What This Is...

A couple of weeks ago…(really about two months now…-whistles-) I thought it would be a fun idea for all our rpers to write the backstories for their characters. Not only was I curious to find out, it would also give everyone a break from the current rp/plot, give them something to do on their own, and develop their characters some. When I first asked, we were all at a semi-lull in the RP and know at least for the original castle, most of us were kind of burnt out with our characters. Instead of making new characters or just lollygagging around not writing anything until inspiration to hit us, I while talking to Dec and Krus, thought it would be a good idea to have a fresh spin on our current characters. I sent almost everyone a pm with one simple request, “Would you be interested in writing the backstory for your character?” and one question to guide them, “What important events happened in your character’s past that lead up to them entering the castle?” I left it open-ended; the RPer could write as much or as little as they wished, and in any format they wished. I know some people are writing their backstories like a journal or diary entry, some are just writing them as a story, some people’s are very long, some people were able to sum up their background in a few short paragraphs. How you do your history is up to you. You have no restrictions except for the Gaian TOS.

How This Will Work…

in relation to the subforum. Each character will get a thread. Some character’s threads will overlap (for example Chay and Evander’s) and those that overlap will most likely get a second thread baring both their names. In these threads, it will tell of their time when those tow characters lives overlapped. The two handlers of these characters will be able to RP together on that thread. Now, keep in mind, this will all be stuff that happened before the RP happened. For example: If John and Sei knew each other before the RP started and their handlers (Dec and Darky) wanted to write out scenes between the two, they could create a thread about their two characters. However, if it is just ONE chara, say Sebastain’s, for example, and Tactic didn’t want anyone else writing or responding on her Sebastain thread, we would all respect that and not post in her thread. I will leave it up to the handler to decide. This also might be different for each handler’s character. Tactic might not mind people commenting on Sebastain’s page but might not want anyone posting in Matt’s. To remedy this problem, if everyone could use Barton Town’s RP codes, in the titles of their threads, that would be great.

How To Name Your Threads

I know this is going to sound really petty and nit-picky (and it is) but I’m the captain of the guild and ya’ll can give me this one thing. I have a very set way to name the origins threads.

First “rule”, if you will, please put the character’s full name. Don’t just say “Chaylante’s Thread,” or “Saffire’s Thread.” Put “Elliot Valin Cross” or “Crosifista LeClair.” Please also leave out the word “thread.” Now, here’s where it becomes a little tricky…we have several families/clans here in the RP. I, for organizational and aesthetic purposes, want the threads names to show this. We also have different “classes” within the castle. Below is a breakdown of the families.

Here’s how I would like the clans done, a “family format,” if you will:

-Evander’s Line: Chaylante Liseral
-Evander’s Line: Benedict Chambers
-Evander’s Line: Evander & Chay
etc.

Also, for the different “classes” of people, I have a set format for them too. For example…
-The Ancients: Claudia Stockshire
-The Ancients: Saffire Nightlord
-The Ancients: Crosifista LeClair
-The Ancients: Evander “O’Isle” Ovile
etc.
(You will know if your vampire is an ancient. ^_^ Usually the rule is over 800 you are an ancient.)

-The Humans: Kayia Nakia “Crimson” Sanguine - Renfield
-The Humans: John Callahan – Renfield
-The Humans: Matt Callahan
etc.

For all other vampires who are in the castle, just name your thread(s) with your chara’s full name. Example: “Lukas Belmont” or “Lyssette Ellis Ward”.
