The Nocturnes Created by: Colton Williams Chapter I
11:43 P.M., a news report unraveling the events after the victory in Iraq. There is still grim events going on in the world, North Korea and Russia are prepared to launch their nuclear weapons on the world by next week at midnight. As the report continued, two elderly men in suits asked questions to an elderly scientist about this catastrophe saying unless the United States continue to pressure the two nations into holding their fire, mankind is doomed. As reports of Armageddon continue to be revealed, an elderly man, with a goatee sits and watches, muttering to himself, “This is what happens when the most powerful man on Earth locks himself away from society. Hiding equals apocalypse.” As he watched a person knocked on the door. “Who is it now? Trick or treaters? Those damn kids better leave me alone, I’m watching something important right now!” He answers the door, “Hello?” The man is punched in the face. He then punches the burglar back but misses him and hits the wall. The burglar kicks and punches him and shoves him up against the wall. He breaks the window, and he throws him out and he lands on the building next to his apartment. Beaten up, he gets back up and punches him but he grabs his wrist and holds him down and shoots him in the head. The burglar leaves, triumphantly. “Loose ends have to be tied up…”
2:35 A.M., a slim and shadowy figure, with an evolving moon crescent and evolving white eyes on his mask, walks down the alleyway and thinks to himself, Here I am, walking down this sidewalk with these morons being greedy and materialistic. To think I used to walk among these bastards. With all this teenage pop and commercialism taking over the world. All this of being accustomed to this will lead up to over use of pornography and mass murder. And all those that have done this will be wrapped up in this and cry for help…and I’ll look down at all these people and say to them, “Find another savior”. People nowadays follow in the footsteps of the selfish. They’re only looking for incentives to do the right thing, instead of the instinct to just do it. People should have followed after people like my father. As he kept thinking to himself, he found a handgun on the sidewalk and examined it, This is the Counselor’s pistol, why is it here? He manipulated the shadows and crawled up the building until he found a broken window. The figure investigated the house until he stumbled upon a closet with the Counselor’s costume and weapons. This shocked him he had no idea that Joshua Higgins was the Counselor. I remember that dirtbag all too well. He was a murderer, a sociopath, a psychopath, and, most important of all, unhelpful. This guy didn’t give a damn about anyone. I can imagine why someone wanted to kill this guy. Out of all the thousands of people living in here, this guy had to be on the hit list of this serial killer’s mind. How spectacular. He teleported to the next building to see the Counselor’s corpse. Hmm…well, well, well, I never thought I’d see you like this, old friend. The man teleported himself and the Counselor away.
3:21 A.M., The figure walked down the road to an old friend’s house. As he walked, the figure was approached by several apocalyptic and religious men, foretelling of God’s wrath on Earth. He ignored them because as long as he was alive, he wasn’t going to let it happen. This man was once a hero everyone loved but ever since the events causing Congress to pass a Superhuman Registration Act, everyone had turned against him and his team, The Nocturnes. In spite of this, The Nocturnes broke up and went their separate ways. Where he was headed, he was going to meet up with an old friend and an old teammate. The door was locked, so he had no choice but to phase through it. He sat down and ate burritos until a middle-aged, slightly overweight man with brown hair walked in the door. “Duskcrawler? What are you doing here?” “I’m here to explain something to you. I’m sure you want to hear this.” “Well, alright, tell me what is it?” the man looked at him and his burritos, noticing they were cold. “You’re eating burritos cold, you don’t want those heated up?” “They’re fine the way it is. Look at this.” He passed his friend the handgun, “Recognize it?” “Yeah, it’s the Counselor’s pistol. What happened to him?” “A really strong burglar beat him, threw him to the next building, then shot him in the head.” “Brutal.” “I can bet you watched the news about Joshua Higgins’s death. Well, Joshua Higgins was the Counselor.” “Are you kidding me?” “If I was kidding, I wouldn’t have walked all the way down here to talk to you about the Counselor’s murder.” “Funny, Duskcrawler. I mean sure the two were alike, but I could never tell the two were one and the same.” “I couldn’t either, I never really cared about who they really were.” “Why are you concerned over the Counselor’s death? You never had emotions or sentiment.” “It’s because if the killer targeted him, the killer might target other superheroes, active or retired. That includes you.” “That’s absurd, even for you.” “I know, Samson. There’s only one thing we should do.” “I don’t like what you’re suggesting. The Nocturnes are gone forever. History.” “Says society.” “Says the team.” “Not me.” “Obviously. You’re more bent on enforcing your morals on people than saving a life. That’s The Nocturnes were all about.” “No we weren’t. We were about making this world a better place and I haven’t backed down from that goal, but you have.” “I had no choice, I would’ve ended up like you being hunted down by the police. I had to live a normal life.” “This is normal? It’s an absurd life, where everyone stares at their pornography and smokes all the damn weed. You want to live like that?” “I’m not sure.” “Not sure? You should make up your mind. I already have.” “Go, I think we’re done talking.” “Fine, I’ll inform the others…Behemoth of the Night.” “Don’t call me that, I’m just Samson Rino, now.”
3:49 A.M., Duskcrawler walked to an abandoned military base to meet the most powerful man on Earth, Nocturnal Titan. He walked inside and saw a coffin, that left Nocturnal Titan in a state of suspended animation. Duskcrawler transformed into a shadow and phased through the coffin and entered his mind. Upon entering his mind, everything was black and white like an old movie. And I thought my mind was black and white, but this is worse. I heard that Duskcrawler. A bald man with glowing silver skin and glowing red eyes appeared to him. “Greetings, Duskcrawler.” “Hello, Titan. I’m sure you know why I’m here.” “To inform me about the Counselor’s death.” “Yes.” “I know the Counselor was murdered by a burglar and you want me to look into the future.” “Exactly.” “Unfortunately, I am unable to. There is some disturbance from nuclear particles in the air.” “Damn it.” “I am sorry, Duskcrawler, there is nothing I can do. You have to leave, now.” “Now wait I came a long way-“ “Good bye, Duskcrawler.” “-to get in here and I’m not leaving…until I get my say? Urgh.” Duskcrawler walked down to an old rundown asylum to meet up with someone who absolutely hates his guts and cannot understand him. He had no choice but to talk to her, he might be able to prepare her for the burglar. As he walked in, he shapeshifted into Samson and asked one of the workers which room she was in. The lady showed him the room and then left. He then changed back into his shadowy form. Lights shined on him making him unable to phase through the door. Because of this, he kicked the door in with rage. “Sweet Revenger are you in here!” “Go away. I don’t want to talk to you.” “Neither do I but I have to inform you about something.” “Leave now.” “Or what you’re going to send your horny mother after me? You and her are no threat to me at all.” “Fine, I guess I’ll listen,” she walked towards him, “You have five minutes to explain.” “The Counselor’s dead along with other innocent people.” “He did? Like I could care about him. He raped my mother, Joshua Higgins deserved to die.” “I really don’t care if you hated him or not. He was one of us. An attack of one of The Nocturnes is an assault on all The Nocturnes, Sweet Revenge.” “Forget it, I’m done with superhero business. And, because I’m out of the superhero business, I’m not to be called Sweet Revenge anymore, I’m juts Alice Hussie, now.” “I understand that but you may be next target for this serial killer, Alice.” “Get out now.” “Nice talking to you.” “Shut up and leave!” Duskcrawler walked out and shapeshifted into Samson again to stay under the radar. When he left the building, he changed back. 5:30 A.M. Duskcrawler teleported to an influential millionaire’s condo. The businessman worked on his laptop behind his desk and heard a familiar noise that didn’t surprise him. He knew who it was, Duskcrawler. “Hello, Duskcrawler. Have a seat.” “Hello, Ramesses the Impaler. Have you heard about Joshua Higgins’s death?” “Yes. That was very tragic.” “Do you happen to know that Joshua was the Counselor?” “No, I had no idea that Mr. Higgins was our former teammate.” “Neither did I until I investigated his apartment.” “You investigated his apartment? Geez, you really are a crook.” “Shut up, Vlad.” “Sorry, Duskcrawler. You want me to put my old costume on and investigate this matter.” “You took the words right out of my mouth.” “I can’t. I have a lot of business to attend to.” “What’s with everyone, but me cowering out on this matter.” “We’re not cowering out, we’re just moving on with our lives. Someday, you’re going to have to remove that mask.” “God damn it, why won’t any of you listen.” “You’ll be leaving now, Duskcrawler.” “Fine, I don’t want to interrupt your work.” “Good, Duskcrawler.” Duskcrawler phased through the door and shapeshifted into one of the workers. As he left, he transformed back into his shadowy form and said to himself, “******** this modern day society. Everyone thinks they’re making this world a better place, but they’re just ruining it. It’s no wonder doomsday’s approaching our world. To hell with those cowards, I’ll just do it on my own.” He walked down the alleyway and changed into a shadow to remain undetected by anyone. One top of a building, the burglar looked at Duskcrawler and whispered to himself, “Phase 2 of my plan is complete…”

Chapter II
6:32 A.M. Duskcrawler walked into the Counselor’s apartment a second time to check if he had any associates or opponents. As he traveled there, a black haired woman approached him and asked for his money. He ignored her and trudged on. The woman shouted at him and gave him the finger. Still, he just walked along, pretending like she wasn’t there. After much walking from Drake Industries, he made it back there. He once again investigated the room to find that an old enemy of his named Daytime Horror was the last one to see him. Duskcrawler looked in his phonebook to find his address and saw that he was near NE 80th Street. Jumping out of the window, he teleported to NE 80th Street. Duskcrawler found his apartment and phased through the door. He walked up the stairs until he found his room. There was absolutely nothing in there, except a refrigerator, a couch, and an old TV with antennas on it. He teleported away. 8:35 A.M. was the Counselor’s funeral. Vlad, Samson, and Daytime Horror were the only ones there. As the minister spoke, Samson went back into his memories when they were a team. There was a riot outside with the police trying to settle it down. The Nocturnes were aboard Ramesses the Impaler’s airship, The Boat of Ra. When they approached the situation, the riot was so out of control that the crowd was shooting at them and the police telling them to get out. This pissed off the Counselor and he jumped out with a Winchester Model 1895 looking at the crowd. He aimed his rifle at the crowd and fired. This made some of the rioters cower. Even some of the cops ran away. As the Counselor slaughtered the rioters, Behemoth of the Night attempted to stop him, but couldn’t. The Counselor shouted at him saying, “Haven’t this much blood spilled since I was in Iraq.” “This isn’t Iraq, this is Tacoma.” “You moron, these people are no different than those ******** Arabs back in the Middle East.” Behemoth paused for a second. “Don’t you get, the world has humans that need help and I’m here giving them therapy for their god damn problems. You always tell me that we can protect society and that we can save it.” “From what!” “From themselves.” “Look at us, what’s happened? Why have we become so violent? Why have these people come to hate and disown us? What happened to all that we lived for and stood for? “Stood for, are you that naïve? We never stood for anything. You thought we were, but we never were.” The rest of the team got out and calmed the crowd down. Nocturnal Titan teleported them all away to their homes. 8:40 A.M. Vlad also went back into his past with the Counselor. He remembers starting a team with heroes he thought were trustworthy. The only one he thought was competent was Behemoth of the Night. Although he did respect his teammates to some degree, he had no respect for the Counselor. Ramesses questioned himself for forming a team of “illogical vigilantes.” He recalled one of the meetings they had and the Counselor ruined it. “You see, we are today to discuss the ongoing threat of the nuclear Armageddon. As this problem continues to surface, we need a plan to end this and to make sure that we don’t have another war.” “Excuse me but if it’s imminent then there’s nothing we can do it about it.” “Am I the only one identifying the problem here?” “No, you’re just addressing it to these idiots here. How are we going to stop this if they’re just going to build more? What we do to stop this will be pointless.” “It’ll be for justice!” Duskcrawler growled. “For justice? Hahaha! You’re kidding me, right?” The Counselor grabbed a map of the world and displayed it. “As you all know, President Bush is up there, doing absolutely nothing to fix this problem. And we’re here discussing a meaningless resolution. And in a few years, we’ll all be dust.” The Counselor crumbled the map up, tore it apart, and then burned it. “And Ramesses’s idea of “saving the world” will mean nothing. As will Duskcrawler’s upbringing of justice on society.” 8:49 A.M. both Vlad and Samson’s memories of the Counselor proved that he had his death coming. Even though they were at the funeral, paying their final respects to him, they felt no sympathy for him. They carried the casket into the hearse and left. 9:24 A.M. Alice was in her room, starring at the walls looking back into her past. She remembered a tall man had walked into her house and argued with her mother. Alice couldn’t remember who it was, but she didn’t care who it was or what they said. All she knew was they were fighting over something. Then she went back in 1996 when she first put on her costume. She saw a child getting kidnapped and decided to go and save the kid. To her horror, he was one of the many children kidnapped and being used for child pornography. She broke the door in and took down the photographers and left them for the police. She then took on the name, “Sweet Revenge.” Because of her beauty, many criminals and supervillains often gave up to her. Some were strong willed and fought her. Alice recalled a time when she was almost raped by a muscular man with a long moustache. He was too strong for her, but a tiger jumped up and scratched him in the back. The man transformed into his human form and said to her, “Well, I’m not the only then.” “Lucky you.” “Hey I just saved your a**. I thank you would be nice.” “Thank you.” The man transformed into a tarantula and duplicated himself and bit him all over, poisoning him. They left the strong crook for the cops. After the fight, the man took off his hood and lifted a hand. “Hi, I’m Behemoth of the Night, what superhero are you?” “Sweet Revenge.” “Right. Weren’t you the one that stopped those photographers?” “Yes.” “Heroic. I like it! We should-.” “No.” “Oh come on, it’d be fun for us both.” “I said no.” “Geez, grumpy I guess I’m going to leave.” Alice went back into the time when she was invited into The Nocturnes. She wasn’t thrilled, but she did accept so that she could get her revenge on criminals. Noticing this, Ramesses didn’t like that trait and tried to help her. She refused his helping hand. After the meeting, the Counselor talked to her. “So, you’re Sweet Revenge.” “Yes, I am.” “Well, kid, that’s not a bad name.” “I’m not a superhero for the names.” “I know you’re in for it for justice.” “No.” “For heroism?” “No.” “Let me take a guess, revenge?” “You can say that.” “Well, b***h, I don’t see the whole point of getting even with these ********. Did they ever cross you?” “Not really.” “Not really? You-.” “Alice get your a** in the car!” her mother shouted, “You stay away from this man!” Alice did what her mother told her to do and got in her Suburban. She argued with the Counselor outside. “Listen, you may have crossed me, but you’re not crossing her.” “How was I crossing her.” “You know how.” “That was years ago, I’m sorry.” “Sorry doesn’t make up for anything.” She stomped off and left. She went back into the time when the Superhuman Registration Act was passed. She was happy because she thought about what the Counselor said about fighting for a lost cause. This gave her a chance to atone for it. How she ended up where she’s was at was because of people forcibly putting her there. She resented them and felt true revenge. 8:14 P.M. Duskcrawler snuck into the cemetery to pay his final respects to his late teammate. He whispered, “I’ll find out who murdered you. I promise, even though you probably don’t deserve it. I will figure out who’s killed you and all those innocent civilians. This one’s for all the old times, old friend.” He transformed into a shadow and left the cemetery. Duskcrawler teleported back to Daytime Horror’s apartment. The elderly man appeared and looked into the refrigerator. He saw a pepperoni pizza in there and ate it. Daytime looked into the cardboard, and saw a moon crescent that said “TuRn ArOuNd” on the cardboard. Daytime Horror turned around and saw a shadowy man with the full moon crescent on his chest. He grabbed him and shoved him up against the fridge. “Enjoyed the pepperoni pizza?” “Yes.” “Thought I’d be a little generous.” “Thanks.” “I didn’t know a supervillain could be grateful for anything.” “I’m not a criminal anymore.” “I’ll make this clear. Why did you attend the Counselor’s funeral? You and him were enemies for decades.” “Ok we were. But I felt I should respect my old enemy.” “And?” “And the Counselor told me something that I couldn’t quite grasp.” “What was it?” “Something about Apocalypse and an island and an invasion from some entity.” “That’s it?” “No, he had his mask off and he confided to me to tell everyone I knew.” “And you didn’t, did you?” “I couldn’t understand what he said, he confused me.” “You still should’ve told the truth.” “I didn’t know what to do!” “It was simple tell everyone what you heard.” Duskcrawler walked over to his couch to see a few papers on the couch. They were mostly bills. “Having trouble paying these bills?” “Yes, I’m suffering from AIDS.” “You are?” “Yes.” “Well, that’s tragic. I’m going to investigate, but you’re still on my suspects list, but you don’t seem likely.” Duskcrawler phased through the window and jumped towards the building. He walked over to Samson’s house, but ran into a man in an all black leather suit with a hood and a blindfold covering his face. He had a gun in his right hand and a knife in his right. Duskcrawler stood defensively demanding, “Who are you!” “I am simply a killer,” he spoke in a hoarse voice. “I’m simply here to put you out of your misery.” “Try me, b*****d.” “I will.” The man ran towards Duskcrawler and ran through him. “Pathetic, I am intangible.” He turned around with a flashlight and turned the light into a spotlight. The killer jumped and stabbed him with a knife in the shoulder. Duskcrawler jumped into the shadows and regenerated his wound. “You should know that I’m almost impossible to kill.” “That was nothing.” Duskcrawler teleported behind him and punched him. He then turned his hands into boxing gloves and beat him. “Ow,” the killer said. The killer lunged at him but missed. Duskcrawler sank into the shadows and attached himself to the wall. He jumped at the killer and took a piece of shadow and turned it into a pistol. Duskcrawler shot at him but missed and the killer shined the flashlight on him. The killer took his knives and threw at him. He caught most of the knives and threw them back at him. One of the knives hit him in the neck, but Duskcrawler pulled the blade out and threw at him. He jumped into the shadows and healed his injuries. “Now you’re annoying me.” “Like you’re not being an annoyance to me.” Duskcrawler manipulated all the darkness in the area to incapacitate him but the killer disappeared. “Damn it, what’s with everyone disappearing. No worries, I’ll figure this all out and stop whatever he’s planning.” He transformed into a shadow and oozed into the sidewalks. “That was just a distraction, Duskcrawler. Oh, Shadow of Seattle, you’ll feel more confusion because one day all of you will know who I am.”

Chapter III
10:00 P.M. Alice decided to leave the asylum to meet with her former teammates, again. She opened the door to her room and left the asylum. Alice was determined to leave that all behind. As Alice strolled around, she immediately went to Samson’s house. Hearing a knocking at the door, Samson opened the door. He was surprised when he saw Alice out of the asylum. “Alice? What are you doing here?” “I decided to leave that dusty old place.” “Well it’s good to know you finally know that you’re wanted by friends.” “Odd, you’ve lost your sense of humor.” Samson chuckled, “Well, that’s happens when The Nocturnes break up and the Counselor dies. Nothing’s funny anymore. Wisecracks suck nowadays. You’ve lost your “I hate everyone” attitude.” “That’s happens when The Nocturnes disband and Joshua Higgins gets murdered. You might as well not be a b***h anymore.” “Well, we finally have something in common, huh?” “Looks like.” “Would you like anything, tea, coffee, milk?” “No thanks. I just need a place to stay for tonight.” “Well, you’re welcome to spend the night here as long as you like. In fact, I was going to go out to a bar and drink a little. To be honest, I’d like you there.” “I insist.” “Thanks.” Samson opened the door and held it for Alice. She walked out the door and smiled at him as he kept the door open for her. The two walked down the sidewalk to the bar. Samson opened the door and did the same thing for her. As they sat down and drank Samson immediately asked. “Is there anything you want to look back on?” “Yeah, do you remember that one wannabe supervillain? It was that one idiot who always shouted his plans to the world and would run around like crazy.” “Wasn’t it the Demonic Anaconda?” “Yeah that was who it was. That guy was such a moron. Whatever happened to him?” “Duskcrawler noticed him and he snuck up behind him and impaled him with a piece of shadow.” They paused and laughed. The two knew that he had it coming. “What’s been going on with Duskcrawler? Is he doing his usual “good must be rewarded and evil has to punished” thing?” “Yeah, he still is. Last night, me and him talked about the Counselor’s death. He told me that he thinks someone’s out to kill us.” “That sounds really paranoid. To think this entire city is afraid of him.” “That was all him. He made criminals and corrupted officials get crushed. It’s no wonder why people are getting scared of him more. They don’t know what to think about him.” “After knowing him for years, he never was the person I wanted to meet.” “I didn’t either, but I did become his partner in crime fighting. He was a genius, despite being unstable.” “Well I guess it’s time to go.” Alice said and got up. The two walked over to the door and left. Samson took her hand and escorted her to his house. 10:42 P.M. Nocturnal Titan still slept in his coffin. He knew as long as he trapped himself in there, he’d go anywhere. Society detested him because of his extreme power. Looking back into his past, he hated humanity for what they did to him. He remembers when he became the Nocturnal Titan, he lived in Egypt, Africa. It was there that he starved and his ribs protruded his stomach. He was always hungry and the government did nothing for his people. That ended when he came upon an ancient structure that spoke of a man becoming godly. When he finished a flash of lightning struck him down and he disintegrated. His remains came back and he regenerated his body parts and his whole entire body became silver and his eyes turned red. No one witnessed this, so no one knew of his upbringing to godlike status. For years, he hid in the shadows and haunted the corrupted officials of Africa. That was until a local Cambodian discovered him and Titan befriended him. His appearance became public on accident and the United States became interested in him. Titan’s friend told him to go with them so that he could help humanity anyway he could. To his disappointment, Nocturnal Titan’s name was changed and he became Isaac Quentin against his will. He wanted to keep his original name but he never did. Nocturnal Titan was used as a weapon against the Middle East. Because of him many other nations feared him to the point of letting him rule their countries. He refused to do so because he had no interest in becoming ruler. This surprised the United States, because his power was so immense that he could rule any nation he wanted to. Another fellow superhero that served in Iraq was the Counselor. It was because of the Counselor “helping” him that he started not to care about humanity anymore. He could easily destroy it if he wanted to, but he never did, for his old friend’s sake. When he returned to Africa to visit his friend, a local had told him that he died of AIDS. This led to him becoming deeply depressed and destructive. His first act of destruction was him attacking bank robbers and policemen. It was because of this that people began to hate him deeply and he forced himself in a coffin that would leave him in state of suspended animation. He hasn’t left since or regretted making that decision. He still doesn’t question his decision. 11:11 P.M. Vlad Drake worked diligently on his products that he literally, polished them. His products included action figures, dolls, video games, books, and many other products that featured all of the members of The Nocturnes. This was his way of respecting them, especially after all those difficult times of staying together and fighting against evil. “It’s a good way to commemorate everyone, especially the Counselor.” “Um, sir?” “Yes?” “Are you talking to yourself again? It’s getting kinda creepy.” “Sorry, it’s just hard to accept the fact that The Nocturnes are history. We all did heroic and unselfish things to better society. Now there’s a bill outlawing heroes and the Counselor just died. Heroism is taking a turn for the worst. We’re doomed.” “No, sir you’re not doomed, and neither are your teammates.” “How so?” “You were an excellent leader for the team. If you weren’t you wouldn’t be standing here, right now. It was because of The Nocturnes that all of us employees are working here. I admire your ambition of remembering The Nocturnes. Truly, The Nocturnes are one of the greatest memories in American history. You should keep going on your work.” “Thank you. You will be going now. Good bye.” The employee left the room. Vlad continued to look through his photographs and had difficulty deciding on which one he was going to put into his book. He still didn’t have a name for the book or even was half way writing it. It seemed difficult to work on something like that. 12:00 A.M. the news all over the world revealed that there were several terrorist attacks in Washington D.C. Duskcrawler studied the report and teleported over to Washington D.C. to investigate the attack. He went into one of the houses that was attacked by the terrorists. He looked thoroughly until he came upon a coupon that read “World Peace: Drake’s new plan for bettering the world”. Duskcrawler read the coupon and it’s revealed that the terrorists had written all over it. It said things like “The Apocalypse is Coming!!!” and “Why Are The Nocturnes Sleeping?” which was typical graffiti writing in Seattle. So the terrorists had originated from Seattle, Duskcrawler thought, The only problem is who did this? Obviously, every detective asks that. He phased through the door and walked towards the White House. As he strolled there, men dressed in dark clothing, resembling the serial killer, challenged him. “Do you really think you’re a challenge to me?” Duskcrawler said, “I’m the Shadow of Seattle. You can’t touch me.” The men pulled out their guns. Typical gangster weapons, he thought, Uzis and 9mms. Nothing special. Duskcrawler stood there and waited for one of the gangsters to fire. None of them did. “What, no challenge? Disappointing.” He sank into the shadows and manipulated one of the shadows to grab one of the gangsters. The gangster jumped up and dodged the shadow. He fired his 9mm at it but the bullets went through it. “That’s more like it.” Duskcrawler slowly appeared behind the head gangster and touched him. When he touched him, the leader started seeing things that weren’t there. His envisioned clowns, spiders, bats, snakes, and the dead coming after him. That Nightmare Touch works like a charm, Duskcrawler thought. The other gangsters behind him shot at him but all the bullets went through him and he slowly walked towards them. When a gangster from behind shot him he fell down. They all looked at him but he sanked into the shadows and he summoned an all black hound that was ten times his size that devoured all of them. In his mind, he thought that was a complete waste of time. Duskcrawler walked to the White House and phased through the building and possessed a person. He asked one of the Congressmen about the terrorist attacks. All he got was they all sported black cloaks with typical gangster weapons. He mentioned a cloaked man in Seattle that wore a blindfold and asked for information on him. He got nothing out of it. The possessed body then left and Duskcrawler got out of him. He got all the information he needed. 1:01 A.M. Samson left his house to get some food from the grocery store. As he walked over there, cloaked men starred at him. As they looked at him funny, Samson asked, “Can I help you?” “No, you can’t.” One of the cloaked men pulled out a 9mm and pointed at Samson. Samson stepped back and said, “What do you want?” “You out of our way.” “How am I in your way?” “You’re a Nocturne. And Nocturnes need to die.” All of the cloaked men pulled out 9mms or Uzis and pointed at him. Samson jumped up and duplicated himself and pounced one in the head. As a hail of gunfire surrounded him, he ran super fast and clawed a gangster in the face. Samson then transformed into a kangaroo and kicked another. He then transformed into a bat and a bullet hit him in the wing. He transformed into a lion and pounced the man who shot him. He then duplicated himself and added venom to his fangs and his claws. As he kept scratching and biting, the men fell down with blood spilling from their wounds. Samson transformed back into his human form. He got in the door and got some bread, milk, and canned beans. He had plenty in his fridge he just wanted enough food for Alice. He let her sleep in his bed, while he slept on the couch. She was thankful of him and reluctantly took up on his offer. Samson still didn’t know how long she wanted to stay. He hoped to get an answer from her. As for that little fiasco, that was to be his little secret. If she found out, he would be arrested for using his powers in public, even if it was for self-defense. The funny thing, to him, was that she didn’t have powers. Only three members of The Nocturnes did: Behemoth of the Night (that was him), Duskcrawler, and Nocturnal Titan. The rest had peak human condition but had different talents. Sweet Revenge’s (Alice) primary talent was hand-to-hand combat. She was a quite a fighter and was good with hitting people with weapons hard. Ramesses the Impaler was talented with his brain. He’s considered to be one of the world’s top genius, if not, the top genius. Ramesses was a great tactical leader and always knew when to strike and when to spy on the enemy. The Counselor was an expert with guns. He never missed a target, if he did, he’d get angry and shoot like crazy. The angrier he got, the crazier he got with his gun. And you didn’t want to be at the other end of his gun. Still, it’s strange that Ramesses quit before the bill was passed. Even without him, The Nocturnes were still prospering. They continued to plummet crime until the bill was passed and superheroes could no longer exist. The Counselor was an exception, because he worked for the government. Even stranger, the government just amended the bill to where registered heroes have to reveal their identities to the world. This didn’t apply to retired heroes because they quit in obedience of the law so there was no point in forcing them to reveal their identities to the public. Some vigilantes, like Duskcrawler, just decided to continue with the superhero occupation in open defiance of the law. There weren’t very many superheroes that operated outside the law, government-sponsored, or registered because superheroes feel their identities are the only things protecting them from their enemies. Much to Samson’s dismay, news reporters wrote laws in newspapers about The Nocturnes and individual members of the group. The reporters often targeted Duskcrawler because he’s a fugitive. All he really does is pretend it’s no there. It’s funny that someone as strict as Duskcrawler ignores it and doesn’t go after the person who lied to the public about him. The reason why is he doesn’t read the newspaper much. No headline that he read featured him so he probably doesn’t know about the lies. Anyhow, it’s probably better that Duskcrawler doesn’t know about it. He’d definitely break their fingers and torture them and make them tell the truth. Even, Samson didn’t feel comfortable around him, it doesn’t seem like anyone does. No matter what you did, Duskcrawler would find you and make you pay for your crimes. Samson recalled a time someone framed him and the police went after him. Duskcrawler turned some of the shadows into guns and fired at them in self defense. When he found the one responsible Duskcrawler left him for the police with a sign that read “I fRaMeD dUsKcRaWlEr To MaKe yOu CoPs Go AfTeR HiM aRrEsT mE!!!” Before he tied him up, he taped the impersonator’s guns to his hands and made him point them at the police. When the cops found him, Duskcrawler manipulated the shadows around his fingers to make them fire the gun. As he fired, the cops shot and killed him. Duskcrawler got what he wanted. The police obviously couldn’t tell it was him pulling the trigger. Samson didn’t dislike him, but he didn’t exactly like him either. Samson went to bed on the couch thinking about his past.

Chapter IV
2:10 A.M. Nocturnal Titan kept thinking about how he would kill humanity for rejecting him and his assistance to the world. It was because of them that he began to disown the world. Yes, he would destroy the world to get his vengeance for destroying him. For making his world a nightmare, he would make them all pay for their transgressions. He would be the condemner and they would be the condemned. It didn’t matter anymore, he’s not a hero anymore and he never was. As his bigotry boiled, so did his respect for his former teammates. Knowing that if he destroyed the world, he’d destroy them as well. He had no choice but to kill them, even if they were the only ones who understood and cared about him. No one was going to stop him, he was the most powerful man on Earth, least of all, Duskcrawler. He remembers the names they called him, the Walking Apocalypse. He was never the Walking Apocalypse, all he wanted was to help make the world a better place, not to make it into a deconstructed world with everyone trying to kill each other. If he was called the Apocalypse, then he has no choice but to become the Apocalypse. Ever since he became The Nocturnal Titan, he cannot remember his past very well and his past has haunted him for years. He blames the human race for insulting him, mocking him, rejecting him, and using him to draw fear in other nations of the world. All this has making him insane and he wanted all this to end. So, as he slept he dreamt a plan on global annihilation. 3:56 A.M. Duskcrawler teleported back to Seattle to talk to Samson. When he teleported back, a police officer spotted him and fired his pistol at him. The bullets went through him and the officer shined the flashlight on him and shot at him rapidly. Duskcrawler immediately teleported away into the shadows and created a giant hand and grabbed him and threw him at the closest building. Duskcrawler transformed into a shadow and disappeared into the darkness but the officer appeared right in front of him and shined the light in his face. This pissed Duskcrawler off and he immediately summoned tentacles and drowned him in darkness. The officer was able to resist the tentacles and escaped. Duskcrawler sank into the shadows and slopped over to Samson’s house. When he entered he shouted, “Behemoth of the Night! Behemoth! Behemoth! Got your a** out here!” Samson woke up and whispered to him, “Shh, be quiet Alice is sleeping.” “Why did you invite her in your house. I thought she was in an asylum, why is she out in public?” “I’ll explain later. Now what is you want?” “I’ve made a few discoveries. The killer is obviously a shapeshifter. He transformed himself into a policeman. Plus, he probably knows how to duplicate himself or has very strong henchmen in his arsenal. You need to prepare yourself indefinitely or they’ll kill you and your new girlfriend.” “She’s not my girlfriend! And just so you know, I fought some strong gangsters and left them for the police.” “p***y! How could you? They’re evil and deserve to die!” “Not everyone deserves to die, Duskcrawler!” “Tell me why!” “It’s just not the right thing to do. I mean murdering criminals and the people you deem evil is wrong. Maybe they’re just insane and don’t know what they’re doing is in your point of view “evil”!” “So what. It doesn’t change a thing! Good is right and evil is wrong and you know it!” Duskcrawler teleported away into the night. 4:04 A.M. Vlad Drake sat behind his desk, expecting Duskcrawler to appear and have him lecture him about the killer and good and evil. Vlad was an intelligent man that knows good and evil almost as well as he does. In his belief, he had a mindset centered around consequentialism, or as it’s better known, “the ends justify the means.” He didn’t care about his actions, all he cared about was the outcomes, nothing else mattered to him. Duskcrawler’s extreme violent behavior in battle is similar to his belief, but he applies consequentialism to a moralistic extreme, whereas Vlad just uses it for gain, either personal or with others. As Vlad continued to think about it, it soon became clear that Duskcrawler wasn’t coming to meet up with him. He really missed his lectures and him calling Vlad a “idiotic genius” which Vlad would always say that it’s an oxymoron. To him, Duskcrawler was no moron, he was actually intelligent, but not as intelligent as Vlad. Still, Vlad respects Duskcrawler’s effort in reducing crime and evil in the world. Without him, The Nocturnes wouldn’t have done so well. In his perspective, he was a badass umbrakinetic that was rare, for there were very few umbrakinetics around and he was the most powerful. Nowadays, he’s the only umbrakinetic that’s active, now, most have retired or have died due to assassinations from many killers. Obviously, he’s the only umbrakinetic that was able to hold out on his own against officials, criminals, and assassains. Impressive, especially considering he has bravery to stand up to the government and say “******** YoU! i’M a ViGiLaNtE aNd A hErO, bAsTaRdS!” The reply Duskcrawler got from Vlad was “Wow, you’ve got serious courage.” 10:00 A.M. Samson decided to take up on Vlad’s offer to come to the presentation. It would be the best thing to do, especially because they were old friends and having an old friend to visit you and check up on you makes all the difference. As Vlad introduced his products, Samson was fascinated with what he was working on. He picked up a toy model of him as Behemoth of the Night and examined it well. He noticed that Vlad paid attention to every detail to it. He looked at the comic books featuring The Nocturnes and the costume replicas of each of the members. This overwhelmed Samson, for he loved what Vlad was doing. After the presentation was over, Samson stayed awhile and talked to Vlad. “Gee, Vlad you’re doing well. I never thought you’d be this successful.” “I never thought so myself either, Samson. But I managed to accomplish this goal.” “That’s a good thing. I mean, selling toys, comic books, costume replicas, and all sorts of Nocturnes merchandise is upping our game a bit. You’ve changed the public’s opinion about us and made us into what we always were, heroes. Excellent job.” “Thanks, Samson. I suppose you’re not doing bad, yourself?” “No, no. I have an old teammate staying at my house.” “Duskcrawler?” “No.” “Alice, then.” “Exactly.” “Why is she out of the asylum.” “She finally let go of her grudge and decided to move on with her life.” “That’s very spectacular.” “I know.” “I’m surprised you let her in your house.” “Well, I’m a softy compared to the rest of the guys. I was the funny guy, remember?” “What happened to him?” “I’m sorry, Vlad, but he’s moved on as well. You have too, I assume?” “Yes, that is why I am here at Drake Corporations. If I hadn’t moved on with my life, I wouldn’t be making a good profit from Drake Corporations or be called “one of the world’s top geniuses, now would I?” “I guess not.”” “See, I have done, as have you and Alice. Unfortunately, some are still continuing to go down the same path they did years ago.” “You mean Duskcrawler and Nocturnal Titan?” “Yes, those two haven’t gone anywhere. Duskcrawler is out killing criminals and Nocturnal Titan is locked away in his tomb in a state of suspended animation. Why can’t they be like you and me?” “Maybe they don’t have to be.” “I guess you’re right.” “Well, um, thanks for the presentation, Vlad. It was really enjoyable.” “You are welcome, dear friend.” Samson opened the door to leave and waved goodbye to him. He waved back and Samson left. 6:54 P.M. Duskcrawler is still in his shadowy blob form looking for people to possess that might know who the killer is or, at least, have an idea as to who or what he is. Unfortunately, he sensed no one knew of the killer. Duskcrawler was beginning to feel frustrated and annoyed by this. As Duskcrawler kept moving in his blob form he scoured the city but found nothing until a huge light shined down on him. The shadow split in half and the Duskcrawlers changed into their human forms. The duo saw the same officer and lunged at him. Duskcrawler #1 (the Duskcrawler on the left) punched and kicked the officer but he jumped away, only to be beaten down to the ground by Duskcrawler #2. #2 jumped on top of him and punched him in the face multiple times until the officer kicked him off. Duskcrawler sank into the shadows and grabbed him but the officer shined his flashlight on him and the Duskcrawlers teleported away. #1 pounced him from the building and molded a piece of shadow into a sword and slashed him. When he slashed him, no blood spilled. This man must be supernatural, Duskcrawler thought, this should be fun, especially killing him. #2 grew extra arms and molded some shadows into handguns and started firing at him rapidly. The officer avoided all the shots but one. The bullet that hit him got him in the head and fell down on his back. Even though the officer was hit hard, he got back up and started firing his pistol rapidly at #2. As he kept shooting #2, #1 came up behind and impaled him through the spine. The officer shot #1 and pulled the sword out and threw it beside him. #2 shot at him all over his body and the officer fell flat on his face. When the Duskcrawlers walked over to him, the officer exploded into flames. The Duskcrawlers teleported away from the flames atop the nearest building. As he stood atop and watched the flames explode, he got his duplicate to merge back with him. Then he suddenly saw drug dealers and sank into the shadows and went after them. “He really is an idiot, isn’t he? Duskcrawler really thinks I died, I’m actually alive, he just doesn’t know it, yet. But he will.” 7:58 P.M. Alice woke up and went outside to visit her old asylum. As she walked over to where it was, Alice began to think of all the times when she was in there. She was forced in there and still had no idea why. Alice was gorgeous, so why would people do that to her? Her first time she was in there, she spent most of her time sleeping. Alice was hardly ever awake, even when she got her food. Other inmates often taunted her, calling her “Former Beauty Pageant Loser” or the “Hero That Never Was.” The public often called The Nocturnes that and it annoyed Samson and Vlad quite a bit. After so much time apart, all of them became sociopathic, except Samson and Vlad. In Alice’s mind, she kept thinking of Samson for some odd reason. She remembers him saving her life from the rapist. As a Nocturne, he would always smile at her and tell her jokes that she would never laugh at. The only person who thought he was funny was the Counselor, except he laughed at him, cruelly. To Samson, that was worse than not laughing at all. The ironic thing is she actually inspired him to start telling jokes. It was because she was the first person to ever laugh at his jokes. In spite of this, Samson became a comedian. The most hilarious thing is everyone laughed at his jokes. It was ironic to the team, because he thought the team didn’t think he was funny. They never laughed cause they thought he was annoying with his wisecracks. Nevertheless, Samson didn’t make a retreat in wisecracking to his teammates. Looking back on it, Alice began to laugh because, all along his jokes were funny and never annoying. It seemed as if these days could never get any stranger, but they did: Samson was funny all of a sudden, superheroes are banned, she was in an asylum, Duskcrawler kept doing vigilante work, Vlad became a millionaire, Titan’s in a state of suspended animation inside a coffin, and the world is doomed to the Apocalypse by nuclear weaponry. Even though everyone was going to die, the grim moments happening now were getting brighter than what most people would see. Strange, miraculous, how could it all happen, all so surprisingly? The thought kept entering her mind more and more. She finally made it to her old asylum and looked at it. As she looked around, she saw a Wanted Poster of Duskcrawler. It read “Duskcrawler: Wanted Dead or Alive for Murder, Vigilantism, Assault, Impersonation, Resisting Arrest, and Defying the Superhuman Registration Act”. “Oh s**t,” Alice whispered. “Duskcrawler’s in trouble.” 7:23 P.M. Duskcrawler walked towards the bar to interrogate anyone who knew of the serial killer. As he attempted to walk in, police behind shined lights at him. “Freeze, Duskcrawler we have you surrounded!” “Are you actually surrounding me?” Duskcrawler asked without looking back, “Or is it me that’s surrounding you?” The policemen looked around and they were multiple duplicates of Duskcrawler all around them. “Hold it, we will fire!” “Go around, shoot me.” The officer shot him, but the bullet went through him and Duskcrawler walked into the bar. The clones outside crushed the police by creating a giant mouth from the ground that swallowed them all up but spit them out to a different location, unharmed. As Duskcrawler walked in, he was immediately asked by a waitress, “Can I help you?” “Yes,” Duskcrawler said and took a photograph out and showed it to the waitress, “Do you know this person?” “No.” “Well, it looks like I’m going to have to do this the hard way.” Duskcrawler said, “Everyone! I need your attention! Does anyone know of this man?” “Beat it, you damn vigilante,” a muscular man with a handlebar moustache and a biker jacket on yelled from the other side of the bar. “Really?” Duskcrawler asked, “Why not?” “Um…because the law says so?” “The law?” Duskcrawler said, as he walked over to him. Duskcrawler immediately asked, “Do you know what will happen if we, vigilantes don’t take action?” “Um…the Apocalypse?” “Exactly!” Duskcrawler grabbed and shoved him up against the wall and said, “You’re being an idiot, the end of the world’s coming, and everyone is begging for salvation. People like you don’t deserve our help. So, the next time you say that “Vigilantism is an immoral ideal” again, you and me will be seeing each other soon.” Duskcrawler let go of him and asked again, “Does anyone know of this man?” Everyone said no. “Figures,” Duskcrawler said and sank into the shadows again and went to the asylum.

Chapter V
8:09 P.M. Nocturnal Titan began to dream of the destruction he would bring one day to Earth. All he had to was trick The Nocturnes into thinking he’s going to help them, when he is really going to punish the world for committing crimes against him. His vendetta against humanity replayed itself in his mind. He imagined the world’s forces standing up to him with everything they got. It would prove useless against him, then the nuclear weapons would be fired and Nocturnal Titan would form a barrier around him to protect himself from the explosions. From the hell that was Earth, it’s destruction would be his victorious rise for finally defeating the corrupted vices of humanity that the race knew one day would lead to their downfall. For rejecting him, he would not forgive him for their follies. Nocturnal Titan suddenly came up with a plan. He would help the team find out who the burglar is and get credit for helping save the world. The next part of his, he would hold a press conference and ask questions. He would suddenly reveal his masterstroke to punish the world. Then the police would come rushing in and shoot at him but he would turn the bullets to dust and the guns to rubble. He would annihilate everyone there. Nocturnal Titan would then reveal himself to the world and threaten it. He would then teleport to the Washington DC and assassinate the president. This would outrage people and Nocturnal Titan would then destroy the nuclear weapons and challenge The Nocturnes. He would manipulate the neon lights and vaporize Duskcrawler, he would use mind control on the officers to kill Behemoth of the Night, he would vaporize Ramesses the Impaler and Sweet Revenge. Then the world’s military forces would unite to destroy him. Inevitably, he would destroy the military and then burn the world. From the ashes, he would rise and find another planet into which he would be accepted. Yes, the plan is perfect, Nocturnal Titan thought, I’ll wake up tomorrow night and help The Nocturnes and destroy this planet. Death has been invited into the world’s inevitable end and I will make sure I am the one that cures this plague of the modern day hell. 8:10 P.M. Duskcrawler made his way into the asylum. Instead of camouflaging himself, he decided to make himself visible. Outside the asylum, he kicked the door in and shouted, “Does anyone here know of this man!?” Everyone there looked at him funny and all the inmates laughed deliriously. “This was a waste of time,” Duskcrawler said, “Might as well look for the Lost City of Atlantis.” “Wait,” one of the inmates said, “I think I can help.” This turned Duskcrawler’s sarcastic attitude serious and he teleported to the inmate. “Tell me,” Duskcrawler said, “Who this is.” “The killer is not a man,” the inmate said, “Rather someone who used to be feared him as an enemy to their deities.” “Who feared him?” “The Egyptians,” the inmate said, “It’s A--” “Oh, shut up!” another inmate said, “That guy’s a schizophrenic.” “You can’t trust him!” “He’s lying!” “All of you had better shut up,” Duskcrawler said, “Or I’ll tear your mouths right off.” As he threatened the inmates, policemen ran into the door aiming their M4 Carbines at Duskcrawler. “Seriously,” Duskcrawler said, “We’ve got to stop meeting like this.” The policemen fired their assault rifles at him, but his intangibility allowed to pass harmlessly towards them. As he approached the officer nearest him, he towered over him and grew in size. Tentacles grew out of his body and his eyes turned red and the moon crescent disappeared. He whispered, demonically, “What’s the matter?” Duskcrawler asked, “Afraid of the dark?” The officers looked at him with terror and ran away. “That’s taken care of,” Duskcrawler said, “Now where is that inmate?” The inmate Duskcrawler talked began to scream in fright, because of Duskcrawler transforming into the shadowy creature. His fear repelled Duskcrawler and he immediately went to meet up with Vlad. 8:55 P.M. Samson woke up and noticed Alice wasn’t home. He decided to give her a call to see if she was alright. He dialed in her numbers and called. Suddenly, her phone was on the counter. Samson then decided to go look for her himself, transforming himself into an eagle. He duplicated himself so that he could find her at all parts of the city. As he flew across town, he noticed Duskcrawler. He stopped and talked to him, “Duskcrawler?” Samson said, “What are you doing here?” “What are you doing here?” he asked, “And why were you using your powers?” “I’m looking for Alice,” Samson said, “She left the house.” “I see,” Duskcrawler said, “I’ll be on my way, then.” “No you won’t,” Samson demanded, “You’re going to tell me why you’re here.” “Fine,” Duskcrawler mumbled, “I just found out more information on the Counselor’s murderer.” “And?” “And it turns out it is not a person or supervillain,” Duskcrawler said, “Rather a figure that the people of Egypt once feared as the enemy of the gods.” “That sounds absurd,” Samson said, “There were never any Egyptian gods.” “Maybe not,” Duskcrawler said, “But it’s the only explanation. Who else could do the things he did.” Samson paused and Duskcrawler said, “Exactly,” Duskcrawler said, “There is no supervillain that can do that.” “And you’re afraid that he’ll kill us all.” “That and,” Duskcrawler said, “Obtain status of a god. If he does that, he’ll enslave us all.” “You’re crazy,” Samson said, “This was pointless.” “You’ll see,” he said, “I’ll be the one that’s right.” Duskcrawler sank into the shadows and went under Samson’s feet and towards Drake Industries. Now to find Alice, Samson said, I’ll go back to my eagle form. He did that and found Alice near her old asylum. He snuck behind a tree and reverted himself to his human form. She starred at it, until Samson put a hand on her and asked, “What’s so special about this place?” “It’s a place that defined my life for years,” Alice said, “It means a lot to me.” “I see,” Samson said, “So you’re basically saying “Goodbye” to it.” “Yes.” “Just to let you know,” he said, “You’re never going in there again. I won’t let anyone take you here, again.” “Thanks, Samson,” Alice said, “But I can handle myself, really.” “No I insist,” Samson said, “I’d much rather do something to help than not do anything.” Alice looked at him and he looked back at her. Samson then heard the sound of people breaking out of the asylum. “Wanna go on a date?” Samson asked. “You bet I want to.” Alice ran towards the escaped convicts and cut them off. “Where do you think you’re going?” Alice ran towards the convicts and roundhouse kicked one in the face. She jumped off one and jumped onto another. She then punched one and ducked. Alice tripped him and somersaulted backwards into several criminals and knocked them over. Samson suddenly fell from the sky as a crocodile and pounced a con. Samson then turned into a goat and rammed them around. He transformed back into his human form and jumped off a convict to catch up with the ones getting away. He transformed into a cheetah and scratched at them, all of them bleeding violently. Samson then raced towards the last one and bit him in the back of the leg. The venom weakened the criminal and he fell down. “Well, that’s a job well done,” Samson said, “We did well against these damned cons.” “Yeah,” Alice said, “Haven’t had this much fun in a long time.” After complimenting each other on the efforts they put in, they returned home. When they had gotten home, Samson opened the door for her. She thanked him and went upstairs. She asked him, “Do you want to, well,” Alice asked, “Sleep up here with me?” Samson paused, shocked. It was their first date and already was she asking him to sleep with her. “Why not,” Samson said, “You’re hard not to resist. It’ll be like running around Wonderland.” Samson and Alice paused. Suddenly they burst out laughing. “Now that’s the Samson I remember.” “You’re right,” he said, “The Nocturnes were the best times of my life. Spending them with you was even better.” They both fell asleep holding each other tight. 9:30 P.M. Vlad Drake stood towards his window and looked outside at society. In spite of his help, the public has been reaching out towards prosperity very well. It’s almost like he’s their guardian angel watching over them. The Nocturnes were that until the people forced them out for not being able to save the schools in Seattle. It was because of this that superheroes warred against each other, dividing themselves up as “anti-Registration superheroes” and “pro-Registration superheroes”. These two groups warred against each other viciously. Knowing the best thing for The Nocturnes to do was to remain neutral between these two warring groups, because if they had remained on one side they would have been killed in combat. It’s because of this, that many superheroes died. Unlike the rest of the team, he left before the bill passed into Congress. He did it because he began to see the destructive nature in the group and became disgusted by it. It was only Behemoth of the Night that he accepted. The rest were causing destruction. Despite this, his need to honor them is more necessary than it was back then. All of a sudden, a shadow began to shape into a human and Vlad knew it who was, Duskcrawler. “I have something to ask.” “Yes, Duskcrawler?” “I have found out more about the killer,” Duskcrawler said, “It turns out he is not a person, but someone the Egyptians feared as an enemy to the gods. Who is it?” “Apep the Evil Demon,” Vlad said, “He and Ra, the Sun God, often battled each other as blood enemies.” “Makes sense.” “How does it?” “He was able to resist my shadow manipulation,” Duskcrawler said, “And he was difficult to defeat.” “You’re right.” “This time, you’re helping, whether you like it or not.” “What’s the incentive?” “The incentive is what Albert Einstein once said, “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of people who don’t do anything about it”. You’re one of the people standing around watching it happen. Do something about it. It’s what one of the world’s top geniuses would do.” “I hate to say it, but you’re right,” Vlad said, “We have to inform the others.” Vlad went into his private restroom and changed into his old Ramesses the Impaler costume. When he came out, his costume consisted of a brown pharaoh hat, a brown chin pad, a white tunic, gold chains, and brown sandals. His only weapon was an ancient sword. To Duskcrawler, he looked just like a pharaoh about to confront the evil. “What are we waiting for?” Ramesses said, “Let’s go find Nocturnal Titan.” Duskcrawler covered him and Ramesses the Impaler in a shadow and took him to the abandoned military facility. There, the duo found the coffin. Duskcrawler said, “Let me handle this,” he ordered, “I’m the only one who can talk to him.” Duskcrawler transformed into a shadow and entered the coffin into his mind. He shouted, “Titan! Titan! Where are you?” “I am here,” Nocturnal Titan said, “What is it you need me for?” “I’ve found more information on the killer,” Duskcrawler said, “He is not a person, but the Egyptian Demon, Apep.” “The snake,” he said, “I thought Ra killed him.” “Apparently not.” “I see,” Nocturnal Titan said, “The way to defeat him is impossible, only a god can destroy him. I can’t help you.” “Yes, you can! Apep is the evil that haunted your homeland for years. Aren’t you going to kill him?” “I can’t kill him,” Nocturnal Titan said, “I’m not a god.” “Fine,” Duskcrawler said, “You’re selfish. Would Ra sleep in a coffin when the world is dying?” He left his mind and said to Ramesses, “He’s not coming.” Suddenly, a door opened and a glowing silvery hand appeared out of the coffin. “You’re not leaving without me,” Nocturnal Titan said, “One less hero would prove futile in defeating him. You need a god-like man like me to help you.” “Why--” “No time to question his motives, Duskcrawler,” Ramesses said, “We have to stop Apep.” The trio teleported to Samson’s house. Duskcrawler said, “Samson, Alice! Are you here?” “Yes, we’re here,” Alice said, “You’re back in costume, again. Are The Nocturnes back together again?” “You can say that,” Ramesses said. “Well, Alice,” Samson said, “We have to help them. Suit up.” Samson and Alice went upstairs and changed. Samson got out first with nothing but a brown cloak on. Alice took some time upstairs and finally came downstairs. She had a black wig, mascara, black lipstick, a leather black suit with low cut black collar and a SR on her boobs, her shoulders, and on her a**. “Wow,” Samson said, “It’s no wonder I couldn’t resist her.” The group met in Samson’s basement discussing a plan on how to defeat Apep. “First, we’ll need to locate his location, which will be trouble with Nocturnal Titan. Next, we’ll need to figure a way out to weaken him. Since we’re not gods, this might present a problem.” “I can try to incapacitate him with shadows.” “Yes, that should work. I can imagine he’ll put up a good fight against us. I mean he is a demon with god like abilities.” “No matter,” Behemoth of the Night said, “We’ll get rid of him, just like every baddie out there.” “Take this seriously,” Nocturnal Titan said, “He’s not just a baddie, he was Ra’s rival.” “I know,” Behemoth of the Night said, “But we’ll still kick his a**, right?” “Yes, we’ll kick his a**,” Sweet Revenge said, “And we’ll do it as a team, whether I like it or not.” “Alright, once we’ve incapacitated him, Nocturnal Titan will vaporize him, thus ending this threat. Now, let’s get to work.” Nocturnal Titan teleported all of them to different locations to find Apep.

Chapter VI
10:10 P.M. Duskcrawler changed into a grounded shadow and scoured the park. There was no one there so Duskcrawler took a left to the nearest building. As he walked in, the people inside began to cower away in fear of him. With no light to prevent him from phasing the door, he immediately went through the door. His appearance made people duck and he immediately looked around the house. There was no sign of Apep. Meanwhile, Behemoth of the Night looked in the forest. He passed through trees with no sign of the demon. Behemoth immediately transformed and duplicated himself into several different animals to search for him. No luck at all, no man with a cloak on, besides himself. He looked up the trees in the ground, but he wasn’t there. He even looked in caves, but he wasn’t there. Behemoth of the Night returned outside the forest and changed back into his human form. Sweet Revenge went back to the asylum and demanded a key to the cells. When one of the workers refused, she beat the s**t out of her and took the key. She stomped in the cells and found nothing but insane inmates. When she attempted to leave, the inmates immediately tried to break out of the asylum but Sweet Revenge cut them off. She ran towards the closest one and punched him in the face and in the stomach and tossed him at the other inmates. She looked to the right to see that a well built man ran towards her so she ducked and tripped him. Sweet Revenge stomped on his face with her leather boots. She bumped into the inmate nearest the tallest con and bounced off him and pounced on the tallest con. Sweet Revenge then rocketed at the others. She kicked the insane convicts and rolled backwards and grabbed a con and rolled him over on his head. Sweet Revenge then ducked and somersaulted towards the others and when she got back to her fighting stance, she intimidated the rest of the cons. Nocturnal Titan went into the skies and phased through planes and helicopters to find that there was no Apep. When military helicopters and fighter jets began to fire at him he turned the bullets to dirt and the weapons into wood. Nocturnal Titan then went into the sea and looked all around to see nothing but fish. Nocturnal Titan surfaced to find that there were military ships shooting missiles at him. As missiles fired at him he turned them into sand and teleported to Seattle and went underground. As he flew faster than the speed of light, there was still no sign of the demonic god. Ramesses the Impaler looked through files on sightings of the chief enemy of the Egyptian gods. He looked through several and found that he often goes to Egypt. He went into his custom-made, Eternal Boat of Ra. This boat not only floated on water, rather it could be used like a street vehicle or a flying aircraft. The boat was brown and looked rather old. But this was his way of designing it to make it look like Ra the Sun God’s old boat. He used his tracking device to find the rest of the members. The first person he found was Sweet Revenge. He asked her to get onboard to which she did quickly. Ramesses the Impaler then found Behemoth of the Night and Duskcrawler. Nocturnal Titan found him and flew alongside him. The group made their way to Egypt and landed the Eternal Boat of Ra. Ramesses the Impaler shouted to the sky, “Where are you, Apep?” he shouted, “Show yourself!” After several minutes of silence, a haunting voice from nowhere responded, “Ramesses…,” Apep said, “It’s good to see you…” “I don’t have time for this!” “Of course you don’t…,” Apep whispered, “You want me defeated so you can save this world, just like Ramesses the Great…” “Get here already,” he shouted, “So we can fight you.” “Oh, there won’t be any fighting…,” Apep whispered, “It’s just like what they say, “Violence never solves anything” and it certainly won’t lead you to me.” “You’re annoying me,” Ramesses said, “Just show yourself, our world is in danger.” “Because of me…” he whispered, “You see, we can’t talk forever, so I’ll be on my way…” “Goddamn you!” he shouted, “Nocturnes return to the ship.” The Nocturnes returned to the boat and went all over Africa, but no sign of Apep. Apep obviously could turn invisible at will. All of a sudden, a elderly man, well built yet still looking centuries old, appeared in front of them in a black robe. He shouted, “Ah, you’ve found me…” he whispered, “Looks like we’re going to have to do battle, but, unfortunately, I have to put my plans into action…” “What are you planning?” Ramesses shouted. “I apologize, Ramesses…,” Apep whispered, “But I cannot tell you…” Apep disappeared. “Come back here!” Ramesses shouted, “We’re going to have to meet back at Drake Tower. Nocturnal Titan!” Titan looked at Ramesses and nodded. He teleported the group to Drake Tower. The group got off the boat and felt ashamed that they couldn’t capture a centuries-old demon. It was humiliating. When they got to the top floor, Ramesses announced, “Apparently, we have a reality manipulator,” he said, “He can appear and reappear anytime he wants. This is difficult to handle, he can, literally, do anything he wants.” “True,” Duskcrawler said, “But we can’t quit, justice has to be served. That ******** is not going anywhere, but to where he belongs.” “Good enthusiasm, Duskcrawler,” Behemoth of the Night said, “At least, someone’s encouraging us to actually fight a unwinnable fight.” “You shut it, Behemoth,” Duskcrawler said, pointing his finger at him, “We have to stop him, or everyone’s lives will be in danger of this madman.” “We can’t stop him,” Sweet Revenge said, “He can do anything he wants.” “She’s right,” Nocturnal Titan said, “Even I can’t match his power.” “Urgh, you idiots don’t understand, I’m not going to stand here and wait. He’s dying tonight.” Duskcrawler sank into the shadows and went under the door. He transformed back into his human form outside and teleported all over Africa. Duskcrawler found Apep and said, “You’re not going anywhere, Apep!” “And where am I going…?” he whispered, “Only I know the answer…” “You shut your ******** mouth!” Duskcrawler demanded, “I’m going to kill you.” “Try and kill me…” Duskcrawler teleported atop him but Apep held his hand out above him and teleported in front of him. “There’s not a thing I can’t do.” “b*****d,” Duskcrawler, “You’re going to pay for that.” Duskcrawler duplicated himself and ran towards him. Apep got rid of his duplicates and made a hand come out of the ground and threw beneath the ground. Duskcrawler phased through the ground and teleported towards him but Apep froze him. Apep walked away and Duskcrawler was free but he sank into the shadows and appeared in front of him. “You coward,” Duskcrawler said, “Running away from a fight.” “We’ll see who the real coward is.” Duskcrawler punched him but his fist phased through Apep. “I’m intangible,” he said, “Just like you.” He pulled the shadow’s out of his face and tossed him towards the building. Duskcrawler threw dark bolts at him but they redirected towards him. Duskcrawler absorbed them and became more powerful and threw more dark bolts at him. Apep deflected the bolts away from Duskcrawler so he wouldn’t absorb them, but he used the shadows in the area to take them in anyway. He became strong enough to copy Apep’s power and teleported towards him. When Apep attempted to teleport him away he blocked it. Duskcrawler punched him in the face and kicked him in the stomach. He threw dark bolts at him and all of them hit Apep. When Duskcrawler used the shadows to incapacitate him, he injured Apep severely but he regenerated his wounds. While distracted, Duskcrawler appeared behind him and impaled him with a shadowy sword. He then turned a piece of shadow into a shotgun and blew his head off. Apep’s body fell and Duskcrawler walked away, triumphantly. 12:59 A.M. Duskcrawler appeared back to Ramesses the Impaler’s tower and he wasn’t there. Unfortunately, Apep’s god like powers were fading so he had no idea where the others were at. He then went to Behemoth of the Night’s house. When he phased through the door, he heard loud noises and turned invisible. As he heard the disturbing noises, he thought to himself, Lust will kill him one day, whether he likes it or not. Duskcrawler appeared in his bedroom to see that Behemoth and Revenge were having sex. Disturbed, he disguised his voice as an evil, demonic sound that whispered, “Samson…” “Who’s there?” he asked. “Apep…” “Apep?” Behemoth of the Night asked, “What are you doing here.” “No, you idiot,” Duskcrawler said, “It’s me, Duskcrawler.” He walked towards him and Samson got angry. “Goddamn you, Duskcrawler!” he shouted, “Why’d you have to ******** end this?” “I was disturbed,” Duskcrawler said, “And I’ve got business. Let’s get to it, now.” “Fine,” Behemoth of the Night said and walked downstairs with him, “What is it?” “I killed Apep,” Duskcrawler said, “He threw dark bolts at me and I absorbed them and I copied his powers and used them against him.” “Wow, you never did that before,” he said, “Do you still have those powers?” “Inconveniently, no.” “Why?” “It wore off.” “That sucks.” “Furthermore,” Duskcrawler said, “I tried to go talk to Ramesses but he wasn’t there.” “Strange,” Behemoth said, “He’s always there. Maybe he’s fighting criminals.” “Doesn’t sound like it,” he said, “I’m suspicious about his motives. He must have some plan. Why did he start the team, when I went to him? Why was he able to communicate with Apep when we couldn’t see him? This proves that’s he behind something.” “When you put it that way,” Behemoth of the Night, “It does sound like he’s got something to do with this. But you investigate this on your own.” “Why?” “I’ve got some things to do.” “Oh yeah,” Duskcrawler said, “You were pretty busy when I interrupted you.” “Will you shut up!” “Fine,” he said, “I’m going away.” 1:13 A.M. Ramesses the Impaler, in his business clothes, held a press conference about the nuclear Apocalypse. He opens with the statement, “Fellow, industrialists, I come to you offering a solution to the nuclear Apocalypse,” Vlad said, “I’m here to discuss a way to prevent another war and to prevent nuclear destruction. A way we can solve this is do re-establish the superhero.” “Mr. Drake,” an elderly businessman said, “Aren’t those self-serving vigilantes done for.” “No,” Vlad said, “In fact The Nocturnes are back together.” “Aren’t you part of those vigilantes,” another businessman asked. “No,” Vlad replied, “I never was. I just admired them for their determination against crime and evil.” “It was all staged.” “Yeah, it was all fraud.” “There is no way they’re going to help us.” “Yes, they are,” he insisted, “Why wouldn’t they? They pursue acts of heroism whereas everyone else stands around, making no attempt to do prevent it when it happens.” “What’s the incentive to do it.” “Albert Einstein once quoted, “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the evil people, but because of the people who don’t anything about it”. That’s the incentive.” As he walked down the stairs he said to them, “Let me share a little bit of my past with you,” Vlad insisted, “As you all know I’m a successful industrialist and one of the world’s top geniuses. How did I come to be the man I am today? Simple, I was born to two intelligent parents. As a young child, I was reading Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus and Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights. Grim, gothic fiction novels about the macabre. As I delighted in the novels, I grew to more improvement. I studied philosophy, architecture, art, music, literature, theatre, mathematics, sciences, many topics that have made me a genius. I became an above intelligent man. Although I am one of the most intelligent men, if not, the most intelligent man, I feel quite naïve about many things. I am naïve about the government’s motives behind the passing of the Superhuman Registration Act. It clearly had more ideals behind it, besides eliminating heroes for destroying the schools. To me that might be revenge, corruption, or just, to better themselves. As a child I had fun by reading The Amazing Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, The Uncanny X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, and The Avengers. They all fascinated me with the Albert Einstein quote that I mentioned earlier as an incentive. In these comics, they will go as far as they can to save humanity from hell, and that’s what I’m going to do with The Nocturnes’ help.” “They won’t help! Trust me on this.” “No,” Vlad replied, “You trust me. This world will survive and I will do all that I can to improve the world.” As he finished his lecture, loud footsteps from the elevators were loud enough for them to hear. Vlad hid in his office. When the burglars appeared, all of them had .25 Magnums. The head burglar demanded, “Everyone on the floor!” the leader shouted, “Where is Vlad Drake?” “In his office.” “Good, we’ll--” “No you won’t!” Vlad kicked the man in front of him and directed him at another. As the men fired, Vlad hid behind the desk, covering him like a bunker. A bullet had hit a female, brunette industrialist in the leg and in the chest. She fell to the floor and died. He then ran at the burglar nearest him and punched him in the nose. Vlad somersaulted forward into a killer and bounced off him into another burglar. As he ran sideways, the head burglar fired at the industrialists, attempting to kill Vlad. When he was near, Vlad tackled him. He demanded, grabbing the killer’s face, “Who hired you? Who sent you here to kill me? Tell me! TELL ME!!!” All of a sudden, the burglar’s eyes rolled back into his eyes. This horrified Vlad. The bodyguards behind him pulled him away. “Damn it!” he cursed, “I should have known that he was going to commit suicide on me when he got caught.” “It’s not your fault,” one of his two bodyguards said, “It couldn’t be prevented.” “Yeah, don’t kick yourself,” the other said, “One of the top’s geniuses wouldn’t have been able to avert it.” “To me, accidents never happen…” he said as he examined the killer.

Chapter VII
2:07 A.M., Duskcrawler teleported to Vlad’s condo to investigate what happened during the assassination. Apparently, it seemed like the assassins were good burglars. Being able to burglarize inside one of the world’s top geniuses’ buildings would take a miracle. To which they probably had one. Or Vlad was just getting stupid. Duskcrawler asked him, “How were they able to get in?” “I’m not sure,” he replied, “They must be professional assassins.” “Professional assassins, my a**,” Duskcrawler said, “Get better security.” “I’ll be right on it.” “When I’m done investigating,” he said turning his head towards Vlad, “You better hope no one else gets in or I won’t help you.” Duskcrawler was serious, assassins getting through Vlad’s guards, dogs, and security systems seemed absurd. How could they have been able to get in without setting off Vlad’s alarms? It didn’t make any sense, maybe they were talented murderers that had no trouble with security. Duskcrawler continued to look but nothing incriminating was there. There was no way he could have been behind this, he thought, those assassins obviously had this planned out. He transformed into a shadow and sank into the darkness and appeared at Behemoth of the Night’s house. He knocked on the door, sank down and waited for Behemoth to answer the door. When he did, his voice rang, “Behemoth of the Night…” “Who are you?” “Your darkest and dreariest nightmare…I’ve come back to haunt you…” Behemoth paused and then figured it out, “Duskcrawler.” “Had to have fun.” “Had to?” he asked, “Really, was that necessary?” “Not really,” Duskcrawler replied, “But I did investigate Vlad’s condo.” “And?” “It seems like he’s not behind this,” he said, “The assassins that got in managed to sabotage security very well.” “So, he’s not suspicious, anymore.” “Doesn’t seem like it.” “I told you I was right!” “Shut up before I tear your jaw clean off.” “All right, all right,” he said, “So, if he’s not the prime suspect, then he’s working alone.” “The question is,” Duskcrawler said, “What are his motives? What are his weaknesses? What does he plan to do?” “Good qs, Duskcrawler,” he replied, “But I’m not entirely sure about this.” “Don’t need to be,” he said and teleported away. At 3:33 A.M. Nocturnal Titan was hoping to find Apep and just finish his plan. Unfortunately, Apep the Demon was nowhere to be found. He duplicated himself to find him. As he flew across Africa, the real Titan heard a voice, “Nocturnal Titan,” he whispered, “I see you’re having trouble finding me.” “Show yourself,” he replied, emotionlessly. He revealed himself and said, “Listen to yourself, you don’t even care if I prevail or not,” he whispered, “If you did, you would’ve solved the crisis in this world…but you didn’t. Your reason for remaining unhelpful to society was because you disown it so much, that you’d annihilate it.” “Lies,” he said, calmly. “Not lies. I read your thoughts,” he whispered, “You don’t care about a single speck of life. You see it as useless concept. If you want to destroy it, why not now? Everyone will see you for who you really are, Isaac or should I say, Amen of Egypt.” “How do you know my name?” “It’s simple, a man that would become a god is someone I would detest, especially because you’re named in honor of Ra, my blood enemy for all eternity,” he whispered, “But you’re different. You don’t have any concern for anything, not even yourself. That is why I think you should enact your plan to destroy all life on Earth.” “How did you know that I had a plan?” “I’m a demon,” he whispered and faded into the air, “I know everything.” 4:10 A.M. Duskcrawler teleported to Egypt to find that Nocturnal Titan was there. He noticed that Titan stood there and did nothing as if he was deep in thought. Duskcrawler appeared behind him and he said, “Duskcrawler, I knew you were there,” he said, “I could hear you all the way from Seattle.” “Why are you here?” “I set out to find Apep, to which I was able to accomplish, but he overpowered me.” “Sounds like bullshit to me.” “It’s the truth,” he said, “I can only manipulate the atomic and subatomic particles. He can manipulate reality. I am inferior to him.” “It still sounds like a lie,” Duskcrawler said, “And I’m coming to find out if you told the truth.” He transformed into a shadow and entered his mind. As Duskcrawler crept into the dark depths of his mind, Nocturnal Titan pushed him out of his mind. “Stay out of my mind.” Nocturnal Titan teleported away. “Damn it!” He teleported back to Seattle to find him. At 3:40 A.M. he flew upwards toward the sky and made his presence to the public known by making his skin much brighter. He appeared to the public and said, “At 7:00 A.M., this morning, I shall reveal myself to the world, so all shall understand and know me for who I truly am and what I plan to do. No questions, please.” Even though he asked for no questions, the people asked questions anyways. In spite of this, he teleported to the moon. At 4:13 A.M., Vlad looked through his telescope and noticed a glowing silver man sitting on the moon. He noticed this and went looking for Duskcrawler on his tracking device and, obviously, he was fighting crime in Seattle. Vlad Drake drove his superfast sports car from Salem, Oregon to Seattle, Washington. When he finally made it, he went to Samson’s house. When he walked in the door, Samson asked, “Vlad? What are you doing here?” “I’m here to see your friend, Duskcrawler.” “Oh, um, you can stay here if you like.” “Thanks, but I think it won’t be necessary. I’m going to the moon and I need to see if Duskcrawler can teleport to it.” “Well, you’re always welcome to stay if you like.” Vlad left his house and Alice came up and said, “What’s with everybody not saying goodbye anymore?” “That’s the way the rest of the team is, no one has time for those simple things, anymore.” Vlad changed in his car and knocked on the door, “Goodbye.” Vlad closed the door and ran as fast as he could to Duskcrawler’s location. “He only said that because he heard you say that.” She started laughing because it was hilarious. “Wow, that’s the first time I heard you laugh at one of my jokes. Can I--” “Don’t even think about it,” she said, sarcastically. Duskcrawler beat down criminal norms to the point that when Ramesses got involved, he got beaten hard on accident. Duskcrawler grabbed his hand and said, “When you see me fighting, stay out of my way.” “A sorry would’ve been nice.” “I don’t ever say sorry,” he replied, “Now, in your terms, let’s get down to business. What you’d come here for?” “I have a question to ask,” Ramesses said, “Can you teleport to the moon?” “I never did, but I could try.” “Alright, back to my place.” Duskcrawler covered the two of them in a shadow. When they got there, Ramesses went to the bathroom and put on a space suit. “Aren’t you going to put a suit on?” “I don’t one,” he said, “The mask covers my entire body with shadow and enables me oxygen. Now let’s go.” Duskcrawler teleported him and Vlad to the moon through shadows. When they got there, he didn’t see him on the moon’s surface and teleported back to Vlad Drake’s condo. 7:00 Nocturnal Titan appeared in front of many people ready for his speech. People began to ask many questions but he asked for silence. He announced, proudly, “Hello, fellow citizens of the world. I have news that will reveal more about my past, what I am now, and what I plan to do,” he looked towards the left, “But before I reveal my past to you, I ask for no questions after my speech is done,” he looked towards the center at the people, “In my past life, I was born in Egypt in 1921, as Amen, named in honor of the Sun God, Ra, to Adofo, my father, and Akila, my mother. I had a younger sister, Auset, and a younger brother, Ausar, both named in honor of Isis and Osiris, respectively. As a young child, I was forced to do work all the time for a selfish and greedy government. All they could do was indulge themselves. In all these times I spent there, nothing was done to them. For years and years, my people were ignored and we all suffered at the hands of their arrogance. We all endured, until I became what I am now. When I was about 24 years old, I worked and worked until the day was done. I decided to take a walk to visit the pyramids. When I did, I read passages until I stumbled upon hieroglyphics that foretold the return of Ra in human form. When I was done I walked away and the clouds turned dark with lightning violently striking. The lightning touched the pyramids and finally me. My body was electrocuted and I disintegrated. Several days, I rose back and became a new being. My presence was kept a secret, but I punished the officials for their unconcern for bettering society. I vaporized them and respected elders took their place in government, helping the greater good. For decades, I spent my time making Africa into a paradise. My mentor was Chann of Cambodia, a very dear friend that guided me in the right places. Chann was always there whenever I needed him. When the United States discovered me in 1955, Chann insisted that I go with them to help them better the world. While I was there, I created ways of helping people by fighting crime, discovering new sciences, and being a war hero. I helped the United States win many wars, including the Vietnam War and the War on Terrorism. As I helped the world, I began to see myself as someone being profited by a nation and being feared by another. It was in the Iraqi and Afghanistan War that I began to see the true nature of humanity; all were greedy and self-indulgent. They were all about making themselves more than what they were. I regretted ever having anything to do with them and killed terrorists until they surrendered to me. My power made them fear me. Even my native country was afraid of me. When the nuclear threat began to submerge into the world, I stood by and did nothing because of my disgust of people. But I retained a little bit of my humanity. I returned to Africa to visit Chann, but he died from AIDS to which everyone believed I caused. I, at first did not believe, but several others that I was with in Africa had gotten this and it horrified me. I went on an angry killing spree of criminals and supervillains. My actions led them to hate me and declared war on us. I annihilated them with rage at the death of Chann. Whatever was left of Amen, died with my victims. The media took note of this and I built a coffin for me to retreat in to hide from the public. For years, I was in suspended animation and left myself out of the world’s current events. When I returned, I wanted to stop the Counselor’s murderer and, ironically, he was a demon that convinced me you were all useless and still are. I plan on destroying this world and leaving no trace of it behind. When I have, humanity’s immorality and greed will be vanquished. Now, feel my eternal wrath in the name of Ra!” Nocturnal Titan raised his index finger to the sky and began to strike his hand down and vaporized people. Flesh exploded and blood gushed everyone. The military police began to fire all of their weapons at him. He looked at them and destroyed the weapons with him lifting all of the objects and compacting them together. He lifted buildings and shoved them together. In order to be sure that no one survived, he flew up and vaporized civilians. People screamed and ran away, but died because of him. He was ensuing destruction like he was created to do. Death came upon them and everyone Nocturnal Titan saw, died. He increased his size and crushed the buildings. He reverted back to his normal size and flew towards the next city only to meet a moving shadow appear in front of him. Duskcrawler began to form in front of him and said, “What are you doing? You’re killing innocent people!” “I’m fulfilling my destiny.” “Sorry,” he yelled, “But your dreams will have to put on ice!” Duskcrawler teleported behind him but Nocturnal Titan, telekinetically, grabbed him and walked over to him, “Duskcrawler,” Nocturnal Titan asked, “Do you really think you have the power to avert this apocalypse? You are wrong.” “I can try!” Duskcrawler sank into the shadows and began to open a black hole in the sky. Nocturnal Titan closed it and Duskcrawler jumped at him and kicked him. Duskcrawler punched and kicked him multiple times and sank both of them into the eternal darkness. Nocturnal Titan looked around, not even seeing light anywhere. He looked and saw Duskcrawler’s constantly evolving eyes and evolving moon phases shine and Duskcrawler used all the darkness to incapacitate him. Duskcrawler managed to do this and left. Nocturnal Titan teleported to his location and said, “I pity you, Duskcrawler,” he said, “Did you really think all the darkness in the world could destroy me?” “I knew it wouldn’t,” Duskcrawler said, “But I weakened you and it’s time for you to see my most powerful form.” Duskcrawler’s moon became full and began to glow. His mask became skull-like and his eyes began to glow red. He teleported in a fury around him and kept beating on him. He used the shadows to grab Titan and made him move towards him. He shot a rocket launcher in his face, but he regenerated it. Duskcrawler changed some shadows into a long barreled Nock Gun and a long-bladed Scythe. He teleported all around and chopped his body parts off and closed in on him and shot him in the face. His entire chest exploded along with his head. He reverted back to his original form, and went to his remains and said to him, “If you’re still alive, Nocturnal Titan,” he said, “You have done evil and for that, you must be punished. For all that you’ve done, you will be my enemy for doing these terrible crimes.” He walked away and Nocturnal Titan began to regenerate his body parts and attempted to fly after him. He was stopped by impending rioters who asked him, in a rage, “Why’d you do this?” “Why’d you betray your duty?” “Why’d you doom us all to destruction?” “Why’d you break Chann’s promise?” As questions began to make him question himself, he whispered, “Go away…please…I need to be alone…” The rioters would not go away, .they shot bullets at him and threw objects at him. He shouted, “INFERIOR HUMANS!!!!!! I COMMAND ALL OF YOU TO GOOOOOO AWAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!” Nocturnal Titan teleported all of them back to their homes and then flew towards the sky, slowly. He looked down at them and said to himself, “I have done wrong, and I must never return.” He flew at the speed of light and augumented his speed, increasingly so that he could never find his way back to Earth. He stopped and whispered, “I regret what I have done. For murdering innocent lives, for betraying and perverting my whole existence, and, my highest of all crimes, breaking Chann’s promise to make people become better. My punishment, to all of you, is to never return to Earth. If it endangers all of you, then I have no choice but to never show my face again to anyone. I am sorry, Chann. I cannot make humanity better because I have broken your promise.”

Chapter VIII
6:01 A.M. Duskcrawler teleported himself to space to look for Nocturnal Titan. As much as he thought he didn't deserve to return, he knew that he'd need him to aid in the defeat of Apep. Without him, Apep would easily destroy all of them. Duskcrawler floated into the deep dark depths of space and phased through all the asteroids. With frustation, he duplicated himself to split up. As he floated through, he saw a silver, glowing man flying through space. Duskcrawler teleported both him and Nocturnal Titan to a black planet. He said to him, "Where do you think you're going?" Duskcrawler demanded, "We need you to help save the world from Apep." "I am of no more value to them, anymore," Nocturnal Titan, "Nor am I to you." "Don't you understand, Titan," Duskcrawler said, "Everyone on this Earth is counting on you, even me." Nocturnal Titan paused and looked towards the asteroids. "I am as dangerous as those asteroids." "You can be," he said, "But you can also be a savior to our world, if you dedicated yourself to it!” Nocturnal Titan paused again and turned around and pointed at the planets. “I am a wretch,” Nocturnal Titan proclaimed, “No one that even these planets would accept me. I have an act of evil and must forever remain secluded from all that is good.” “You don’t understand,” Duskcrawler said, “That one small deed does not prove a thing! You were a hero that everyone believed in and now, because of your actions, they fear you.” “And it is my actions that I am the way I am.” “No, Titan,” he said, “Your actions didn’t make you this way, you did.” Duskcrawler paused and said, “I was once like you, afraid of everyone’s perception of me. It was because my mother died during childbirth and my father and bullies abused me. I was afraid of them until I realized my fear wasn’t from them…it was from me. I learned and trained myself to become stronger to stand up to them. I remember being picked on by bullies that insulted me, all I did was walk away. They chased after me, expecting me to run, but I didn’t, I stood my ground. I fought them and won the fight. When I had gotten home that day, my father locked me out, so I kicked the door in. He grabbed me and threw me across the room. I immediately got back up and put my fists up and fought him. We battled it out until he could no longer stand it anymore. I told him that he’s not a father and that he never was. I immediately ran away and that led me to becoming a vigilante. I was just Vincent Colman, then. I was beating down criminals and crooked officials; letting them live was an option I chose. That was until I found multiple children missing from their homes. It was five years before we became The Nocturnes. My mission was to find and return the missing children unharmed. I had found my information on the missing children by adding a little incentive to it. All I had to was break a crook’s finger and I got all the information I needed to find them. At least, most of it. When I got there, there were bones and meat everywhere. At first, it seemed like he was butchering animals, but I stepped on a humerous bone, which was a human bone. To my horror, someone was kidnapping children and dismembering their bones from their bodies. All of a sudden, I heard footsteps and I turned invisible. He walked in, opened the door and he ate the meat. This disgusted me and I beat the s**t out of him. When he shouted, “What is this?” I revealed myself to him and he said, “Who are you? What are you?” With rage, I looked at him and said, “Why did you kill these innocent children? For your own cannibalistic enjoyment?” “I didn’t do it. What proof do you have?” I stretched my arm and took one of the butcher knives, examining it. My increased vision allowed me to see fingerprints on it and I looked at his fingers. They had a match and I said, “These are your fingerprints!” I threw the knife at him, hitting him in the chest. “You sick, cannibalistic, ********!” I shouted, “You’re going to pay for the deaths of these innocent children. Instead of doing what you did, I’m going to make you feel your death.” He shouted no multiple times in fear, but I still killed him. I turned my hands into blades and cut off his arms and his legs. He screamed in agony and I said, “Crooks go to prison. Lunatics go to asylums. None of them get the justice they deserve.” I grabbed his jaw and tore it off and stabbed him 54 times in the chest. He died from bleeding to death and I teleported to the crook’s location. I tortured him for not telling me about the children. With rage I impaled him with a masamune. Whatever was left of Vincent Colman was gone forever, along with those children. I became Duskcrawler permanently. There was no going back, I was going to be this until I died. Since then, I realized that in the real world, our world revolves around our actions, not around what God does. Accusing God for what’s been going on is pointless. God didn’t kill the children, God didn’t bring that butcher knife to their skin, God didn’t feed him to that cannibalistic sadist. It all happened because of action, not God. Don’t you get it, Titan? Our world is dying because you’re not going out of your way to save it. Instead, you’re watching it die. Ra wouldn’t do this, he’d try and save it, as would many gods. So, what’s it going to be?” Nocturnal Titan paused and finally said, “Let’s go.” He teleported himself and Duskcrawler to Earth. 6:59 P.M. Ramesses, Behemoth, and Sweet Revenge went on his boat and chased after Apep. He flew beside the Boat of Ra and disappeared behind them. Behemoth jumped off and became an albatross and flew towards him. He transformed into a beluga whale and fell on him. Apep morphed him into an amoeba and teleported him into the water. Behemoth transformed into a cheetah and chased after him. Ramesses fired his cannons at him but missed Apep with all of his shots. Apep grabbed him telekinetically and said, “Ramesses II never could save himself from me.” Ramesses looked at him without fear in his eyes and Apep teleported him to the ground. “Since Ramesses II was a great opponent, I guess I should let you live.” “Will you please just shut up.” Ramesses the Impaler ran towards the Boat of Ra but Apep teleported him to the sky. Behemoth jumped into the air and transformed into a pterodactyl and rescued him from Apep. Behemoth transformed back into his human form with Ramesses falling down beside him. Behemoth shouted, “Damn. If only we had Duskcrawler and Nocturnal Titan to help us.” Apep teleported onto the Boat of Ra and said, “How naïve, don’t you think?” Duskcrawler and Nocturnal Titan won’t be able to save you from me.” A shadow began to move and formed into a body with white evolving eyes and evolving moon. “Hate to burst your bubble, Apep, but you shouldn’t be so arrogant.” As Duskcrawler stood there, a circular ray of silver light with a glowing silver man appeared. “He is right. Arrogance and strength is a deadly combo.” “No matter. I will destroy all of you.” Duskcrawler jumped atop Apep but Apep teleported away only to find that Nocturnal Titan teleported in front of him. Nocturnal Titan vaporized Apep but he regenerated his body. Duskcrawler sank into the shadows and turned the shadows into a giant crater. Apep was dragged down into the crater by the tentacles. Nocturnal Titan teleported himself and Duskcrawler to the crater. Nocturnal Titan grabbed him and threw him fast and teleported Duskcrawler to Apep. Duskcrawler turned his hands into claws and impaled Apep. Duskcrawler jumped off and teleported around the demon and kept clawing at him. Nocturnal Titan then vaporized him with Apep regenerating his body. Apep then said, “Alright, it looks like you win this battle. But, be warned, you will all be mine.” Apep faded away into the air. “That coward,” Duskcrawler said, “If he really thinks he can kill us, he’s in for a big surprise.” 8:34 P.M. The Boat of Ra made its way to Washington DC. Unfortunately, there was no sign of the demon. Apparently, this wasn’t where he wanted to go. They flew over to New York with no luck. Suddenly there was a news broadcast about the supposed identities behind The Nocturnes. As the reporter was talking, a demonic, slander figure appeared in front of the reporters and said, “Well, you have no taste in enemies.” “Who are you?” “I am many things. I am the Nightmare of Ancient Egypt, the Evil That Lingers in the Dark Corners of Africa’s history, but you may call me, Apep.” He looked at them and said, “I am here to reveal myself to the world. But you two are in my way. I can’t have that.” Apep lifted his hands and a flashing light disintegrated the reporters. “Now that I have your attention, I have a simple plan: Annihilate the world to make it mine. For millenniums, I was an eternal enemy to the wretched, Ra. But, I have resurfaced and I am here to make all of you my minions. I shall destroy this world and from the destruction, you will all rise to be my slaves. But I cannot now, for I am only a demon and not a god. So, I’d suggest that you spend your time wisely and worship me. Be gone inferior race!” He teleported away. “No…” Sweet Revenge whispered. “Come on, we have to stop him!” Duskcrawler shouted. “Hold on, we have to let the public know that The Nocturnes are back.” Ramesses said. “There’s no time for that, we have to enact justice and kill him.” Duskcrawler said. “No, Duskcrawler,” Nocturnal Titan said, “We have to give hope to the people. If not, everyone will be afraid.” “We ca---” Nocturnal Titan teleported the group to Washington DC for a public appearance. “This is really annoying…,” Duskcrawler whispered, “I’m surrounded by imbeciles…” Ramesses walked over to the microphone and announced, “Hello, citizens of the world, I am Ramesses the Impaler and we’ve come to tell all of you that the world is not doomed. We are The Nocturnes and, although superheroism is outlawed, we are the world’s only hope of survival. So, we have one, and only one, request: accept us and let Congress repeal the bill outlawing superheroes. Now, who’s with us!?” The group looked off to the crowd to find that people began to clap. Ramesses looked at Duskcrawler and said, “That worked to our advantage.” “What was the point? Begging for us vigilantes to go back to superheroism for public appeal?” “No, it was to show America that we are back and that we’re ready to vanquish this demon.” “Whatever, it was still pointless.” Duskcrawler faded into the darkness and left. “Do you want me to go find him?” Nocturnal Titan asked. “No, wherever he’s going, it’s more than likely going to be our benefit. Besides Duskcrawler can handle himself.” “Alright, but if Apep comes back---” “Don’t worry, Titan, he’ll come back to us, real quickly.” “How do you know.” “I’m one of the world’s top geniuses, Titan,” Ramesses said, proudly, “I know these things through above human knowledge. Studying many things allows me to know these things.”
