Hello, making a post so you can post your thought on the sabbat this year. I really am not ready for it to be coming up so quickly! lol

However, I did have a vision today that I wanted to share, and thought would be highly relavent.

This year the dark is going to be longer and deeper. The usual yearly decent into darkness is going to be something altogether more powerful. I feel that this year, the goddess isn't going to fall back on old rituals and yearly rights, but will be walking amongst us, taking stock of our actions, thoughts, and lives. It brings to mind the old saying you always hear, is this where you want to be/what you want to be doing, when Jesus comes back? Only this isn't Christianity. The Goddess will be looking carefully at you this year, more so than usual, and doling out harsh lessons, but also powerful opportunities for growth. Expect chaos, expect loss, put on your witches' panties and *man* up to the challenge of this years darkness.

Blessed Be,
~Dez~

If I'm unlucky enough, I might have to work on Samhain. We have to move our office to a new building on Hallows' Eve. If we don't finish it on time, we'll have to work on Samhain. Does anyone else think Samhain should be considered a national religous holiday like Christmas or Easter?

nah, I don't think any thing religious should be national anything. I think that things like Christmas and Easter ought to be holidays given the same amount of attention as Halloween, Valentine's Day, etc, and only national specific holidays should count for days off legally, although bosses should have a choice to pay for religious holidays if they want to.

Okay, Samhein prep talk to myself, thought I'd share.

Plans involve:
~offerings to the wandering spirits on the porch, and candle lit guidance via jack-o-lantern biggrin (Lilith, my daughter, was visited by a spirit named Lydia yesterday, super creepy)
~12 month divination, and some other more complex divination for the new year
~write out a goal and game plan for next year
~list and burn things to leave behind me/sacrifice for sustenance
~Small ritual to honor the holiday's place on the wheel

The holiday's place on the wheel:
Many high days are feasts that celebrate life and renewal, nourishment and abundance. Samhein is a festival, but it's meaning is not so warm as the rest. On this day, we look at death. We honor our ancestors, the life they led and the gifts they have given us through their blood and good karma. We also attempt to communicate with them in order to give, in return for out lives, a small amount of karmic repayment. We also view death in simpler ways, such as in the falling leaves, the dropping temperatures, the frost, and the growing darkness. Here in many beliefs the God and/or goddess in escorted into the underworld and the world sleeps, lifeless and in death, awaiting the return of the sun at Yule.

So tell me, what are your plans? Is the guild really really dead?
