- “Well, you finally made it. Congratulations, you dumbass.”- - “ I’m not a dumbass! Wait … Is that you, Lysan?- - "Yes, yes, it is. Don’t bother standing up, Evander. You’re unconscious, corpsified, and gross. Hence why you are the dumbass, but … (Final Fantasy fanfare) you survived and defeated your enemies. Good for you.”- -“I don’t understand.”- -“At least you admit it, savage. Alright listen up. During your latest trials (and didn’t I tell you that Chaylante would be trouble?), you delved into powers of our bloodline that you cannot completely control yet. I wasn’t expecting to have this conversation with you for another 200 years.” -“Trouble worth having, Lysan.”- -“Whatever. Anyway, the point is you nearly killed yourself using powers that were beyond you. Don’t do it again. Since you didn’t kill yourself, you are just going to have to deal with a week's worth of bed head. Four days if you’re lucky.”- -“Thank you Lysan, for explaining things. I didn’t realize you were close by.”- -“I’m not. I’m in Honduras.”- -“ … what? …” - - (Zelda Item Found Theme) “You’ve unlocked Transcontinental Mental Communication! With your sire at least. You got something out of that whole debacle. Congratulations.”- - “You’ve been playing too many video games, sire … Lysan?” - - “Evander, you are going into the deepest part of the coma now. Don’t worry. Claudia is around and I … keep an eye on … things from …. here. Don’t …. worry…” - Time Warp – Three Days Pass -Claudia brings more humans to the castle. The humans get most of the damage cleared away if not completely repaired.- Evander’s beautiful face looked healthy and smooth as he lay on the bed. Evander’s eyelids twitched then slowly opened. The moon shone in through his bedroom window, the shutters thrown open. His muscles felt so stiff it was hard to sit up. He ran a hand through his hair and winced at the knotty bed head mess. Feeling a tug on his arm, Evander finally noticed the AV line stuck in his flesh. With a little jerk, he removed the needle and placed it neatly on the nearby medical table. Evander piled some pillows up, rested back against them, and thought quietly.

Claudia had been on rounds again, checking the castle and its inhabitants, something she had picked up over the last few days out of boredom. The wise vampiress knew immediately when Evander woke up, feeling his presence return to them. Evander. Good morning, dear, she purred to his mind, her voice dripping honey as usual, Nice of you to join us in the state of the living undead again. She started making her way swiftly through the castle to the main stairs. Yay, finally someone else to deal with Chaylante’s moods swings instead of me. I was this close to letting Saffire sedate her…she thought dryly to herself.

Evander snorted in good humor, ‘I believe it is a good evening, but do get out of my head, Claudia.’ His eyes drifted over to her as she entered his bedroom. He lifted an eyebrow towards the vampiress, “Thank you for looking after things during my absence. Have I missed much? How is Chaylante? Has she recovered any?” He nodded to her as he continued, “And the others? My youngest and our guests? Benedict and Takahashi have been provided for?””

Claudia grinned, “Yes, well, morning to us, right? We creatures of the night?” She walked to his bedside and perched there, "You really should read the lore as of late it is quite…incorrect.” She laughed benignly and then touched his cheek with the back of her hand, “Such a pretty man, Evander.” Her eyebrow quirked, “Too bad I’m so much older than you.” Claudia winked at him, her eyes twinkling with humor, and removed herself from the bed, going to the dresser. She gracefully picked up a stark white pitcher and poured fresh water into a basin, placing the pitcher back on the surface and carrying the bowl and a towel to the vampire. Claudia dipped her head to him and balanced it on his lap, “Not much has gone on, my dear. All your children are fine, all of them. Chay threw quite the hissy fit that first night,” her eyes turned slightly darker and she looked at him knowingly, “whilst retrieving her from the bathtub…”

“Lore? You mean those trashy vampire novels? Why on earth would I want to?” When she touched his cheek, he slid his fingers under hers and brought her knuckles brush his lips. “Older yes but never more beautiful than as you are now,” he said gallantly, thrilled to be playing courtly games again after the recent horrors. But he listened intently as she spoke of Chaylante. “A fit?” he leaned forward inquiringly, “Did you try to take her from the water before she was clean? You know she hates that.”

Her nostrils flared, “Evander, has being in a coma addled your brain? I don’t think screaming like a banshee and clinging to your prone and stiff body had anything to do with her not being clean, Evander!” She turned away from him, took an unnecessary deep breath that rose her shoulders and head, calming herself. “Evander, darling,” honeyed voice returning, stress lines showing on her forehead, she smiled at him. She gently pulled strands of his hair back from the water basin, “That is not for your hair, dear.” Claudia sat back down on his bed, one hand clasping his, “How are you feeling dear? Are you better?” she gently massaged the hand, lowering her voice and eyes, “We have been quite worried, darling.”

Evander’s eyes widened but he sat perfectly still as the vampires slowly built herself into a raging fume. When she calmed herself, Evander let out a silent breath. “I’m sorry to have worried you. And of course that you had to deal with a distraught Chaylante on top of everything else. I truly am in your debt.” His mouth opened as if he was going to continue, but gave her hand a small squeeze. Cupping water in his hand, he washed his face and dried, careful to not get any water on Claudia’s clothing. With Claudia’s help he put aside the basin and towel. “I am feeling better.” He assured her, “I have it on good authority that after being in that coma for a week, I would wake quite healed.”

“Oh, Evander, don’t be ridiculous. A wee–” she rolled her eyes, “it’s only been three days, darling. If it had been nearing a week, I would have already awakened you quite rudely.” She put the basin on the bedside table and then leaned over and fondly kissed his cheek, “Oh darling, think nothing of it, I am just glad you are feeling better, my sweet.” Claudia smiled at him affectionately a mischievous glint forming in her eye, “You aren’t indebted to me, dear, you gave me payment enough with the view I received whilst taking Chay from the bathtub.” The kind vampiress winked at him again, “Though,” she said standing, taking his towel to the door of the bathroom and tossing it in, “I imagine you’re much prettier when not all corpsified, Evander.”

“Only three days? Really?” At her assurance that it really had only been three days, Evander broke out into a proud, one might say, smug smile. ‘If you are watching Lysan, see this! Three days, not four, not seven! Three!’ Glancing aside at Claudia, he was glad to see she had not caught on to why he felt like gloating. He wasn’t quite ready to share the knowledge that his sire had imparted to him. “Well Claudia, does it mean something if you still found me pretty even when I was corpsified and gross?” He frowned a moment as Lysan’s phrase fell trippingly off his tongue. But he did catch Claudia’s return remark. “Trust me, darling. I’ve seen worse.” “Well it’s nice to know I’ll still be pretty when my final time comes.”

claudia joy? haha, no. Nope jilted lover? Nope Claudia mentally rolled her eyes as Evander wallowed around in his vainness. He’s as bad as Chay. “Oh darling, you won’t get a chance to be corpse-like when your final time comes, you will turn to dust, silly man.” She stood to her feet, “Are you parched, Evander? Do you need replenishing? Or…” her gaze drifted to the door, “Or should I get Chaylante?”

“A drink would be good. I think I will be quite weak for some time yet, perhaps. I’m not sure. But getting another drink would do well.” He made as if to get up and winced halfway through the attempt. Settling back he looked at her imploringly, “Would you help me brush out this mane of mine before you get Chaylante. I’d like to be a bit more presentable before she comes.”

“You do realize she’s seen you with bed hair before, right?” Claudia laughingly rolled her eyes and grabbed a brush, “Evander, I am not very good at this. I haven’t brushed many others’s hair…Chay’s a few times but usually only when she’s…indisposed.” More like half-mad…”Leviticus didn’t have long hair, if you remember,” she said, referring to her lover, master of the castle, Edward’s predecessor that had been slain in the Emily Rose Massacre. She climbed up on the bed with the vampire and gently took a few locks of hair in hand, starting at the ends and brushing gently. Claudia muttered under her breath jestingly, “Too weak to brush his own hair, my goodness, what have you become, Evander?” She grinned, knowing he would hear.

Evander smile was bittersweet as he remembered his friend, Leviticus. It took a moment of her brushing to recall him to the present. He gently took the brush from her, gave her hand a squeeze, and smiled at her. “How kind of you dear, but by help I meant grab a comb and join in.” He tugged half of his mane over his shoulder and began brushing. “This mass of hair can be difficult. I’m sure you understand; having long hair yourself.”
