many children, thus founding the dynasty of Mordiheim with a divine lineage. When Sigmar died the kingdom that he created declared him a god, even though they did not know he already was one. Upon his death Sigmar returned to Heaven with his restored knowledge and declared that Mordiheim would be the kingdom that he would watch over with his Angels, and he would protect any others that followed the religion that worshipped him.
Helm and the Lady of the Lake did not approve of this, they believed that all of Humanity should be watched over equally, but Sigmar had developed an ego during his time of being a Human and so they could not dissuade him from his course of action. The kingdom to the south of Mordiheim refused to worship Sigmar since he had never helped them fight back the Orcs that tried to enter their lands. They unified separately from Mordiheim, but in a similar way, and became the Kingdom of Brettonia. The Lady revealed herself to the King of Brettonia and taught him how to lead his unified people. Her teachings developed Brettonia into a country based on duty and honor, with the Lady as a symbol of the perfect ruler to serve, and Helm as the perfect servant.
Other Kingdoms of Men came into being as well, Keslev in the far north was greatly influenced by Sigmarite missionaries. Estalia was too far south for the missionaries to effectively spread their religion and Brettonia did not believe and forcing their beliefs upon others, thus Estalia developed separately. Their rich lands provided them with much gold and they became a kingdom based on money and trade. They saw the other gods of the world and a group of Estalians decided to create a god based on the values of their land. They named their god Tal Shair, and in that instance when their god was created a new god was born in Heaven to become their beliefs. Tal Shair was weaker than the gods that had created the world, but he was still strong enough to be respected by the others.
Other gods were similarly created as Tal Shair, but their followers all but died out as time passed and so their Angels left them to serve others. These gods became known as the Old Ones and only live to remember their days when they were respected in Heaven as well. Some look at Tal Shair with envy, but the wiser ones know that one day Tal Shair will be with them too.
This is how the world as it is has come into being. The time that the written word has existed is but a small fraction of the time that the world was existed and many of these tales are all but forgotten, or were never known in the first place. And perhaps in another eon this will all be forgotten again.
