I'm currently waiting (and not very patiently) for the release of Stephen King's new book, Under the Dome, due out on Nov. 10th. I pre-ordered a copy like a sucker fanboy, but I still also have a copy reserved at the library in case I can get it faster that way.
This seems to be a wild year for me as far as trying to keep up with new releases. Two authors I really admire, Michael Crichton and Dominick Dunne, both recently died with completed novels. Crichton's last book, Pirate Latitudes is due out on Nov. 24 and Dunne's, Too Much Money, is set for Dec. 15 and I hope to read both as soon as their available.
In part, I can thank all the rich people who live in this town and support the public library with their taxes! :-p They generally order multiple copies of new releases by popular authors. I think I made a few people jealous by getting Karin Slaughter's latest book so fast that I was done before pre-ordered copies made it in the mail. My library outdid itself with The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, ordering no less than 35 copies! I admit I got caught up in the hype, and had finished it before it was out a week...and was very disappointed.
Besides that, I am waiting for A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris. It just came out this week, but my library only ordered two copies. Oh, well...

I have also been impatiently awaiting the release of A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris. I don't think it's out here in the UK for another week or so, though. So I envy you for being able to get hold of one earlier.
I am also looking forward to the release (possibly a re-release, but I can't find a copy ANYWHERE) of Jo Brand's new book 'The More you Ignore Me...'. I don't know if you know who Jo Brand is; she's a British comedian and I absolutely love her. She used to be a psychiatric nurse, and this novel is set mostly in a psychiatric hospital, so it should be very well informed. That's out at the beginning of January though, I also have it pre-ordered.

I almost bought A Touch of Dead at the bookstore the other day, but I couldn't bring myself to spend the money...it's really a very thin book, but was priced as much as hardcovers two or three times its size.
Edit - I had to look up Jo Brand. I guess she isn't well-known around here. There are no matches in the library system (and that's eight entire counties, not just my library). Her book Sorting Out Billy is available on a book swapping site, but it's only been rated by one user (compared to 36 for A Touch of Dead, and that's only been out a week).

Pirate Latitudes will be good and is already being made into a movie. I am awaiting The Gathering Storm by Brandon Sanderson (book 12 in WoT), Under the Dome and A Dance with Dragons (though the author himself doesn't even know when it will be finished...).

I am wondering about Pirate Latitudes since it's not his usual high-tech thriller. The only similar thing he did was The Great Train Robbery in the '70s. I didn't think I'd like that one, but it painted a fascinating picture of Victorian life and was very educational for me. I wonder if the latest one will do something similar with that time period.

Crichton is just so meticulous in his research that it seems he owns a time machine. I mean when I read Time Line I thought I was really in the middle age France.

Hmmm, well you might be able to get it off Amazon? I don't think it's very expensive either. I preordered my copy for January for £3.49, which considering books here are usually £7 or more, is a really good price!

I am not good with pounds/dollars convesion, but thebookdepository.co.uk is usually the cheapest place to get British editions here in the US. I could get The More You Ignore Me... for $19, which is a good deal with free shipping.

I gave up keeping track of new releases. The authors I look out for keep pushing their release dates back. I've been waiting for one to come out for over two years and he still isn't past the fifth chapter last I checked. They should stop making promises they are not going to keep.

Well, I was more talking about completed books slated for release, not theoretical future books.

I've got Fantastic Fiction quick-linked on my computer so I can check updates and release dates of my favourtie authours. A bunch of "my" authours just released books so now I have to wait until 2010 for the next batch of books.

Yeah, that's one of my favorite sites, but I have noticed they aren't always accurate with their release info, especially if a deadline gets moved. Anyway, I just wanted to add Horns by Joe Hill is a new one I have to look forward to...the publisher's info lists it coming out on 2/1/10.

I always keep my eye out for new books by my favorite authors. I'm waiting on a new one by Jacqueline Carey, and apparently from Stephen King as well. I love to keep up with Authors I love, and read their new works. I bought Duma Key not too long ago, but haven't gotten to reading it yet. There are a lot of books I haven't read yet sitting on my shelves now. I am never going to be at a loss for something to read again, in my life. lol

I wish time could stop... [ *waves hands in air* I keep track too! I have to get the new Ranger's Apprentice and wait for the new one to come from Australia. Then I have to get all the Demonata and get the next ones from U.K. I can't wait till I get a job, then I can buy more stuff online biggrin . ]...so we could be like this for a little bit longer.
