The fourth district of the town of Dual Gear and probably the poorest. While being poor isn't something that they ask for, it isn't without it's benefits. For this reason they aren't dragged into conflicts involving money, therefore they have a more casual standard of living. On the other hand, unfortunately the slums lean a little deeper into G.E.A.R.B.O.L.T. which makes them easy prey for the mechanical beasts that dwell underground. Here you can find, general accessory shops, support magic shops, and even item shops when exhausted on your travels.

Kale made his way into District Four with very few problems. He passed people continuing their daily lives and generally following a pattern to their own lives. He felt bad for them but he really could do nothing for them. As he came to a weapon shop he ducked into the alley right next to the shop.

"Well time to go home I guess. If I can even call it a home. It's more like a base, a secret hide-away. Oh I know it's my hide-out," He stated to no one but himself as he continued a little ways down the alleyway to a man-hole cover. He walked to the left of the man-hole and found that his crowbar was still in its nice cubbyhole under a loose stone in the ground. He grinned as he walked back over to the man-hole cover."To the sewers.AWAY," Kale exclaimed comically before he pried the cover off and dropped into the sewers crowbar in hand.

Kale was once again truly annoyed. He had started his search when nightfall had hit and he still had not found the android. "Man I need to get a tracker and put it on the damn kid next time," Kale growled out with a metallic sound in his voice due to his helmet. He was sitting right next to the man-hole that lead to his base pondering how to find the little runaway robot.

"The only place I haven't checked is in the sewers and very few are dumb enough to travel those tunnels alone let alone with a squad behind you," Kale thought to himself but then wondered how smart the boy truly was. His 'employer' told him that the boy was mostly robot now and needed to be returned but nothing else. He was not told of what the boy could do or what training he had when he was with his 'makers'. Kale truly hated people like that. He needed all the info he could in order to take out his targets. He needed information on habits, traits that stand out, training in whatever it may have been, no matter how small he needed to know so he could get close to his target and abduct them or kill them without him being traced.

To say that Kale was annoyed would be an understatement. "O k, I know what I'm gonna do with the kid once I find him again. Those bastards want to jip me of info on my target I'll give them info on where he is headed but help him outta this dump first and then probably help the little robot fall off the radar for a while. Yeah, that's what I'll do," Kale mused to himself as he kept himself shrouded in the shadows around him with his seishou.

Kale was fed up with debating on whether or not he should go into the sewers to search for the android."You have better hope I find you before something down there does you little piece of scrap metal," Kale sighs to himself before he pops open the man-hole and jumps down into the sewers in search of his very annoying prey.

Myles walks the winding streets of the Slums. For most people coming into the Slums, walking outside at night is suicide. But when you're born there, you either grow up knowing the places to avoid or you don't get a chance to grow up, period.

We're being hunted.

I know. I also recognize the hunter. Let me handle this.

The shadow that had been pacing him now come up behind and pulls out a plasma pistol as they pass an alley. "Yer getting mugged, man. Pull out the cash nize and slow."

"What's the word, Thunderbird?"

The shadow immediately drops, revealing a guy about Myles' age, short hair dyed hot pink and slicked back. "Millions an' billions! That really you?"

"I'm afraid so. T-bird, what in the screaming white-hot epileptic HELL are you doing? Mugging people? Seriously?"

"Hey, I only mug the straights when they happen to wander this way."

"So I ain't a slum bum anymore, 'zat it?"

"Once a slum bum, always a slum bum, my man. You can take the bum outta the slum, but you can't take the slum outta the bum."

"I'm going to see if Maude's got a room. What, pray tell, are your feelings toward a cuppa at this late and misty hour?"

"My good man, I dare say I should not pass up a visit to yon distinguished establishment."

"Then lets get out of here before the tin rats start getting hungry."

The pair walks off to Dirty Maude's, a pub a few streets over.

A word about the pub known as Dirty Maude's.

It is absolutely nondescript from the outside, looking as ramshackle as everything else in the Slums. The only identifier that it is indeed some sort of establishment is the wooden sign above the door, with the words Dirty Maude's handpainted in a precise and elegant script.

Upon entering, the common first reaction is that there is absolutely nothing dirty about Dirty Maude's. On the contrary, it is immaculately spotless, and looks more like a tea room than a pub. Yet there are tables and a bar.

In one corner, there is a low round wooden stool, painted white with pink ribbon tied fancifully around the legs. At the top of the walls there is a high shelf circling the room. This shelf is lined with porcelain dolls. A sign behind the bar states clearly: "Violence gets the time-out stool. Persistent or aggravated violence gets the shelf. If you enter the pub, you submit to these rules."

And this is no exaggeration or joke. It means exactly what it says. Anyone who commits violence on another person in Maude's becomes a little girl in frilly dress upon the time-out stool, and is stuck there for ten minutes, but is stuck in the form until walking out the door. Anyone who attempts to commit further violence in this transformed state becomes yet another porcelain doll on the shelf. A killing results in immediate doll transformation without benefit of time-out. If you don't like the rules, you're free to leave.

It is for this reason that Maude's has become neutral ground for various factions in GEARBOLT. Weapons are carried freely, because to actually use them is either impossible or suicidal.

As for Dirty Maude herself, she is as clean as her pub. A prim and proper old lady, the only thing odd about her appearance is her left eye, which is an empty socket in which she wears various smooth-tumbled gemstones as glass eyes. She is highly skilled in sorcery and various forms of divination.

Myles opens the door, and is not at all surprised to see Maude standing right there expectantly, a milky opal in her eye tonight. "Hope you weren't waiting long, Miss Maude."

"I wouldn't have said a thing if you hadn't mentioned it, dear, but you do seem to be a tad late. As I was preparing the chicken for the oven I read your arrival to be earlier."

"Then I apologize profusely. You know how fate and I have tended to get along. A tempestuous relationship, to put it mildly. I probably don't even need to ask, but would you happen to have-"

"A room tonight? Of course dear, but for now, please do sit down and tell me what you've been up to, and how you met that fascinating new traveling companion."

Thunderbird speaks up, "I ain't new, Maude, me 'n Millions go way back, remember?"

"Oh, I wasn't talking about you, Thunder dear. Myles, why don't you explain it to both of us over some relaxing chai?"

And so Myles and T-bird sit at the bar as Maude pours, and Myles proceeds into the tale...

In the morning, Myles climbs to the roof of Maude's, and vanishes from sight as he transforms, his skin matching the colors of the sky. Unseen, he takes flight.

Looking at the word this way is going to take a lot of getting used to.

Well, we had to change all the way in order to carry the supplies.

Kale ducked into the alleyway next the usual weapon shop. He walked slowly over to the cover of the sewers and found his usual crowbar under its normal rock. He pried the cover off and put the cover right next to the hole. Kale didn't look back to see if the metal people kept up or decided to run off but he had a good feeling they were not far behind him. "Well you might want to keep close cause getting into my house is a lot more dangerous than any traps that I could think up when its time for the creatures to wake up. Oh, and we'll play a little game when we get into my house. Don't worry about it being dangerous cause it wont be. It's just a stupid kids game I like to play with people," Kale said as he readied his knives and dropped down the hole to proceed into his, so called, home.

The robot girl had followed Hone and Kale, looking around at this new place. It is darker, with narrow, crooked roads. The buildings aren't as large, but their proximity and the fog that hangs in the air create a dimness even in the day.

She turns and listens as the armored man speaks. "Keep close. Understood." She follows him into the hole.

Hone took long steps as he walked down the dirty roads, well he was used to being dirty, sleeping next to dumbster and stuff like that. The armor guy took the sewer cover off and warned them about it being dangerous and Hone knew exactly how dangerous it was, but he silently just nodded for agreement.

This guy seemed really childish, wanting to piss off who ever was after Hone and about him wanting to play a "game".

"I just hope the game doesn't have anything to do with those monsters.." He thought as he went down to the hole.

Kain treaded onward through the harsh slums of G.E.A.R.B.O.L.T., searching for pretty much any signs of a cure for the Black Tears. he heard a few footsteps nearby, then turned to see a few random men with guns and knives. the biggest of the three men had ordered Kain to hand over all he had. Kain, however, had other plans, as his skin began to change to a sickly blue shade, and a blob of pure darkness formed in his hand. he let it fly, watching it engulf the stupid thugs in a matter of seconds. killing them was a bit much, but, by his logic, they wanted to kill him. also, most people say that it's bad luck to mess with someone of the Black Tears. Kain was living proof. he then continued onward, in search of anyone who might know the cure that he so desired.

"Do you wanna play a game?"

A chuckle could be seen as a man walked down through the slums. Well, more like a boy of fifteen, or so he seemed. His white ears blended in with his hair, making it hard to tell he had any. He was wearing a purple shinobi suit, with thin, lightweight black armor over his shoulders and chest. A white scarf with red marking around his neck and a broadsword on the back of his waist. Just by one look, people could tell who he was. "Hello there! That was amazing. Do you like to play games?" He asked, in a seemingly adorable voice. He was much older than he appeared thanks to his manner of speaking, but he had no reason to act any different then normal, for the moment.

"Teehee! You're dead."

Kain turned to look at the boy who addressed him, a confused look on his face. his darkness faded, and his skin went from blue to white again. "that depends. what kinda game are we talkin' about?" he asked the boy. he felt something odd and suspicious about him, so he was prepared to defend himself, just in case.

"Do you wanna play a game?"

"Teehee! Honestly, anything. I just wanna kill. Okay!?" Varia said as he opened his eyes to reveal sinister crimson pupils. "But, I'd prefer not to play this game against you. Much too lazy for that." Varia's ears twitched as he smirked.

"Teehee! You're dead."
