I've seen this thread a thousand times in the Fashion section of the Gaia Forums.... of course here are a lot of different types that can't be compared [due to price, perhaps, or designer]. But I'm kinda looking for experience.
But truthfully, which is the best mascara?
CoverGirl's Lashblast Volume Increasing Mascara (Drugstore)
[I have the waterproof version of this, and it works great. Of course it takes forever to take off, but its waterproof. So it works. I love it.]
Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Volume Increasing Mascara (Drugstore)
[I've heard a lot of good things about this one, but never tried it. No experience.]
Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes Mascara Volume Increasing Mascara
[27$ for a Mascara is pretty expensive. It has a weird brush too. No experience.]
Lancome Fatale Mascara Build Up Mascara
[21$... a lot of professionals say its the best type of mascara. Although Fatale? Sounds like "Fatal". No experience.]
Dior's Diorshow Mascara Volume and Length Increasing Mascara
[27.50$. Expensive! No experience.]
Chanel Inimitable Volume Increasing and Plump Mascara
[Say it gives a natural look 27.50$. No experience.]
These are the few I've heard a bout that are good by friends/magazines. If you know any other or have any experience please go ahead and post it! : )

Well, I've never used a lot of mascara, because I already have really long eyelashes. I just use it to cover up where my powder makeup dusts them, making them look gray instead of black.
But, I do use Define-a-Lash Maybelline mascara. It's the only one I've ever used on a regular basis. Sometimes I borrow my mom's Lancome, but that's only if I can't find mine or don't have it with me. I can't even tell the difference. There probably isn't any!
I don't believe in paying into the double-digits for mascara unless you're in dire need of it. And since I don't need it, it would be ridiculous for me to buy a tube when I could have a couple new dresses instead. wink

I have Lashblast and Lashblast Luxe(which has sparklessss). LOVE them so much. My favorite mascara, hands down. Doesnt clump, or flake. Nice smooth formula. Really lengthening and thickening. The packaging is annoying until you get used to it, though.
The Givenchy Phenomen-eyes does have an awesome brush, yeah. But the formula of the mascara is s**t. It flakes and smudges without being touched and is just generally ick. Also, it stings like a mother if it gets in your eyes. I think L'oreal has one with a similar brush I wanna try.
I also LOVE Diorshow(I have the Unlimited one). It is amazing. It gets my lashes crazy long, and thick too, but it doesn't clump or look spidery. It dries really fast, though, so if you want a 2nd coat, you have to go fast.
I also have Rimmel Glam'Eyes. Supercute packaging. But the brush is too flexible for my taste, and I wind up getting it on my lid. But it really lengthens my lashes, but it clumps a little, and melts in heat-and I don't mean I'm sweating it off, it literally melts.

I only have tried the waterproof one and I love it. Since the brush has so many teeth it really makes your eyes look good. But I have a lot of friends who say "It's not that good, i didn't like it bla bla bla it's impossible to get off" but honestly, I prefer it sticking on longer than it falling off and smudging all the time.
I also have a maybelline one, that's like in a pink bottle and a green top. It's an "ok" kinda one, i'd probably use it for like an everyday thing or something in the day, or where i won't "last long" at. But yeah, get that in your eye, and... lol, it got red and it hurt like hell.
Seriously, getting mascara in your eyes is the WORSE.
Hmmm... good to hear reviews about some of the designer ones I posted up there, since I've heard a saying that not to go with the make-up because of the designer, because it's super expensive and they waste more money making the packaging and not the formula. I might try to Diorshow for like, more special times!
And melting off? That's nuts. O_o. I hate it when my mascara smudges b/c of heat, that's why I tend to use waterproof. But melt ? Wouldn't that like, stick both sides of your eyelashes together and seal your eye shut? lol.

I haven't tried the waterproof, since I heard it's nowhere near as nice a formula. I don't really need it, anyway.
Diorshow can actually be used pretty casually, believe it or not. It depends how you work it.
It kind of shmeared and dripped down my face, it was not pretty.

I just have this black sapphire stuff from covergirl. I don't wear it often but when I do it works pretty well.
Thinking about getting lashblast though, I like the sound of it.

I couldn't even tell you what mascara I wear. I have long eyelashes, so I worked to find one that didn't specifically lengthen mine a ton. (Therefore, lash blast is not for me)
I just wanted waterproof and a little bit of volume/curl.
Does anyone know a mascara specifically for curling eyelashes? Like, I use an eyelash curler but it drives me INSANE. I have long eyelashes, but they're very straight D:

Dior's Diorshow is the best mascara.
The others are okay but not even close to Diorshow.

It really depends on the look for my lashed I'm aiming for. To make my lashes look longer I used lashblast. For them to look fuller I use, well I forgot what it's called. It's brownish/grey case. I know it said volume big on it though.

I'm a fan of Rimmel's Sexy Curves. I got it when it first came out (and was a couple of pounds cheaper), and to be honest, I think it's a good all-rounder. And it's a pretty good price.

Smashbox DNA It has an ingredient in it that is in hair conditioners that keeps it soft and smooth. Most mascaras get dry and crusty and when you apply them or if you mess with them, little black dots end up on your cheeks, which is a huge pain if you already have all of your face products on like foundation and such. DNA never gets dry and crusty like this so you never have to worry about the black spots ruining your blush and foundation. DNA also makes your lashes super black and long.
The only con about this mascara is that it only comes in black. For those of you who like to use blues and other colors, this might not be the brand for you.
edit: it's $19 at sephora

I use Sephora Brand Clear Mascara.
My eyelashes are already long and black, so I use it to just make them pop and unclump them.
It's great, except it flakes off if you rub your eyes.
