So, unless you've been under a rock lately, the make-up community has been buzzing about the new Hard Candy line being released at Walmart. If you didn't know, Hard Candy used to be a Sephora line, known for their cute packaging and shitty quality. Now...Pretty much can be said the same. I'd read a few reviews about the products, but still wanted to try em out.
So a week ago I bought the lipstick in Night Out; the Concealer Pallete in Fair; and the In The Shadows 5-shadow book in Vice.
The lipstick, in the container, looks to be a gorgeous deep red or plum, I thought it was kind of comparable to MAC's Cyber. But, on, it's very sheer. It comes out more of just...a dark, blue-based red. Which is a pretty color in itself, and one I'd been looking for. It's very smooth to go on, feels moisturizing, and is very shiny. Think MAC's lustre finish. But I find it's not a very buildable color, since applying more tends to just wipe off what was already on. It gathers in the creases of my lips, too, even if I wear lipliner. Gloss is not an option with this, as it would wipe off. After 2 hours without eating, this was feathering and very faded. Cute packaging, though, with a ribbon on the end and a design, though it feels a bit flimsy and odd to handle.
The Concealer Pallete has the regular skin-tone shades, and a green, yellow, and pinky-purple, which are hard to find in drugstore brands. The coverage is ok, nothing to write home about. I feel like the colors come off a LOT lighter than they should. Im VERY pale, and the palest of the skintones was almost white on me. The darkest was closest to my shade, but still too light. It seems insane to me that I should have to get the darker set, since I am VERY ghost white. And it only comes in 2 set colors. But, if you rub it in, the palest looked fine on me. But if you're trying to cover something, you don't want it buffed in a lot. The colors covered sallowness, undereye circles, and redness well, though they could look a little cakey. It's in cute packaging and comes with a mini-brush.
Finally, the eyeshadows. Mine has a slate grey with navy undertones, musky green, gold, musky purple, and a kinda taupe grey color. The slate grey and purple are the only ones with any pigmentation, at all, and they don't have much. They're all chalky. The green comes out more baby green than musk, and is very sheer. The gold doesn't even show on me. Neither does the tope. They're hard to blend with because if you do too much, they entirely disappear. The primer it comes with makes no difference whatsoever, I think it might just be lotion. They crease and fade through the day, even with L'Oreal's De-crease primer(which, imho, is better than UDPP. It's very much my favorite.) I don't really find the packaging on this one terribly cute, either. I'm sent this to my sister.
Pics coming soon.
