I was reading Wage, Labour, and Capital and I wasn't quite sure about the difference between Labour and Labour-power. Would anyone explain in an example more consistent to our times please? Thank you.

Okay. Labour is the process in which human regulates, starts and controls the material reactions between themselves and nature.
Labour-Power is the combination of of mental and physical labour capabilities existing in a human being whenever they produce something of use value.

Comrade Kotka Ooerr, I came along to ask a question too and it's somewhat related so I guess I'll pop it in here. Can anyone clarify 'social labour' for me? D: Social labour is as its name suggests. Labour that takes place socially. Factory work, anything that requires social interaction for that particular labour to take place. Though I will be honest I'm not 100% sure on this one, you might want to double check with Gracchvs.

Labour, in short, is productive work.
Labour-power is also known as 'capacity to labour'. I think that phrase is more clear than the term 'labour-power.'
Basically, a capitalist will buy your ability to labour for a given period of time. What they have bought is not the labour you do, but the ability to direct that labour.
Kot: Strictly speaking, it is what Rob said. However, if you are asking "what do you mean when you mention Social Labour in your increasingly incomprehensible rants?" well, I use it as a term referring to the whole of production in the economy.
