Jerard’s grey eyes twinkled with delight at the new pair before him. With a pleased face he looked at the papers in his hands and began to get down to business. They didn’t come here to chit chat with him and he did not have the time to do so even if that were the case.
“Congratulations on your formation, Miss Lee and Mr. Van de Burg,” he said in a serious tone. Shifting his gaze back at the pile of paperwork that littered his desk, the administrator also added, “I expect great things from you two in the near future.”
Already jumping back into his work and hastily scribbling and signing on forms, he waved the two off with a distracted wave. “Now that you have a partner, there are certain areas that are now available to you that previously weren’t. As such, I have arranged for a staff member to give you a tour of the school. Please wait for them to arrive outside of my office. They should arrive soon.”

"Um...thank you...sir," Wendell mumbled a bit, still nervous about being the presence of Jerard. He brushed his bangs out from in front of his face only for them to fall back in front of one eye. Ah well, that's how the style was these days. Maybe he'd dye it again. Maybe blue...yeah. He stood up, picking his guitar case up with him, and headed out the door.
"Yeah! Totally awesome Mr. Jerard sir! I will so meet those expectations and more! I totally know it!" she was far too perky....so...perky. Jumping up from her seat she grabbed Wendell's free hand and dragged him out the door.
"This is going to be totally awesome Wendell! I mean it's perfect! A cemetery owner's daughter and a funeral home owner's son! We will totally make an awesome pair!" She stood ever confidant in her usual reaper's garb. At least Wendell's emo/goth style looked normal compared to hers.
"Gah! Um...thank you sir!" he whimpered behind him as he was dragged out into the hallway to await their guide. He couldn't help but smirk a bit at her enthusiasm. Annabelle had always been like that ever since he met her that night. Her obsession with death wasn't as depressing as his, which sometimes made her the scarier of the two.
"Well we will see. I mean it will take a lot of practice you know, Anna."
"Yeah but we will ace it! I know it. Cause death is our thing! We know it sooooooo well! We will totally be in sink in no time!"

Yawning, the chosen staff member casually strolled through the halls, hands laced together and placed behind his head. A pair of dark blue headphones firmly fastened over his ears, the Death Scythe was oblivious to the few students that littered the campus. Occasionally a new student would glance at the man and hastily lean forward to whisper to their companion. Who was that pretty girl walking around and why in Sam’s name was she wearing boy’s clothes? In return they received a scolding from the other.
Don’t let the long hair and androgynous face fool you. That was not a woman. That was a man and one of the staff members that kept the school running.
A bored expression adorning his face, he tilted his head to the side and brushing his bangs away, allowing a wider field of vision to be made. Yet again he was being called to show another pair around school. It seems that after a period of little to no work, activity was picking up at the school once more. Not like that was a bad thing. It was good because that meant that more missions would be completed and more pairs to combat witches.
Pushing all his whining and complaining thoughts out of his head, Arashi made his way over to Jerard’s office. Once his destination was in sight he spotted the pair that he was supposed to show around school this time around. Stopping a few feet away from them, he beckoned the two to come forward. “I’m Arashi, I’ll be the one showing you around the school.”

Wendell was leaning against the wall when a guy waved them over. Yeah, he could tell this was a guy. He had gone through his own problems with androgyny during one phase of his life so he learned to see subtle details. He grabbed his guitar case and walked over. Using one hand he brushed back his black dyed locks back from one eye, leaving one still rather hidden. He dressed typically emo/gothic, he even had a lip ring.
"Um....Hi Arashi, I'm Wendell Van de Burg. The new tec...."
Anna was well ahead of him, the white haired wonder ran up nearly screeching to a stop. Even her black hood fell off revealing long natural white locks. Her own happy perky voice cut in on Wendell's sentence.
"Hi there! I'm Annabelle Lee! New Scythe Weapon and that's Wendell my technician! We are here to kick evil soul a** and take names!"
"Come on Anna, we just got paired. We still have lots of training."
"Doesn't matter Wendell! As soon as we get trained those souls won't know what hit them!"
Wendell sighed again and looked apologetically to the male standing there. He didn't want to seem cocky or stuck up his first day as a pair but Anna wasn't helping. Granted her enthusiasm was nice but he was more subdued than his bouncy weapon.

Light blue eye focusing on the goth kid first, he leaned forward to better listen to the boy’s soft voice when his female partner excitedly burst in and introduced them both. His eyes crinkled and shined with amusement as he leaned backwards, adjusting his violin case somewhat.
Students these days. They just seemed to get more eager and eager as time passed by. It was interesting to observe and notice as Arashi gave out more and more introductory tours. Then he sighed and reluctantly pulled down on his headphones, letting it resume its natural place draping around his neck like a large, bulky necklace.
A polite smile, more so towards the technician than the weapon. Apologies were not needed. Arashi found her personality to be quite cheerful and not that much of a hassle to deal with. All that was required was a pair of ears and some patience, the two things that the Death Scythe used best.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you two,” he said with a chuckle. Noticing Annabelle’s particular excitement for training and heading out on missions, he figured which places they wanted to see first. “I assume the first thing you want to see on your little tour would be the training areas?” Arashi inquired.

"Absolutely!!! I mean I am totally going to be there a lot!" She almost bounced with excitement. This guy seemed nice and he was willing to take them to the places she felt were most important!
"Then perhaps somewhere....that maybe I can find some quiet time?" he motioned to his guitar case. The other had a violin case so he most likely understood why Wendell was asking.
"You and your quiet time. Well at least it will give you something to do when we aren't training. That and I like your music!" she smiled to her technician then turned back to the male. "Wendell is an great musician! If he and I hadn't been teamed up I bet he'd be a famous singer one day!"
"Hardly, you know my mother and father want me to take over the Funeral home. Besides, I think your dad is already planning what graveyard you will take over," he brushed his bangs back again. Apparently it was a nervous habit.
"Yeah I know. Dad's always like, the future is in the land because that's where we will be in the end," she rolled her eyes as she repeated the constant saying of her dear daddy.
Wendell glanced to Arashi, then looked down suddenly. Most people found his parents' profession very strange and Anna's even stranger. For some reason, he figured those here would be more demeaning despite the fact they trained to kill.

Arashi laughed at her enthusiasm. It was a nice characteristic to see in young students; it meant that they were ready and itching to start missions and hopefully achieve the status of Death Scythe.
Oh yes, the dreams of many, if not all students that walked through the Shibusen halls. A difficult thing to achieve, Arashi could put his word in for it. He had spent year after year with his partner collecting numerous souls in hopes of totaling one hundred souls. The final moment that they had defeated a witch and collected their very last soul and the victory that surged through both of their bodies was still clearly imprinted in his mind. Oh, nostalgia! If only Arashi could meet up with his technician once more and chat with each other about the good old days. He hoped that this pair could someday collect their one hundred souls too, as daunting as the feat was.
Taking note of both of their preferences, he nodded his head and began to walk off, gesturing for the two to follow him. “Training areas and a quiet place,” Arashi said and grinned when he focused on Wendell’s guitar case. “Got it.”
As they headed towards their first destination, Arashi waved towards the rooms that dotted both sides. “So obviously, these are the classrooms. I wouldn’t suggest going into #5,” he said with a sly grin, a low moan emitted from said-room to prove his point. “Maybe try peeking into #7 instead? I think you’ll prefer that better.”

Annabelle smiled broadly as Arashi laughed and followed closely. She listened to everything he said. She looked around at all the classrooms, wondering what was taught in each. When they approached number five she heard the moan. Suddenly the overactive bubble head blushed brightly and almost hid behind Wendell.
"Oh come on, kissy kissy stuff STILL makes you blush?" he looked behind his back at the red faced girl.
"Oh shut up! Just cause you've had more dates that me!" she stuck her tongue out at him.
"Yeah, cause you've never been on one. You should meet other weapons or something," he smirked. He did enjoy this one thing that he had over his friend.
She just stuck her tongue out at him again. Despite her bubbly personality she was really shy about personal relationships. It was weird considering her own family was absolutely huge. She had walked in on Wendell a few times with his dates, male and female, and had never lived it down.
"So...something other than classrooms," she poked Wendell in the back.
He just laughed, looking rather handsome when he actually smiled. He filed Classroom 5 away for a later date. Or later dates.

Having discovered his liking for walking backwards as he showed new pairs around, it wasn’t like he could do this very often after all, Arashi watched Annabelle’s keen face, intently listening to every word he spoke. However, once the older man warned the pair to not step inside classroom #5, she seemed to panic as her face burned a shade of bright red, immediately seeking shelter behind her technician.
A deep laugh rumbling in his throat, Arashi smiled at the weapon’s innocence. As he watched the pair lightly quarrel he decided to throw in his five cents. “Well, I think if Annabelle is not interested in such activities, then there’s nothing wrong with it. I’ve known people who weren’t interested in dating until they were in their early 20’s, and sometimes even later! She can choose to do what she wants at whatever pace she wants,” he said before shrugging. “But that’s just my opinion.”
Once their discussion ended, Arashi took it as his next cue to point out the first thing they had been looking forward to. “Right out that window are the training grounds! And over there are the training rooms if you prefer training in private. It’s big and the walls are sturdy, so you don’t have to worry about damaging the place and such.”

"Ah I don't mean anything by it, it's just fun to pick on her." he grinned back at his weapon and noogied her.
"Hey! You big meanie!" she couldn't help but giggle and poked him in ribs. They had more of a sibling relationship than anything else. However Anna's attention was suddenly drawn to the battle fields. She pressed her face against the glass like an eager child in at the candy store with a look of wonder on her face. "So. Awesome! When can we start practicing Wendell?!?! I wana go soon! And get missions! And get souls! And.."
"Calm down. Everything in its time at it's time," he spoke in a brotherly tone. Wendell was usually the one reining in her enthusiasm with his knowledge. They were nearly the same age, only months apart, but Wendell seemed the wiser and calmer of the two. It made for a good pair; one with energy and one with logic.
"Awwwwwww...ok" she whined but still agreed and continued walking.
"So about the quiet spots?" Wendell was far more interested in finding a quiet place he could play his music, write his poetry, and generally express his emoness without constant babbling and interuption.

Arashi somewhat envied their relationship. Appearing to be close and behaving like loving siblings, it reminded the Death Scythe of his own younger brother. From the beginning he had never been in a close relationship with his sibling. Whether from differences in interests and personalities or from time constraints, he still loved his little brother, although at a distance (a very far distance, considering that he was studying in Korea), but he always hoped that someday he would show signs of a weapon or technician and enroll into Shibusen. He could only hope and dream, however.
He nodded his head and pointed at Wendell. “Right! Quiet spots,” he replied with a lazy grin, his legs moving into motion. A brief look around the around and the man’s smile grew larger. He gestured to a particular. “From the looks of your guitar case, I’d say you’re a musician, right? Same here,” he noted, nodding his head to his violin case. “Anyways! You can practice your room in the music room here. Otherwise, you can chill in the library for all your other needs.” Another shrug. “If you prefer some outdoor scenery, you could always pick a spot just outside of school or the park near here.”
Clapping his hands together. “Okay~ Almost time to wrap up this tour! First I gotta show you the most important spot of all, though!” declared Arashi with a smirk.

Wendell nodded, "Yeah but not professional. Just for reflection and expression." He smiled, glad to have a fellow musician to talk to and to understand the need for a little space. He looked at each room as they passed, nodding his head and making mental notes as to where he would most likely find peace and quiet when he needed.
Poor Anna was bored nearly to tears, she didn't mind giving Wendell his music time. Normally she loved his music but the creative process was far too sedentary and quiet for tastes. She much preferred running around and playing so she and Wendell spent a lot of time at the park. At least they had monkey bars there.
Both of their attentions were drawn to the last sentence spoken by the older Death Scythe. They were curious as to what could possibly be shown that was even more amazing than the places they had already seen?

“Tell that to the people who can’t play an instrument–period,” he responded with a laugh, dismissing Wendell’s humble answer with an exaggerated wave.
Stealing a glance at Annabelle, he chuckled at the expression on her face, almost as if she could literally die of boredom. Arashi could understand her lack of interest, though. Although they both had similar aspects, he could guess that the weapon and technician had widely varying interests and hobbies. It was reasonable to believe that the scythe was not eager to jump into a conversation about music. Personally, he was not the type to react to stifling conversations like so. The man was, after all, the staff member to cry all their worries and problems to.
He grinned back at their curious faces. “Yes, there is one more ‘amazing’ place that I’m sure you’ll be eager to see,” he said, slowly ambling towards the last destination in mind.
“And of course it’s the mission board! Where else would you get missions?”
All things important shown to the pair, he lazily stretched his arms. Eyes fixed on Wendell and Annabelle he said, “Do you have any questions about the school or something? Otherwise I’ll be . . . going . . . now . . .” Even as he spoke the weapon was already inching away from the two, eager to leave and laze around.

"ooooooo!!!!! Missions!!" the next few minutes of Annabelle's life were totally dedicated examining these missions. These were what she had daydreams of; her and Wendell slicing through the evil of the world and protecting the innocent. She imagined defeating each of the villains mentioned on the board in magnificent battles worthy of Disney heroes.
"No I think we've got it from here. I need to get back to the house, anyway. Mother and Father will be needing my help with the next viewing service. Thanks again Arashi!. Maybe we can jam together some time?" Wendell smiled cordially and waved to the retreating man. He could understand the monotony of having to give tours to all the new pairs. He would hate that job himself so he gave the other a quick way out.
"When do you think we can go on a mission, Wendell?" his weapon looked to him like a child at Christmas.
"When we actually train, now come on. Mom wanted to give us a celebration dinner after the viewing and funeral today, " he pulled his weapon away from the board and back down the hall.
