Victorian
By 1830 petticoats had been slowly resurfacing. By the time a young lady named Victoria sat on the thrown of England they had arisen in full force. Victoria's reign was the longest of any English monarch and during her tenure many fashion changes occurred. During the beginning of her reign hoop skirts were moderately sized, but as the century progressed so did the skirts. They became larger and rounder till they reached their peak in the 1860s, a peak of five yards around! But as all things do, they eventually regressed though not without an appearance from the infamous bustle skirt. We offer a variety selections from this time period.
Please keep the posts in this thread relevant to Victorian fashion.

{ Ah, I must admit, this is one of my favorite time periods for fashion (and everything, really). I'm a big fan of modesty, and what greater era for it? Plus, with the grand dresses for balls and serious femininity, this is by far one of the best eras c:
I would kill to have experienced it }How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?

I couldn't agree more! Back when courtship had a place in society... Le sigh.
But, I do like modern styles, too. I'm a big fan of layering thin fabrics, drapings, opaque leggings, flat boots, etc.
The Victorian Era really does influence a lot of modern fashion, though.
