Title says it all... but um, Hi
I didn't see an "introduce yourself type of thread, so I figured I'd post here. I'm sure this post will fade into the void quickly enough.
I've got a couple newb questions, first off being what do you use for character sheets? custom, or do you have a database site that stores them?
Secondly which ed. does everyone use.
I'm sure as I browse all the existing threads I'll find out my answers, but if you'd be so kind as to answer anyway, that'd be awesome! it'll ensure i'm not you know, seeing things or something.

Hey Mullidae and welcome to the guild! To answer your questions, we have two character sheets that are widely used in the guild. One is a custom sheet that you post in the character sheet subforum Character Sheet. The other is from a handy site called Myth Weavers - http://www.myth-weavers.com and the sheets from there look like this: My character sheet. We use any and all editions here, although 3.0 and 3.5 are the most popular right now. Let us know if you have any other questions about the guild or anything and we'll do our best to get everything answered ^_^ And again, welcome to the guild!

np, I'll take a look around at the open campaigns i guess.
I know you just signed off, but perhaps you or someone else can answer when you're on next;
is it preferred to make a few characters to have a "stock" of them, or do you prefer people just make one whenever they find a new campaign. I have one character i'm making either way, but i was curious.

I'll be happy to post there as well.

I guess that depends on personal preference. For me, I create the characters as needed, then keep them around in case I can use them again. Other players have a stock of 5 or so characters that they keep around to use for whatever comes up.
And don't worry, the bar is there for fun and silliness - you're free to start discussion, campaign, or contest threads here in the guild to your heart's content.

I started with 3rd ed, so THACO (i believe i spelt it right) is not something i know the intricacies of myself. but i'm sure that's a fun version to play as well

THAC0.
AD&D games require more skill and what not compared to 3.0+ A common thing I say about it is that, "Its good for weeding out the incompetents" Don't get fancy feats or up to 30+ in several stats, max is 25, and you are almost never going to get it that high. Don't increase stats as you level up.

Don't increase stats as you level up. i suppose that makes sense; should have thought about that... "to hit armor class 0", there's no O in it... ya, one of my buddies, my DM, 2nd ed. is his Favorite, though he's never tried to run a campaign with my groups. claims if that it's far more story/creativity based, rather than massive stat increases. Once i'm used to the forum version of dnd perhaps I'll try and give 2nd. a shot

No need to apologize Kishi.
It is much much more storyline/creativity based. I might still have a spot open in my 2.0 campaign once you get used to forum play.

@ Flambe: xd :
@ Mullidae: 2nd is a lot of fun and I'd encourage you to give it a shot once you're comfortable with playing on the forums.

I didn't spot an "official" introductory thread when I first popped in either, but I'm new too =] Its been a couple years already but I recall using the 3.5 version mostly. I DM'ed my own campaigns maybe.. three years, I think.
Everyone seems pretty nice so far. I won't tell them I'm nervous to see so many new faces xD
