What do you guys think about premarital sex.
It's so common now a days, but the bible forbids it...
Do you think it's okay or are you against it?

I am against it personally, but I strongly believe that people have the right to make their own decisions.

Well, I am a VERY strong believer in monogamy: One partner for life. However, I think our culture puts way too much emphasis on the marriage ceremony. I think that if a couple really loves each other and they know for a fact that they will spend the rest of their lives together, then it's okay. My fiance and I are not married, but we have had sex. When we had sex for the first time, we talked before hand. I told him that to me, having sex is as good as a marriage ceremony. He said he understood and agreed. Now we are getting legally married in June. smile

oh man, this is an issue im really confused about. On the one hand I do think if a couple is in love and plan to spend the rest of forever together then its ok. But on the other hand, I see way to many people, that are all like, "oh baby, I know we have only know each other for like two months, but I love you so much! Lets have sex." And that to me is wrong, cuase the whole dating and weding hopla, does tend to get rid of alot of unloving couples. When you are in love its really hard to judge just how long term commited you really can be to that person. Arg, so much confusion I have.

I personally am all for premarital sex as an expression of love.
I mean, where does Jesus talk about not having premarital sex? And how much does Jesus talk about showing love?
However, I am fully aware that my opinion is out of the mainstream. I am even more fully aware that while the theories behind our decisions to have sex were completely different, I am in much the same situation as flautist (that is, in a monagamous, committed relationship).
It makes me feel sort of hypocritical, but there you have it.

Just a question, what does count as premarital sex? Well what counts as sex in general?
Normaly we think of it as being genitel contact type activities but as I read the bible, if you think lusty of someone then you just had pre marital sex sweatdrop

Unfortunetly, the bible doesn't really give us a direct definition of what sex really is. Heres some stuff I got out of crosswalk.com Quote: Leviticus 21:9 If a priest's daughter defiles herself by promiscuity, she defiles her father; she must be burned up. Well, that takes care of casual sex... Quote: Exodus 22:16 "When a man seduces a virgin who was not promised in marriage, and he has sexual relations with her, he must certainly pay the bridal price for her to be his wife. What do you think of this one?

Quote: Colossians 3:5 Therefore, put to death whatever in you is worldly: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry What is sexual immorality?

Now, if you actually go and drag something up, the exchange will go like this. Jesus: Don't have sex before you're married. Me: No, thank-you. You're a cool guy, but I'm not willing to give the health and mood benefits of the sex I get in my monogamous, committed relationship. Besides, I have a personal policy not to accept telephone solicitation.

I'm not a priest's daughter. Both my parents are physical therapists. So that means I can have casual sex without getting burned at stake, right?

Well I'm generally against it, or at least the promotion of it. I don't like how people look down on virgins the way that they do. People shouldn't be viewed as freaks just because they chose not to abide by society's expectations. And i mean, little kids around the age of 13- should not have sex. that's just gross. but they don't see anything wrong with it because that's the kind of world we're living in... I'm not saying it's ok for 14+, just that they're able to start judging for themselves what they believe is right and wrong around that stage of life.
