 Samhain laid stretched out in the middle of a field, drying in the sun. She had been forced to swim across a rather deep creek earlier and managed to get her whole body soaked. Halfway across she had slipped and been submerged completely. She thought momentarily that she was going to drown, but managed to get her footing back. She had wandered into this beautiful field and felt the sun warm on her back and decided that maybe some sun-bathing would do her some good to dry out. Her black fur absorbed more of the sun than normal and she was so comfortable surrounded by the lovely delicate scent of the wild flowers that she found herself dozing. As she slept, she dreamt about gold and black spotted 'giets, dark scary adventures,and really really tall trees that seemed to go on forever.
She rolled over, exposing her still damp belly to the sun, leaving all four paws motionlessly sticking up from the grass.

 Akua yawned, stretching as his golden fur shined in the sunlight. He just awoke from a nice, sunbathing nap as he finished his stretching before leaping from the rock he rested on, landing in the soft grass. He looked around, good. No dumb bird. Since that little pink one showed up, she seemed to take the heat off him when it came to the bird. They were both annoying, perfect for each other. Though he would rather have the little one's company then that stupid bird's any day....oh well.
As he walked through the jungle, he stopped as he sniffed the air...picking up a familiar scent as he grinned, moving silently towards the scent. If there was one thing he knew, it was stealth. And he knew how to move, and not be heard. So he silently padded through the jungle....his golden eyes spying his target. The female Samhain. He prepared himself...bottom in the air, head close to the ground until...he leaped at her in a pounce, aiming to land directly on her. "Ha! Got ya!" he shouted happily as his paws came down on her belly before he leaped off, grinning at her. "Same old dumb chick eh?" he said with a wink.

Sam yelped out of her sleep, rolling onto her feet, fur standing on end, snarling loudly. As she realized that it was Akua, she relaxed. She shook her head to clear the sleepiness left over. "Well that's one way to wake up from a nap." She stretched, all of her muscles extending and yawning widely. "You, my friend, are a brat." She decided to just grin at his 'old dumb chick' comment rather than try to come back with some witty retort. This soon after waking, anything she came up with was likely to just get her teased. "What are you doing out here? and where is your friend the ugly Rhype?" she grinned widely, remembering how much that little creature annoyed him.

He just grinned at her brat comment. "Why thank you! I'ts not as easy as it seems to annoy someone just the perfect amount." he said as he flicked his tail. Though when she mentioned Reject, he shivered a little. "The feather bag has a new buddy to annoy. Mig picked up this annoying orphan brat so the two annoy each other instead of me. Works out in the end I guess." he said with a shrug of his shoulders. "Though the little one is far less annoying them that Rhype is. I can at least stand her presence. I hate being around that stupid, disease carrying Rhype!" he said as he shook his head. "So..." he began. "Sleeping in the middle of the day. What are you, lazy or something?" he said as he walked up to her and poked her belly. "You know, I think you are starting to get fat. I would skip the naps and go for a jog." he said, his grin wider as he leaped up into a tree, to avoid any backlash from calling her fat.

Sam snorted, examining the flattened and kinked fur on his tummy that was now so easily visible from the ground. "Looks to me like you've been napping yourself. And ooooo, you're starting to get a little belly yourself." She smirked, flitting around the base of the tree before simply sitting at the base. She had not intention of following him up the tree, remembering how that worked out the last time. She shook her coat gently and then moved into the full on sun, letting the damp spots still on her back dry in the sun.

Akua chuckled at her comment and shook his head. "No no! You see, that is where you would be wrong. See, I am a male. All muscle baby. But you are a female. And it is proven that females get fat easier. I dunno why, probably has something to do with makin' kips or something. But see I run aaaall the time so eat, nap, makes no difference to me. But you a lady will have to work harder to keep a figure." he said with a big grin. "Don't hate me for it love, it's just a fact of nature." he said, his paws dangling down off the branch as he tail flicked below him. "I would blame nature. For making me build far greater then you." he said with a big grin. But why did he enjoy taunting her so? True, he taunted everyone. But for some reason he felt more compelled to taunt her. Odd. Oh well. He would just go with it.

Samhain scoffed, "I don't know where you come up with all these so-called 'facts' but you're so full of it, I'm surprised your eyes aren't brown." She knew for a fact he was just trying to get under her skin, but she wasn't going to let him, she knew the game too well. She had grown out of much of it, and normally avoided it, but something about this slightly-obnoxious 'giet kept her talking to him, even when he was misguidedly calling her fat. "Well, since you seem to think I'm a 'fat' 'old dumb chick', I think, perhaps, sir, we should take a little look at you." she lept up onto the branch he was laying on, pretending to examine him. She examined him, poking him with her paw here and there, nodding and hmming as if she were some sort of doctor making a diagnosis. "Well, You, orange one, are a child. Never grew up, and not man enough to try. You probably wouldn't know how to treat a lady if you could get one, and you certainly wouldn't know how to please her if you did get one, nor would you want to, I suspect, being such a child." It was a slightly cruel assessment, but deep down, Sam was probably hurt by Akua's remarks even trough she wouldn't admit it, and when she was hurt, she was sometimes cruel.

"I dont need to tell you where they came from. But they are true as day!" he said as he yawned. "Oooh someone got snippy." he said at her comments as he pulled up his paws to rest his head on them. He watched her for a minute...she looked...pissed. Was she that hurt by his comments. Standing up, he leaped down from the branch and landed next to her. He stared at her for a moment, before speaking. "You...did my comments really hurt you?" he asked. Not really understanding how it oculd. "It was just a joke you know. You are suppose to laugh and shrug it off. That's what everyone does. No one takes me seriously, so I don't act serious." he said with a frown as he sat down. "But you look unhappy. I don't see that response often so it confuses me. I see annoyance a lot, but not usually unhappiness." he said, cocking his head to the side.

Samhain blinked, eyes widened for a moment. She wasn't at all sure why the teasing had hurt her, but they had. She looked up at Akua, anger fading away and a strange, sort of uneasiness took its place. "I. . . um," she paused, collecting her thoughts, "I don't really know. All I do know is that I instantly wanted to hurt you back . . ." she blinked and looked up into his gold eyes. Could she? No, no way, especially not this little sarcastic, golden-furred brat of a 'giet. No, she couldn't possibly be feeling what she thought she was. She stood and shook herself, "I'm not feeling particularly chipper today and things that normally wouldn't bother me are bothering me a lot, apparently.' She knew it was a really pathetic explanation, but she wasn't sure she wanted to admit what she suspected. She just hoped that her thoughts hadn't read on her face as easily as she suspected.

Akua stared at the female for a moment, a bit confused as he raised an eyebrow. She was stuttering? That was odd. "Why are you stuttering? Shouldn't you just know?" he asked. Luckily, he was a pretty dense guy. So he had absolutely no clue of what she might be feeling. Well, he did sorta have blond fur....sorta. He shook his head, rolling his eyes however at her comment. "You seemed a little offended the other day to. I still dont see why you would. That sounds like a L A M E laaame excuse!" he said as he stood back up, circling her. Still no clue about her 'feelings', even though she did hint it on her face . He just didn't know how to recognize those signals.

Sam gritted her teeth, she had expected him to drop it but it was obvious he wasn't. "I just don't know. Some feelings are more complicated than happy and sad or angry. Some things you just aren't sure about." or just aren't sure you want to admit she thought begrudgingly. She stared at him as he circled her, annoyance at his persistence flaring slightly. She really didn't want to have to explain it to him until she was sure herself, but she wasn't entirely sure she could get out of it without explaining it to him. He was a persistent little snot. "Did it occur to you that maybe some of the things you said were just plain hurtful things to say? Even if you were joking around, some things are hurtful either way." she said, hoping to convince him that maybe that's all there was to it, even though she knew that wasn't it.

He cocked his head to the side, still confused and not quite understanding what she was so mad about. Man he could be dense, and at times naive. When she said her last comment he frowned and shook his head. "No. How? he asked her, not quite understanding what he said that could be so hurtful. "I don't quite get what you mean. Its not like its anything I dont say to anyone. I call Mig fat all the time and she doesn't seem to care. I dont get why you care." he said, his tail still flickering back and fourth. Did he do something different this time to make her mad? Usually others just threw stuff at him and left, or ignored him rolling their eyes. THey didn't usually talk back. Hmmm...interesting.

Sam sighed in frustration, turning on him, anger flaring. "Maybe, just maybe, I CARE more than I should about what you think of me." As soon as the words were out of her mouth, she sighed, regretting telling him. She wasn't sure how he would react so she eyed him carefully, waiting for a response, wondering how much she had just screwed up their friendship.

Akua's ears folded back as he reared his head back. What was THAT all about? "Uuhh....what?" he said, a bit at a loss for words. What was she so uptight about? What he thought about her? What was she going on about? "Why do YOU care what I think about you?" he asked her curiously as he stood up again, walking closer as he narrowed his eyes, getting his face closer to hers. "Why don't you just say whatever is bugging you? Hmmm?" he asked her, cocking his head to the side once more.

Sam's ear twitched in annoyance. Could she try to blow it off as something else? Likely not, she couldn't see a real way out of explaining it to him. Was he really that dense? Anybody else would have figured it out. She took several deep breaths, thinking. She wasn't even 100 percent sure of her feelings herself, and she really didn't want to explain it all to him until she was really really sure she wanted to get herself into that sticky mess. She sighed slightly as his face came closer. "I may. . . ugh, I may sorta kinda. . . like you a lot. . . god knows why. . . but, I think I do. . ." Dear god she felt like a kip trying to confront a crush for the first time. When did she become this much of a GIRL?! Was it him? She had confronted males she liked before without this much trouble! It must be because he's so young at heart. . . she thought, trying to rationalize it. She turned her head away from him, unable to really look at him, truly frightened of how he would react. Would he laugh? Would he make fun of her? Would he run? He was so unpredictable she couldn't even come up with a likely response.
