So I found out that not many people even remember their dreams. I always remember my dreams, at least right when I wake up. If they are particularly strange or (almost) prophetic, I can remember them for years. I still remember every detail and feeling of a dream I had in 1995/6. The crazy part was that I was in sixth grade, my sister was six, the dream showed my grandmother dead, and six years later... 2001... she died of lung cancer that was detected too late. Also, I lived in house 116; moved to apartment 6 and my grandmother lived in house #69. Anyone else see a pattern?
Anyone else have dreams like this, that stood out and eventually came true?
My mom seems to have the same gift, so it might be inherited on my part. In fact, it was her mother I dreamed of.
Sometimes my dreams also turn out to be really interesting plots for novels.
Lately, however, all my dreams collide into one-another. I realize I'm dreaming, force myself awake and repeat the cycle all night long, or I dream of waking up and going on with my day, realize I'm dreaming, force myself awake, but awake in another dream where I go about my day... It's like one of those "endless day" stories where you repeat the same day over and over. The end result leaves me more tired when I finally "really" wake up.
Anyone else have issues like this? Just curious.

I can empathize with everything you said. I have probably half a dozen dreams that I have remembered for years and years, and I have movie dream syndrome where I'll dream and it'll be very much like the plot of a movie or show, or like you said, novel, and have nothing to do (that I know of) with my life. I also fill frustrating dream cycles.

I always thought it was weird when people said they didn't remember their dreams, like there was something wrong with them or something, because it is so normal for me to remember, very clearly, my own dreams. I guess that's the rub of psychology, you just can't fully understand the mind of someone else @_@

9 out of 10 times I'll remember my dreams...
Though if you want to get technical it's more like 9.9, under the circumstance that I won't remember my dream directly after waking up (Only that I had a dream, and more often than not it was very surreal), but i'll remember tid bits as the day goes on and by the time i'm ready to dream again i've put it all together.

Or something like that...

Most of the time i'm stuck with very bizarre dreams that seem to roll into one another. For instance, if i'm dreaming and wake up due to something extreme happening in the dream - when I fall back asleep the dream will continue but things will be entirely different (Different characters playing the past roles, different settings but same plot, etc, etc...)

I can remember almost all of my dreams, i am one of those few whos' dreams are in colour. Almost all of my dreams come true, except the really wierd ones!!! This has been happening all my life, one that happened a couple of weeks ago. I had a dream I was on this chat room talking to my online coven. About a week later it happened, what we talked about in the dream we where talking and I said i had a dream just like this. Precognition is my most developed ablity, when I try to tell my parents about the dreams that happen they just tell me to shut up.

~:i remember my dreams all the time as well:~
i've also been able to determine which ones are just regular everyday dreams, and which ones are actually visions. most of my dreams are obscure, but the visions always have a haze around the sides and are particularly normal from my regular dreams.

though, there will be signs in my normal dreams of things that will happen. and i always pick out certain animals or objects that symbolize something like, luck or sadness.

My dreams end up becoming memories. In fact, there's been dreams where I'll remember something from a previous dream. Yet, I don't really remember the dream. It all kinda gets garbled.

Certain one do stand out by their very nature. Ones that had spiritual significance. I've had a couple of precognitive dreams that had no importance beyond making a believer of me and reconnecting to my family line.

Has anyone ever had that moment close to waking up where you decide you don't like the progression of the story and go about changing it? Or is it just the quirk of a writer?

I know exactly what you're talking about with the dreaming that you've woken up, and then finding that you really haven't and being more tired. I did that all through school, dreaming that I was up getting ready, even questioning whether I was asleep in the dream and "waking myself up", only to wake up for real later and be like, "WTF?" No one else has ever known what I'm talking about. They just think it's weird.

I've also become more aware of myself dreaming, in the dreams. I don't seem to have any control over the dreams, just occasionally recognize that I'm dreaming. More recently, it has become more frequent, and I was recently freaked out by a dream in which I stopped, remember dreaming that setting before and having something bad happen, told the person I was with, "No, I've dreamed this before," and ran away, and then eventually she convinced me to go back, and we found that it was harmless. Our moms were making food with other moms. -_-

I thought everyone dreamed in color?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 17, 2010 8:57 pm

Yeah, I've been surprised about that too. Apparently not everyone dreams in color. Or sometimes just a set of colors, like blues and greens.

I used to have the "wake up" dream when I was in high school. The dream would consist of me waking up just as the bus was pulling up and I'd frantically try to get dressed. Then I would wake up for real in a panic as I heard the garbage truck leave. I swear those things sound just like a school bus when they brake. I got used to it though and even welcomed it. It was my internal alarm clock that always made sure I got up in time to catch the bus. These days, my cats act as my alarm.

That's lucky, lol. I generally slept past my alarm because of those dreams. I would apparently get up, turn it off, then fall back asleep and dream that I was up getting ready. Really retarded. Ha ha

The rare cases I don't remember my dreams, I at least remember dreaming.
There was one day a year or two ago where I was freaking out, and actually started crying a few times because I didn't dream the might before. I was absolutely distraught.

When dreaming, I am (at least as far as I can tell) always aware I am dreaming. Most of the time I have control over my dreams, but in various amounts.

I've never had an "endless day" dream, but my dreams do tend to go on, and on and on, for weeks or even years. There was one that I had almost every night for at least two or three years. Often I would go back a week's worth of dreams or so and something would change. By the time I stopped having that dream the only thing remaining the same is I somehow miraculously survived a car crash that killed every one else in the car.

I can only think of two times where my dreams have come true, and they are very similar. Once, when I was about five I had a dream where my piano teacher had a baby. A few days later, when I next saw her I told her that. A little over a month later she found out she was pregnant. She asked me what gender the baby was, and I answered girl. A few months later she found out it was going to be a girl. The next time I was seven or eight, and it was that my piano teacher had another baby, it was a boy this time. Again I told her, and this time she immediately asked the sex of the baby. About a month later she found out she was pregnant, and several months after that that it would be a baby boy.
