SettingValley of the GuardianLegends surround this place. Stories of old. Tales of mythical creatures running rampant through the trees and the fields. Whispers of powerful beings. What proof is there, that beings of dreams dwell in this valley? No one dares question it. They hear the stories of the Forest Guardian, the Ancient Tree. The Elemental and the Vampires. No mortal can enter the Valley and live to tell the tale. Or so the stories go. Past the Gate of Feigned Hope, into the thick and crowding trees. The road is old and cracking, breaking, then finally is lost. The Forest of Dreams seems to have devoured it, leaving only a bare path through the trees. If followed, it still leads to the Winding River and the old wooden bridge that crosses it. On the other side is a field of tall, whispering grass. The Sunken Ancient dwells in the middle of the Whispering Meadow, stark and eerie in its hole. Further north, following the river, is the Jagged Mountains, home of the Guardian of the Forest. A waterfall drops into a small, clear lake that feeds into the Winding River. Take care, for one may never know what will be found in the Valley of the Guardian. Rules

Ashton stepped lightly in the meadow, grazing in the morning light. He lifted his head, a few blades of tall grass sticking from his lips as he chewed, and looked around. The sun had not yet fully risen, so the Whispering Meadow was still gray and misty. The Sunken Tree was visible from his position, eerie in the fog. In the silence, he could almost hear the ancient tree speaking, trying to recover from sinking into the ground. The unicorn stomped a hoof in the soft earth, snuffling quietly before returning his attention to eating. Then his ears flickered. He was in no hurry to look around. He knew that whatever it was he felt, it wasn't in the area. But he could feel something moving. An unfamiliar presence. Or several. A mass of energy that he couldn't quite place. It was huge and hovering through the valley, in the area surrounding the valley. In the city. Now Ashton lifts his head, chewing thoughtfully as he looked around blankly, just feeling the mixture of energy. Something was happening in the valley.

Cirok crouched at the edge of the lake, forest at his back. He still felt lost, but the different scenery was a nice change of pace. Staring at his reflection, the water rippled the image softly from the waterfall’s disturbance. He smiled slightly, gently touching the surface and watching the temperature around his finger drop, the water turning to shimmering crystals of ice. He flicked the small disk of ice across the surface, sending it spinning slowly across the water. Sighing, he leaned back and stared at the foggy sky, listening to the rushing water.

Lisa rolled her hair around under the waterfall, closing her blue lids and lifting her face to the strong flow, breatheing in the water. She smiled, her blue lips pulling up in a smile of pure enthrallment. There was a drop in temprature. The water was cooler around her tail. She spun her head to see a male, sighing, tossing bits of ice into the water. That sigh.... Larisa slid carefully into the water, barrel rolling to spread out her hair. She slid closer to the boy letting smooth stones caress and massage her stomach. "Is something that matter?" She moved slowly, closing her eyes and opening them, puller herself upwords until she was balanced in a seated position, tilting her head to her right.

Cirok quickly took his gaze from the sky, looking down at what he thought was a myth, had he not been staring at one face to face. He had read of such mythological beings in books and news articles, but never had he seen one. Of course, he was pretty sure people could say the same thing about himself, but that was much less beside the point.
He cleared his throat, awkwardly looking away, sure of himself that he had been staring. Nervously fiddling with his necklace, he softly answered, avoiding eye contact to keep himself from gawking at her.
"No...Unless you consider becoming temporarily lost a problem. Retched forest."
He muttered the last part, shaking his head and glancing over his shoulder at the forest, still misted over by the heavy morning fog. The necklace glowered brightly and he jerked his hand back, rubbing it gently and sending an apology into the air.
"Sorry, I didn't really mean it...Slip of the tongue."

Problem... Lara's wing-like-fins unfolded, and she leaned closer, "My dear, I live for your problems." She watched his showing of solace with an odd fashion, then took her spindly hands, and rubbed her palms together, fast, obtaining friction, then she pulled them appart, held them as close as she could together without letting them touch, one hand vertical, the other horizontal. In the space she left was a ball of light, dulling from bright red to a blushing pink. "The air forgives you." She turned her hands into a craddle, and held the ball twords the man, letting it slide off her fingers and dissapear into the shallow waters. "My name is Larisa. I will pull those villified feelings from your heart, if you'll let me."

Cirok watched her graceful movements, the glow of the orb slowly diminishing as it sunk to the bottom of the small lake. He slowly pulled his feet up to his chest, shifting uncomfortably. He looked at her with a calm expression, twisting his fingers around the chain of his necklace.
"I appreciate it, but I'm not sure who's feelings you're describing. Mine..."
"Or mine."
A much deeper voice resonated, causing the water near Cirok's feet to vibrate and then freeze over. The air shifted, the ghost-like form of a wolf hovering over the boy's shoulder, cautiously gathering whether the person in front of him was a threat before settling his head on Cirok's shoulder. The boy seemed to relax a bit with the wolf's presence, patting him gently on the muzzle and relaxing his arms about his knees.

Larisa's eyes pulsed, lids, pupil and all; only once. A smile spread accross her face, "How lovely! This is a beautiful sight indeed!" She felt hindered, wanting to look more closely at not only the wolf, but the boy as well. "I speak of you both, the you that is connected by strange twists of fate. Tell me your stories, the both of you." She very quietly placed her hands in her lap, and started to pluck single scales out, bits that would not be noticed. Her down-cast gaze returned to shifting between the two, her lips still pulled up at their corners.

The two looked at each other, an odd, animalistic resemblance between the wolf and his guardian. The wolf bowed his head towards the girl, urging him on, and Cirok nervously proceeded first.
"I normally procure artifacts from the far corners of the world, examine them, fix them if needed, then ship them to the world's museums for display. Somehow, I just couldn't let this one go."
He rubbed his fingers gently around the icy blue gem on his necklace, the wolf at his shoulder closing his eyes and growling in contentment.
"Call it what you will...fate, I guess, but I figured trying it on once wasn't going to damage it. But then...it wouldn't come off."
Cirok glanced to the wolf, who had a devilish smirk on his face. Of course, he knew this story by heart, but it still amused him to hear it. His companion placed a paw upon his head and ruffled his hair.
"That would be spiritual energy...You seem to radiate it. Continue."
"Yeah, apparently I'm some sort of guardian and there are nine others of us somewhere. Not sure if they are still breathing, but if they are encapsulated, they should have been preserved. At least, in theory..."
Cirok rubbed his chin, thinking softly to himself and causing his foot to bounce in his anxiousness.

Larisa's eyes lit, her smiled had waned, and returned again. "Oh, How Enthralling!" She clapped her hands, "So, you two are connected, bonded with a fate, and by such a lovely necklace? the stories I think of..." She trailed off in wonder. "How marvolus! And may I ask your names? If its not too rude, that is." She rolled the circomstance around in her mind, "A spiritual energy? Thats a gift, my love. Can you tell me any more about that, or is it self explanitory?"

Ashton had moseyed around the meadow in the morning haze, eating peacefully until he was full of the sweet, tall grass. The unicorn tossed his head up, snorting a soulful goodbye to the sunken Ancient. Then he plod from the meadow, head low but kept careful to not spear anything by accident by the wicked horn sprouting from his forehead. He headed towards the river, ears flicking to and fro. His steps were careful as he neared the rushing waters, the cool liquid splashing to the ankles of his forelegs. He lowered his head, taking a long drink from the river, and listened. He could hear voices upstream, towards the mountain and lake. He lifted his head as he swallowed, turning to look north. Then he hopped into the river, plowing across the current to the other side. He had no use of the bridge further to the south. He was strong enough to keep going when the water reached his chest. Ashton had every intention to just disappear into the forest again, leaving the voices to whoever they belonged to. It had nothing to do with him. Nothing seemed to be amiss. Yet.

Cirok cleared his throat, bowing his head in greeting.
"Where are my manners? I am Cirok. This here is Frenzir."
The wolf looked up, bowing graciously, then nuzzling back against Cirok. Frenzir's deep voice vibrated in his throat, making Cirok's shoulder shake.
"I think I'll answer that one. Spiritual energy is found in all matter, but how strong it is...that's a different story. Most of us, by us I refer to all others of my kind, once sought those of the 'high and radiant' variety to sustain our spirits and help us guard our home away from home. Some radiate differently than others, which is why you don't see my hyperactive cousin hanging around."
His eyes darted over his shoulder, shaking ice from his fur at the thought. Cirok muffled a chuckle at the mention of his electric cousin, looking away as Frenzir eyed him.

Lisa turned her head for a moment, moving her hair from her face to watch a dark, thick unicorn push its way through the water. A strong beast indeed. "A pleasure to meet you, Cirok, Frenzir." She nodded in turn, closing her eyes as she bowed her head. "Spiritual energy.... I've heard of such people, and things. I've heard of them here." Cirok chuckled, and Lara could see Frenzir's nervous tweaking. "Let Water guild you where it may To The leaves of trees in the south. Wind pulls you into heated planes. The flames lick your blistered skin. Ice cools your fingertips; You press them to your peeling lips, Eyes looking to the sky, You beg for times mercy, and start to cry. Electric cords run through your vains, The Sun sinks low, and the moon wanes." Larisa watched the pair evenly.

Cirok tilted his head, narrowing his eyes. He couldn't place it, but he had heard her words before. Frenzir quickly stood erect, the icy fur along his back standing ridgid.
"Where, might I ask, have you heard that?"
Cirok looked between the two, the small flare of energy blazing from his companion as he took a defensive stance to the issue making him a little jumpy. Frenzir's voice was much quieter, but the protective and cautious undertone was present as he glanced to Cirok, uttering a snarled whisper.
"Perhaps they do still live..."

Larisa shyed back at the bristling wolf, but did not look away, "Where? In the spare drops of water that hit this pond. In the rustling trees to the south. Through the tall grasses of the plane, and in the blistering sun. I've heard it in the morning frost, in mourning animals, and from the ever-constant sun and moon that drag themselves along these skies." She pushed her hair back, pausing a moment, "Its around you. You just need to listen." She re-tucked her tail under herself. "It is no secret, that something more lies in plane sight. Its the answer to most riddles. You may seek the itams, though some are small and damaged, but I guess you've already placed that together." Lara turned her face to the city's skyline, "You may go on your wild goose chase, and hunt the bird of your pleasing. I warn you of the gander accompanying the goose. Its much bigger then you might or might not realize."
