Have you ever incorporated your cross stitching into something other than wall-hangings and cards? Have you ever combined cross stitch with other mediums like paint or plastic? What's the most outrageous thing you've ever used your cross stitching for?

Yesterday I finished a bookmark for a friend and decided I wanted it to be a bit sturdier, so I tried to line the aida cloth with fabric paint. It turned into a huge mess! After the work I'd put into it, I didn't want to just throw it away, so I thought about a way to make the fabric paint part of the art.
The character I stitched is a murderer, so I mixed red and black fabric paint and smeared it here and there to look like blood spatters. I was even able to use it on the back to secure my somewhat loose stitches! Talk about functional art. rofl
