 He paced...back and fourth....back...and fourth...unsure what to do. She liked him but...could he really tie himself down to one female? True, he had had a few 'slight' relationships in the past, but nothing lasted long. He stopped and groaned, rubbing his head. What was he suppose to DO!? He sat down, thinking. He still wasn't quite sure exactly what he thought of her. He really didn't know if he liked her that way or not. It was a difficult situation and he wasn't sure what to tell her. He sighed as he got up, walking over to lay down on a rock, which had been warming in the sun as he rested his head on his paws, watching the sun reflect on the lake in the distance. He wished this was easier. Man, girls were so damn confusing! Why couldn't she just be like the others? Have some fun then get annoyed and leave. Pfft, girls were just so stubborn! He couldn't make sense of WHY she would even like him. He mocked her, how did that make her like him? Odd...very odd...but he still wished he knew why he didn't just say 'I don't like you that way'. Why even think it over? He did like her did he? Wouldn't he know if he did? Hmm...

 Samhain wandered aimlessly, it seemed that was all she could do since she spilled her unsure guts to Akua. Why was she so damn captivated by him? Why had she told him?! She hadn't even been sure herself, at the time. She should have walked away, that's what a normal person would do, walk away to get out of the situation. She had replayed the conversation in the field that day over and over in her mind, trying to figure out when she had decided that she liked him, even though she didn't really know. More importantly, she tried to figure out WHY she liked him. She had decided that it was because he got under her skin. Most people, she would just blow off, but Akua, he was pushy, he got under her skin, he presented a challenge. She remembered telling him once that some day, a woman was going to prove him wrong about all his misconceptions. . . She also remembered secretly hoping that that woman was her.
She suddenly caught the smell of. . . Akua? Damn. She had been hoping she wouldn't run into him. She wondered if she could just avoid him altogether. She began to curve to the right, hoping that she could avoid him while at the same time, part of her longed to see him, even if he did constantly taunt her. She doubted if she could make it past without him catching her scent, but at least if he didn't want to see her, he could just ignore her.

His eras twitched...he heard a sound. Lifting his head, he felt the breeze blow past him, a scent carried on it. It was Sam. He frowned...he wasn't sure if he was willing to see her yet. He hadn't come to a decision after all. He sat there....wondering if she could smell him. He was downwind right now, but today was windy, and it kept moving back and fourth, so, maybe she would be downwind soon and smell him to. He stood up, and began pacing. What to do...what to do...He stopped and waiting....wondering if she was looking for him, or if it was just a coincidence that they were so close.
After mulling it over some time, he sighed as he began to walk in the direction of which he had picked up her scent. Might as well get this over with, and maybe seeing her would help him decide what he planned to do. He followed her scent on the wind, until he stopped, hearing walking. Was that her? "...Sam?" he called as he stopped, waiting for a reply...or a lack of. Maybe she didn't want to see him yet? Hmmm...

Sam stopped dead in her tracks, was that her name she had just heard? She turned in the direction she had heard it and saw a flash of orange. She sighed deeply, Akua she thought as she caught his scent, sharp and close. There was a pang of nervousness that hit her stomach and her heart ached slightly in longing to see him. Why couldn't she control this feeling? She began walking towards where she thought he stood and walked through the edge of the trees into the clearing where he was. As her eyes landed on him, her heart skipped a beat and she was sure it showed in her eyes. "hi. . ." she knew she sounded depressed but she hoped he wouldn't catch it.

He saw her come out of the brush, approaching him as he stared at her for a moment, then heard her speak, but it sounded a little, sad. Almost like she was a little disappointed she found him. Or, that he found her. "Hey." he said in response, still a little unsure. "I thought I smelled you." he said, not sure what else to say. How do you just SAY 'I don't know yet if I want to date you or not'? But he really didn't know. He knew it was foolish to expect to just KNOW when he saw her, but it would be nice if it really was that easy... "Umm...you been...well?" he asked, trying to strike up a conversation.

Sam looked up at him, meeting his eyes for the first time, "Yeah, as well as can be expected." she walked over to a sunny spot that broke through the overhead foliage and flopped onto the ground, unsure what else to do at this point. It was going to be awkward, she supposed, her having told him she liked him and him being so unsure. You would think he would know! But she reminded herself that he was young at heart and that he wasn't as sure of these things as some would be. Hell, she wasn't sure herself. She looked up from her paws at him, "So, how about yourself? chowing down on more food than you should, I see." The jab was half-hearted, but she was trying to break the awkwardness.

He wasn't sure what else to say really. Normally he would mock her but....with her recent confession would it be fair to mock her? Hmm...though he supposed acting normal could be the best approach....hmmm what to do what to do....when he heard her comment he frowned, then grinned at her as he chuckeld. "Aha! This coming from the tubby lady? My my. Well I am certain I can out run you, so who's the one eating more then they should really hmmm?" he asked with a grin as he puffed out his chest to show off to her.

Sam cleaned her paw as if uninterested in what he had to say, "Hmph, well, if that is so. . ." she stretched long and slow, extending her legs as much as she could. "Perhaps we should see, eh? Ready? Go!" Without any more warning, she took off towards the river, her body gracefully arching as her feet moved under her, making her seem to fly quickly through the trees. She loved running and the energy it took to fly through the trees made her feel free. She smiled widely as her muscles took on the familiar task.

He saw where she was going with this before she started to spring. But he gave her the head start. After all, he was one of the fastest, if not the fastest, giet around! He never lost in a race! He grinned as he gave her a minute before he quickly sprinted after her. It didn't take him long to catch up to her as he grinned running next to her, before thinking...where exactly were they running to? "Hey, where...are...we...rac..ing...to?" he asked between breaths.

Sam turned her head to him momentarily and smiled. Without a single word, she surged forward broke through the trees, leaping into the water of the river. At this point in the river, the water was shallow and the current was slow, but the water was still deep enough to cover her back, but leave her head dry. She rolled so that her body was completely submerged in the water and then hopped out of the water on the same side she had jumped in. She shook some of the water free of her coat, leaving it puffed out. She sat on the bank of the river and proceeded to flatten out her coat, leaving it shining in the sun that broke through the trees. "I wanted to go for a swim!" She grinned at Akua.
