Mew stepped cautiously into the dark corridor, a flashlight in her hand and her only Noodle trotting along beside her. It wasn't long before the pair came to an intersection; one path was brightly lit, one was dark and foreboding. Mew shone her flashlight down the dark path, though showed little of what would be ahead.

"Which way do you think we should go?" mew Yoruichi.

Seeing the dubious look mew was giving the dark path, the Nood;e responded, "Just because it's dark doesn't mean its dangerous. And there could be things just as bad lurking in the light."

"Yeah, but at least in the light we could see them coming," mew responded.

"Hey, I'd watch your back if you watch mine. That's the point of going in pairs, right?" retorted Yoruichi.

"Yeah, but can you see in the dark? We've only got one flashlight, and I can't point it in front and in back at once," said mew.

Yoruichi sighed. "Fine, fine, we'll take the light path. Just turn the flashlight off to save the battery."

Mew nodded with a smile, then clicked off the light before the pair headed down the bright path.

The pair looked at each path, considering the options. "Well," mew spoke after a moment, "that side pretty much goes nowhere, so no point with that. I think I see something up ahead, so I want to check that out. If it's nothing we can head towards the part that smells like a bakery."

Yoruichi shrugged. "Whatever. It could be nothing up there," she said, pointing ahead of them, "but if it is it won't waste much time."

So the pair of them walked straight ahead to investigate whatever might be there.
