'So,' thought Tristan, only curious in the wya a cat was interested in anything besides food and warmth. 'This is the park, huh?'
Children ran across the grass; couples walked arm-in-arm; elderly couples sat on park benches like something out of a birthday card for the Over The Hill crowd. If it didn't exactly make Tristan nauseous, it wasn't doing any favors for his WAFF intake.
"If someone doesn't get into a loud argument over taxes or push another kid down," said Tristan suddenly, "I think I'm going to go into diabetic shock."
Mytha shot him the deadpan look that Tristan was rapidly becoming familiar with as her glare, and when he looked back unrepentantly Mytha said nothing. Tristan had a moment to think about how lucky he was to have a female partner that didn't manhandle him, and then Mytha turned her head so swiftly that her long, heavy braid caught Tristan on the neck.
Glowering darkly and wondering why said partner had to be almost the same height as him, Tristan forced himself not to rub the injured area, instead settling for a casual, "So, how about those ducks?"

The ducks were really not the reason why they were here. Though roast duck would be a good dish to serve tonight. The thought crossed Lucien's head more than once as he stood by the pond, a discreet distance away from Z and the man he was currently speaking to. A quick glance over showed that the two were near to completing their deal, and Lucien suppressed a sigh of relief as he once again took a quick sidestep away from another overly inquisitive duck. He hadn't had to come, and normally he wouldn't have, he'd been meaning to ask Z about his rather overly thoughtful behavior lately, and it had seemed like a perfect chance.
Not that he'd managed to get much out of the WEAPON, other than a distinctly vague comment about him having 'met someone' with a viewpoint that seemed to challenge his own. It was not a particularly helpful comment, considering that Lucien had yet to meet anyone whose values and lifestyle didn't contradict with Z's, including himself.
"How'd it go?" Lucien brought his thoughts back to the present as Z came back within hearing distance, though he could tell that their meeting had been a success from the small bag his partner was carrying loosely in one hand. The purpose of today's trip had been to obtain a few samples of new items that they could sell in #7, though they'd have to test it before offering it for sale. "Did they have that sleep potion you were looking for from last time?"
Z's nod was curt, though one corner of his lips curled upwards in amusement as he noted Lucien's continuous edging away from the side of the lake and the ducks that seemed to plague him. "Yeah." His words confirmed his amusement as he went on, "looks like your charm even applies to animals." The toe of one boot nudged one of the offending birds, causing it to quack and flap awkwardly back to the water, and Z snickered. "What now?"
