Is our drinking age a good thing? Should we have a drinking age? Is it good to have a drinking age?

well i voted unsure because in Communion you cannot substitute wine for grape juice its a sacrement that should not be taken lightly. but i do believe its a good thing because the people around my neighborhood wouldnt think twice before getting drunk. someone in my town has already been arrested for chewing tabbaco i think the drinking age should be kept the same and posibly rose a year or two.

I think it is good to have a drinking age. It keeps alcohol out of the hands of kids. Maybe that's just another nanny state law, but I think it's a good one. Personally, though, I think the age should rise to 25. Why? Because that's about the time the brain stops developing. Alcohol messes with brain development, and kills off brain cells. Yeah.

It should be a state by state thing but the feds threaten to take 10% of highway repair funds if states dont inforce it. its bullying yet completly constitutional, one of congresses powers is to pressure states to pass certain legislation or or lose federal funds.

The reason I asked is becasue me and my dad were discussing this the other day. If there is a drinking age it should be younger. And this is mine and my dad's theory here. We now about the issue because half of our towns population would be considered alcoholics. We keep the beer industry running round here.

Anyway the theory for a lower drinking age is:...

In human nature when you're told not to do something it makes you want to do it more right? Right. Such as putting your finger to a flame to see if it really hurts as much as they say. So if you introduce alcohol when kids are young they learn and aren't tempted to break rules because there wouldn't be a rule against it. Why do you think colleges were starting to think about petitioning to lower the drinking age?

Not being able to have alcohol does seem to make it more alluring (though this hasn't really been the case with me, or the oven/flame analogy. awareness of heat didn't have to happen through experience) but not only that I find it should be whatever the age to be sent to war is. Your life is the country's, not really your's.
