lol, my coach gives us distance runners the new spandex, and gives the sprinters the old 10yr old uniforms. i know random

distance it takes more mentally instead of just going all out sprint as fast as u can go. more strategy and moves are made during a good distance race

Honestly, I believe that sprints and distance are both very similar. If you do the "death waddle" as my coach says, you are going to not be very fast in your distance run as opposed to having power in your step; not quite springing but not staying on the ground as long as possible with each step. Sprinting is the same thing. If you run with control and power in each stride, driving you knees and arms, but still doing it in a calm, relaxed way, you will therefore go again, faster. Also, both are very mental. If you are psyched out at the state competition in either type of race (Like I was in my 300m Hurdles), and you do not know how to convert your nerves into power and speed, you will choke and run stiff feeling like you are running fast, but only ruining your race in the process. One last thing that makes the two similar, is that no matter what, you give it you all and nothing less. You must do gooder good than your gooder goodest. In a distance run, if you are not totally and completely dying at the finish line, you didn't push yourself. If in a sprint you did not run as calm as you could have, or run at your fastest, even if you did win, you didn't REALLY win in comparison to the person that got second going all out. Besides, going all out and trying your hardest even if you didn't win, gives you the self accomplishment in either distance, throwing, jumping, vaulting, or sprints. So in conclusion to my previous post, one is no better than the other, I believe. However, that is just my honest personal opinion and I am willing to listen to other people's thoughts on the situation.

i personally like mid first distance second and sprints last im gettin to the point although were i sprint most of my races

Then you can look back from the finish line and blow them a raspberry! biggrin xd whee
