A curious cabinet, with magical engravings only a few can see, appears in a your girl's life.
Gabrielle Smith, a kind young maiden, is walking in a pasture when she finds a staff. The staff has goo all over it, and, upon further inspection, thousands and thousands of dead, decaying slugs. She throws it aside, horrified, and watches as more slugs are drawn to the killer, not knowing that as soon as they touched the wood, they would shrivel and burn like a dying fire. Intrigued, she uses part of her dress to wipe it off, and takes it back to her farmhouse where her mother, father, brother, and two aunts live.
She finds out that her father has bought an old display cabinet. Although small, the wooden designs and craftsmanship are majestically imprinted into the cabinet. Gabrielle notices writing on it an, upon closer inspection, realizes that it is a curse. She tries to warn everyone, but no one else can see it, so they do not heed her warning. She also notices that the staff she had found earlier has the same engravings as the cabinet.
As she is washing up for supper later that night, a cold hand presses her forward as if to drown her, but lets go before her face hits the water. Thinking it is her brother, she spins around and is confronted with only air. As she starts walking towards the dining room, a hand grabs her and pulls her down, where she comes face to face with the curse of the cabinet: the ghost who died too many times.
