House of Night is a thrillingly engaging book series that follows 16-year-old Zoey Redbird, who gets “Marked” by a vampyre tracker and begins to undergo the “Change” into an actual vampyre. She has to leave her family in Tulsa and move into the House of Night, a boarding school for other fledglings like her.

It’s within the school’s walls that the heart of the action takes place as Zoey meets new friends, finds love, comes to terms with how her life will be different now and begins to realize her awesome new powers.



Rule #1:
If you’ve been Marked by a Tracker, night has chosen thee. You will go through the Change and turn into a vampyre. However, if your body rejects the Change, you die.

Rule #2:
If you are Marked, you must leave your home and move into the House of Night school, where you will take your place as a fledgling and live for four years.

Rule #3:
At the House of Night School, classes begin at 8pm and end at 3am. The gym is open until dawn.

Rule #4:
You can never be far from an adult Vampyre for long. And it’s not like you’ll turn into a pumpkin. It’s a much bigger deal than that.

Rule #5:
Formal rituals are held at Nyx’s Temple twice a week. At the ceremony’s commencement, turn to the east, south, west and north to summon (in order) air, fire, water and earth.

Rule #6:
If one of the cats at the school chooses you, you will belong to him or her.
Not the other way around.

Rule #7:
Every High Priestess is given an affinity, or special powers, by the Goddess.

Rule #8:
If you ever leave school grounds, you cannot wear any part of your uniform (which is primarily basic black) and must conceal all tattoo markings.

Rule #9:
Here at the House of Night school, there are no lockers. You will have cabinets in your homeroom. If someone steals something, the vamps will know it. As will Nyx.

Welcome to the Boston House of Night!


If you are a new fledgling, simply walk into the reception area and let the receptionist know who you are. She will direct you and make sure the High Priestess is aware of your presence.

Professor Raphael Vigée-Lebrun enters the lobby of the Boston House of Night. He walks up to the High Priestess Maharani, places his fist over his heart, and bows as a sign of respectful greeting to the other vampyre. "Well met, High Priestess Maharani. The school break seems to have treated you well."

Professor Raphael adjusted the large black suitcase over his shoulder before replying to the High Priestess. He smiled gracefully and said "Yes it has treated me very well, and I cannot wait to get back to class. A break is always nice, but absence makes the heart grow fonder. I have missed the fledglings and their quirky antics. If you will excuse me though, I must get ready for this evening's event."

Raphael bowed his head in gratitude to his High Priestess and walked down the corridor towards the Teacher's Quarters to get ready for the night's festivities.
