Things had gotten quiet lately. For a while, everything had been a busy storm, meeting other weapon/technician pairs, traveling the world to complete missions, and all while balancing schoolwork. With that burst of hustling energy, however, it was only a matter of time before things began to settle down.
Eventually they didn’t pick up that many missions from the mission board and all three had been more focused on the school work and lounging around than socializing with their friends or pursuing interactive hobbies. Rainer didn’t mind that, though. He enjoyed sports, but he liked practicing his drums too. The feel of a deep, steady beat that flowed through his body like gentle water soothed his mind. Losing himself to the rhythms of the drums was so easy, it was unsurprising to open his eyes and glance at the clock, discovering that an hour had passed in the blink of an eye.
Caine and Kang Ling loved the indoors and Rainer didn’t mind, but it was really the outdoors where he felt particularly at home. After a spell of being a home-body for so long, it was time for the eighteen-year-old to finally get a whiff of fresh air.
Too bad it was pouring cats and dogs outside. Not even a step out of the house and he would undoubtedly become soaked. Light blue mournfully stared out the window as the rain pattered against the glass. After a while of doing that, Rainer finally put his down (not literally) and decided to go outside anyways.
It was just water. What harm could it do? Fetching the soccer ball that had rolled under his bed, he eagerly threw it back and forth in his hands as he ran out the door and into the rain.
Not shocking when Rainer found his clothes already soaked through, he dropped the ball to the ground and began to dribble, content to just be outside.

Rayne wasn't lost really, she wasn't quite sure where she was, but that didn't mean she was lost. After all, sooner or later she would wind up somewhere she knew or she supposed she could call Dario and tell him to pick her up if she really, really wanted to, but she didn't want to. Unlike the older boy she liked the rain and given the choice of being outside or being stuck inside with him (she was starting to believe the rain was making him even less talkative and that was not okay), she had gladly chosen to spend her day outside even if it meant that she could now verify that the silver eyeshadow was not waterproof even if the black and purple shades were.
Turning another corner, she paused, briefly surprised to actually see someone else outside in the down pour when she had only seen a handful of people total today and most had been rushing to the next dry place as if their lives depended on it; but this boy was just outside, seemingly playing alone in the rain and not looking particularly bothered by it even though he looked rather wet. What a weird kid.

Was Rainer weird? In certain ways he was, but he believed that everyone was weird in their own way. People had their unique quirks that made him odd. It just so happened that the eighteen-year-old seemed to have a couple more odd things about him than most others: practicing soccer in the rain being one of them. Only the soccer fanatics would dare to do it. The lad certainly liked the sport – any sport, really. The monochromatic ball just happened to be the first thing he saw on his way out.
A tickling sensation in his nose and he paused his dribbling to curiously bring his hands close to his face. Rainer crinkled his face and slowly took a breath before loudly sneezing. Seemed like he wasn’t very tolerant of the rain, but he still decided to stubbornly remain outside. While he bent down to pick up his ball, he noticed a girl around his age staring in his vicinity. Once he straightened his back he looked around and after finding no one else but the two of them, Rainer smiled at her.
“Is something wrong?” he called out.

"Only with your head." The words were out of her mouth before she had really thought them through and were emphasized by a roll of her eyes and a pout-y little frown. Really though, there had to be something wrong with him... it was one thing to like walking in the rain, another entirely to like playing in it. Especially something as ridiculous as soccer.
Another moment of contemplation and she decided she may as well approach him more closely, if only because he had now taken note of her and raising her voice over that much distance was annoying. "You are gonna get sick."

“My head?” Rainer repeated with a curious tilt of his head. As quickly as he replied, he realized the meaning of her words and laughed at his folly. “Oh! Well, not everyone can have a perfectly sound head, I suppose.” He smiled, perfectly fine with the idea that he was not fine at all. Rainer stared at the ball in his hands for a few seconds before bending down and letting it plop to the ground with a gentle splash. He idly dribbled the soccer ball between his feet while remaining completely oblivious to the fact that his sneakers were completely soaked from the outside in.
“Yeah, I’ll get sick, but won’t you get sick too?” he mused with a calm grin, looking up to briefly look at Rayne. He placed one foot on the ball and in one fluid movement, managed to roll the ball and kick it into the air. Rainer balanced the ball on his knee and carefully shifted it to his other knee, his eyes trained on the sphere as it flew up and down, from one leg to the other. “Ah! I was gonna ask if you wanted to play soccer with me for a bit, but you probably don’t want to, right?”
