What does every one in the guild think about him winning this prize? I personally don't think he deserved it. He has done nothing to promote peace, fix the economy, make America stronger, etc. He's just done a heck of a job blowing smoke up every one's butts with his eloquent speaches and what not. Former president Bush did more for this country than Obama can ever do..If you can't tell I don't like Obama, never have, never will. I didn't vote for him, and I won't vote for him if he goes up for re-election.
So... What do you have to say about Obama winning this prize? Good or bad thing? Indifferent?

The Nobel Peace Prize is something that recognizes what an individual has done for the whole world not the individual country that they came from. In the past two US presidents were nominated and won, but didn't do anything as of yet. One of them was Woodrow Wilson. neutral

I dunno if anyone on here can verify this but i heard they usually put in the nominees in January sooo... it looks like he was up for one before he really did anything in office all together .. to me that sounds very fishy. But no i don't think much of the guy at all ever since he ridiculed the sermon on the mount, i kinda closed my ears to his lengthy blow hard speech's. I do have my suspicion that this could be all about promoting his health care plan.

If you ask me, he has not done anything to really deserve it. He has ideas, he can talk, but he hasn't done anything more than what we elected him to do in the first place: aka, it's his job.
I think the Nobel Peace Prize should go to people who really do work their entire lives to help others: like people in Peace Corps, who spend their lives going out and personally go in and help the people of this world who need it the most. Or people who give stray dogs to prison inmates, and how it changes their lives (I saw a thing on Opera when men from prison who had commited horrible crimes were chosen for the program, and how some even broke down crying...) When those people started that, they are giving those men something that can not be measured in dollars: a bit of warmth in a place where you can not show any emotion otherwise, someone to love them unconditionally, and for them to love back, someone for them to take care of, someone who will always be there for them... It changes the men's lives, and gives them the chance to feel and to be human again, it gives them gentleness and love when and where, behind those cold walls, they need something like that the most.
People like that, who are making a major difference and who have dedicated their lives to be directly involved, deserve the prize: they are the normal people of the world who see it is messed up, and who rise up, giving their lives out of love for other people in a united attempt to make this world better: and they don't get payed for it, or recognizition, or fame... they just do it out of a concerned, loving, and good heart.

No he didn't deserve it. He hasn't fixed any thing that needs to be fixed, he's made promises and thus far hasn't kept them. I don't want to hear the excuse "Wells....at least he is trying....cuz that is what you're spose to do is try... so what if he failedd...he deserve the reward for at least trying..." No, that's pathetic. It's okay to say that to a middle schooler or grade schooler, but not with the president. His mistakes affect billions of people, his decisions affect that many people too.
@Angel- couldn't have said it better myself.

Oh and might I add that since he has been in office, the unemployment rate is almost in double digits and the economy is worse than before.

My neighbor put it best when he said that Obummer got that nobel prize because he's black.
Which is kinda racisist for the Liberals to do.........but what do I know? I'm not a comi, hippi, liberal hypocrite...........so I guess what I think doesn't matter.

It's just how things are......Obummer got the nobel prize from Comi Libs for being the first Black President. If you ask me, that's racist in itself. If only a black person can get said award.....racism. Plain and simple.

From what I understand, Obama got the prize for "potential to promote peace" or something similar. And the committee that decides who gets the prize is made up of 5 people.
So I don't think he deserved it. I could understand him getting it if he had actually done something, but he hasn't.
I also think the committee should be composed of a larger amount of people just to keep it more democratic. 5 people can agree too easily, whereas a number of ... say ... 50 cannot. if there were 50 people, agreement wouldnt be reached as easily, and when they did agree, it would be on someone who affected a wide majority of the worlds population. just saying...
