Renaissance
The Renaissance was a time of great change; the printing press was created, the new world discovered, and the middle class emerged. So it makes sense with all this change that clothing would change as well. Skirts became rounded with the invention of the Spanish farthingale. Waists became tiny with pointed bodices and sleeves ballooned into large bells. Cloth too became rich and ornate. Rich dyes and elaborate embroidery combined with ostentatious jewelry became the rage for both men and women.
