WINTER 1 - YEAR 1 - Early Morning

" Are you sure you heard that the train was bringing new residents mum?" Maxwell was fiddling with a pencil as he was sitting down on a bench, writing down a few things here and there in his notepad. It was the beginning of winter, thusly the entire valley was covered a in a soft thick blanket of snow. As much as Maxwell wasn't too keen on the cold, he knew the weather itself would scare away unwanted monsters from the immediate area for a time. A problem, he knew, that wasn't going to fix itself.

Claudia simply smiled, liked she always did. " Don't worry yerself Max! I know this for a fact, at least a few families should be showing. The Parisa's were kind enough to give me a fair warning in advance, too. You know once Ms. Aislinn had decided this place seemed nice enough to stay... They should be arriving sometime soon." She waved a bit loftly at her son, who only grimaced at her.

" Hopefully you didn't lie to her like the last doctor." The young man shook his head, his thick black hair bouncing with his movement. He paused for a moment to dust off the snow that had settled on his shoulders, he was wearing a nice warm jacket over his normal attire.

" Why would you say such a thing? I'm mayor! I'm not supposed to lie." The older woman pouted.

" Oh, of course." He rolled his eyes. " And I'm a cow." The words he spoke simply dripped with sarcasm.

And while the pair waited at the loading dock of the Train station Stop for Mizuumi Valley, Claudia simply smiled and ruffled her son's hair. " Don't say such things or they'll come true. " The Train station was simple really, no fancy buildings like out in the city. Just a simple loading dock and very small building that only had enough room for a ticket booth with a small attached bathroom.

Overhead a little figure soared in a haphazard fashion a gnarled looking old broom, for which the straw bristles seemd to be hanging on to the handle for mercy. There was a trunk strapped to the back of the small cleaning tool and a little witch atride it. A pumpkin colored scarf covered her face and she gripped the handle of the broom she rode with a pair of leather gloved hands. Thankfully it wasn't snowing today. That would have made her flight very difficult. In fact, for a gardener to move int he middle of winter it already was hard enough as is, but her family was already giving her trouble about leaving the nest in the first place.

It wasn't that she didn't love them, it was simply that she did not belong. Her family practiced the things most witches and wizards did. Studying, hunting monsters, and all sorts of destructive and disruptive spellwork that she quite frankly wanted nothing to do with. Discontent with just growing a few herbs in a little windowsill box, only to have her older brother kill them every so often, she had made the final and big decision to move out to Mizuumi Valley and invest in a little farm out there. Her parents gave her a week away from home, she was determined to prove them wrong.

Below amidst the blanket of white, she spotted what she saw to be a train putting it's way along the tracks towards a station. This was likely her stop. Turning her ewigth tot he side she smiled and rode alonside the locomotive, smiling and waving to some ofthe patrons inside. It was nice to get to know people, especially people that weren't all destructive shut ins like her folks.

Looking ahead she saw a pair of people on the loading dock and smiled. Not sure of who they were, but it was ince to see people out there too. She began to slow down as she made it to the loading dock and came to a stop with a nice landing, slinging the broom over her shoulder. It was possible that one of them was the mayor. She had heard this town had a very strong charactered mayor, but who was who? She supposed it would be the older one, well that was the common idea, right?

"Excuse me, is one of you the mayor? I sent my request for a famr here some weeks ago," she had a very tiny voice that practically jingled when she spoke, taking only a moment to fix her had and pull down her scarf, revealing big brown eyes and freckles on rosy cheeks. "I'm Taylor Sparkleberry, it's very nice to meet you."

Inside the train, two slumbering toddlers were nestled closely to their mother. The young elf had both arms wrapped around her two tiny daughters, turning her head to look out the large window. Her crystal blue eyes glanced over the scenery, the thick blanket of snow that had fallen overnight had covered much of their surroundings. As it was early in the morning and much of the train was silent, excluding the small amount of murmuring from a few riders just a few seats back. Aislinn took this as a small moment of relaxation, the train ride had been less than pleasurable for the two 4 year olds.

The young elven woman was dressed for the season, thick grey tights with a long white dress and dark brown boots. Her light blue jacket was strung across her lap being used like a pillow for her children.

Across from the trio was Alastar, who was dressed in comfortable light brown work pants and a untucked white and blue button up shirt, a scarf hung loosely around his neck, and he wore dark brown work boots. It was something he wasn't used to wearing, at least the button up shirt, but being on a train had a little bit of a dress code and their arrival was supposed to help them make a first impression with the town Mayor. Big deal.

Thankfully, he was able to keep himself entertained by sketching the scene before him. Luckily his younger sister had not noticed his actions, but she did take note that their stop was just ahead as they passed a large sign that read " Mizuumi Valley Train Station - 2 Miles"

"We're almost there." Aislinn whispered offhandedly as she shifted Eileen's weight, who was slowly moving onto her lap. The other tiny girl shifted, Caitlin soon woke up rubbing her eyes. Looking up at her mother she yawned a bit as she then quickly shielded her eyes from the morning sun.

The two little girls were dressed differently, hoping it would be easier to tell the two apart. Eileen was dressed in a pale green jumper with a cream colored tunic underneath, brown boots, and her infamous cotton knit cap. Caitlin was in dark grey tights, a soft pink long sleeved dress, and brown boots.

" Mama, I'm hungry... Are we home yet?" Caitlin spoke, soon waking her sister with the sudden speaking.

Home. That was something Aislinn wasn't expecting out her child's mouth, home was something at this time was up in the air for her. While her thoughts raced for a moment, her other daughter spoke breaking her train of thought. " Hmm?"

"Hmmm, me too Mama. I'm hungry." Yawned the other as she rolled over onto her back and sprawled over onto her mother's lap.

Alastar couldn't help but chuckle at the sight before him, " Now, now ladies. Yer momma has alot of things going on right now. As soon as the train stops we'll be at our new home, kay?"

"Kay" Chimed both tiny children, as they slowly started to move around and Eileen made it a point to stand on their chair to peer over the other side to start singing good morning to any other sleeping passenger. Luckily, it was only a ten minutes later that the train had finally arrived at it's next stop.

As only a few train attendants had come out to help unload the luggage that had belong to any person that was on the train whose stop was designated to Mizuumi Valley, the young mother chased her tiny daughters trying to get them dressed for the weather outside. Alastar was unfortunately left to carry the rest of the luggage that was inside the cabin they were in. " 'Ey, 'ey! Listern to yer mother." Alastar called out to Eileen, who narrowly shot between his legs and jumped outside to only jump right back in.

Finally with both small children dressed, Aislinn helped her brother with their luggage. The two small twins staring up at the sky watching the witch fly on her broom stick, both girls admired the clothes she wore and the abilities she seemed to have. " Mama! Mama it's a pretty lady! She's riding on a broom." Call out Caitlinn as she pointed upwards, jumping to emphasize. Both little girls ooed and awed at the sight, waving at the pumpkin witch. Luckily their mother had a firm grip on their shoulders to keep them both from bombarding the poor woman.

Alastar laughed a bit as he settled some of the luggage on the ground by his feet, nodding to the mayor , her son, and then towards Taylor. " Yeah, I was jus' about tah ask the same thing." He extended a hand out towards Maxwell, if he took it he would have been given a firm hand shake. " I'm Alastar, pleasure to make yer aqauintance, the three of ya."

" I'm Aislinn and these are my girls Caitlin and Eileen." The elven woman smiled down at her daughters, who were still transfixed onto Taylor. "We sent you a letter in response to your questions you had a few days ago.. did you get it?" Aislinn asked, unsure of who was going to respond. The one she had been speaking with for the most park was Maxwell, she wasn't exactly sure who the woman was.

User ImageIn the back of the train sat a boy. He may have been old enough ot fend for himself, but no one could really tell. He didn't look at any that walked by, attempted to talk to him, or anything else. He wore the same clothes he always wore, and let his hair fall over his bright blue eyes.

He stood up when the train stopped, shoving his hands in his pockets and slowly walked outside after the family. The cold winter breeze would have frozen most without jackets, but he didn't seem to mind at all. He hung back when the otheres introduced themselves to the three others standing there.

A girl with golden blond hair steped out of the train after the boy, but she walked past him, waiting shyly behind the others to greet the mayor and the others. She pulled her navy blue coverup tighter around her black dress, and played absently with her red scarf.

It wasn't too long before a tall, slender, slouching figure could be seen a little way away from the group. He looked rather worn, but he still wore a rather disconcerting grin, almost as if he'd just found something he had been searching for for a very long time. And, indeed, he had.

As he neared the small group, he couldn't help but chuckle. It was rather strange, but he didn't really care. Strange was his... thing. It was simply something that came naturally, and often fed his imagination. However, he wasn't too keen on large groups, so he simply walked past the group, sitting off in the distance a little way away. That always made him feel more comfortable.

He looked down at his lap once he sat, and sighed, seeing the only thing he had carried with him since he left his house: a small, leather-bound book. His journal. As he opened it, he saw the reason he had left his house: the stories. He wanted to be a writer, and it was nearly impossible for a full-time farmhand to do anything but farm-work. And so, when someone mentioned a "ghost town" in a "secluded valley", he jumped at the possibility. And so, he found himself, sitting in the cold, watching a group of people meet each other. To many, this act would seem strange, or would make them feel left out. In truth, it was neither to Liam. He simply watched. He didn't have any interest in joining in. So it had been forever, so it would be.

The young witch blinked several times as the pair of girls approached. She felt a tiny bit singled out as it was very rare for people to run towards witches and wizards rather than away from them. However, it was a good bit of attention as she crouched down before the pair of girls, "Well hello!" she offered a warming smiled as she moved her scarf just enough for her freckled face to be revealed and her to speak without her speech being muffled. "Are you two moving into Mizuumi Valley as well? I'm Taylor," she said with a smile. She pat each of their heads before nodding to Aislinn and reaching out a leathered glove to shake hands. "It's a pleasure to meet all of you. The train ride must have been long, your girls look very tired," she said with a slight pout. "I believe I still have some fruits and vegetables left over from the Harvest festival back home if they are hungry," she offered.

She let go of her broom, allowing it to just float there as she opened the trunk and reached in, "Well, not what I was hoping for, but I hope they will do." She was holding what appeared to be a very large apple, a good sized bunch of grapes and a pair of breadfruit. "Be careful, if I remeber correctly these are from a harvest festival game we used to play back home meaning they may taste a little...different." She giggled and handed to apple to the nearest girl and one of the breadfruit to another. "This should at least serve as a useful snack until you're all settled in," she said as she closed up her trunk.

" That would be me! " Claudia smiled brightly at them, her cape billowing gently in the wind as she crossed the distance between the witch and then the small family. Moving her hand towards Alastar to give him a firm shake, then nodded her head towards Aislinn, and then moved over to place an arm around Taylor shortly after she gave the two young girls their fruit. " I am Mayor of Mizuumi Valley, Claudia Lionheart at your service."

She grinned at Taylor and then to Aislinn. " Ah, Miss Sparkleberry! We got you all set up, even cleared out as much as we could for the time being. Though you're going to have a large boulder problem for a while, or at least until you build some muscle in those skinny little arms. " She chortled a bit, patting the witch on the back.

Maxwell blinked, shaking Alastar's hand after his mother nearly bull rushed him out of the way. " Yes, we did. There was complications with your requests, unfortunately the plot of land you requested in the farmlands is inaccessible at the moment Miss Parisa, though thankfully due to our new carpenter's enthusiasm we've been able to restore the inn to a state where it is suitable for habitation." He began to scribble down a few notes on his note pad. " Due to the lack of housing we have at the moment the Inn will be used as shelter for the time being, it will be free to use with a few amount of restrictions to make sure everyone can enjoy their time here. The clinic has been remodeled and has been signed in your name, you'll be able to use it as soon as you can get settled in the inn."

It was then after the fact, the mayor had noticed three newcomers she was not expecting. " Hello there! Welcome to Mizuumi Valley!"

Chizuko seemed jumpy, her long blonde hair was tangled in one of her bracelets. She sighed, walking directly around the crowd whilst fiddling with her hair, once she reached a bench she'd managed to free herself from the mess she'd gotten into.

The young witch was wearing a black hat, bent at the top where she'd previously broken it in the past, she had a black gothic corset dress, six different charm bracelets on each arm, she also had a black necklace with a cross on it around her neck. Her wand was totally black, it had a skull on the end denoting that she could kill if she wanted. But she didn't. The last thing she wanted was to be labelled a serial killer and have to run away as a fugitive.

Liam sighed, watching the newcomers speaking to who was, presumably, the mayor of the Valley. "Great..." he thought, continuing to write. It was all very intriguing to him, seeing everyone interacting nervously. Much different from the interactions he had had at the farm... He shuddered at the memory of the arm and rolled his eyes. "Never again" he swore to himself. Never again.

Taylor squeaked as the weight of the Mayor's large arm came down on her tiny frame. Her wide brown eyes looked up at the tall woman and then to her arm. She attempted to flex one, but it was a rather poor attempt as indeed her arms were skinny. "Well, that's nothign good farm living won't fix, and with it being winter and all, I can't grow vegetables or fruits, so it gives me all the time I need to fix things up," she said with a smile, tipping her hat back.

"You don't have to be so formal, Mayor. You can just call me Taylor. I'm not the Witch Princess or anythign afterall," she giggled a bit. Actually she would be an abomination in the eyes of the Witch Princess. Afterall sjhe prefered crops good and dead and the villages cursed, poisoned and plagued. Meanwhile, Taylor explored the bounty of fruits and vegetables and looked up to the Harvest Lord and Harvest Goddess. It was the life of being a black sheep witch.

She scooped up her broom and looked about the station. It seemed a great deal of people had shown up to move into the valley. "It seems like you have a great deal of people moving in to town, mayor. I guess that's a good thing. It will certainly keep me busy on my farm, making sure there are plenty of fruits and vegetables to go around," she giggled.

" Thank you missus pretty witch.." The girls spoke in unison, taking the fruit with a smile.

Eileen without hesitation to large bite into the fruit, blinking she swallowed and looked up at her mother. " Momma! Momma!" With a single free hand she tugged at Aislinn's skirt tails. " It tastes funny." Despite the remark, the child took a second bite.

"Eileen, don't say that... " Aislinn furrowed her brow as she sighed, the other quieter twin simple ate her fruit without much complaint, even though the breadfruit tasted like strawberries.

" Thank you though, Miss. You are a lifesaver." Aislinn looked relieved, by the time they had arrived at the valley the four had just ran out of food.

So, the twins ate happily in silence. Watching the people around them with keen interest, but soon migrating back to their mother's side like little shadows.

Aislinn blinked as she turned her head to look at Maxwell, nodding at his instructions and updates. " What happened? How did it become inaccessible?"

"Yeah, I thought you said it'd be ok." Alastar looked a bit concerned, they had been planning to make a smaller version on their family home. A home away from home, but it seems that plan had been placed to a sudden halt.

" Well, it must be for good reason. We can stay at the inn until it's been handled, at least the clinic is completed and the farm is still ours so the money is not wasted." Aislinn looked down at her daughters, who were still nibbling happily on the

" I know, I figured. I was just worried... Yanno, mysterious letters dictating you to come and rescue mystical places ain't all the norm, sis." The taller man laughed a bit, adjusting the weight of their things in his hands.

Taylor smiled tot he girls, "Patting their heads, "I'm sorry huns. I only had some magic fruit left from the harvest festival. So it's very possible those grapes migth taste like bananas," she warned before offering some fruit to Aislinn and her brother, "If you don't mind the risk of funnny tasting fruit, you're more than welcome to some. I imagine the trip was long with little ones," she said with a smile. She then tilted up her hat and looked about at everyone piling into the train staion and smiled, It seemed promsing at first glance. She was happy too. She was a tad worried that with such a suspicious letter coming into her possession she might be mistaken to leave home, even if she and her parents did not get along.

" Well, formalities are the best form of hospitality. It proves to me and you I respect you. " Claudia smiled at Taylor, it seemed she wasn't going to budge just yet on the 'Miss' thing. She waved a single finger at the witch for a moment while looking to the other two newcomers. " Well, you didn't have to write a letter really. Miss Parisa and Miss Sparkleberry felt more comfortable giving us a heads up... especially since they made a few complicated requests. Miss Parisa here is going to be the town doctor and while Miss Sparkleberry and Mr. Parisa are going to be some of the farmers in town as well. Those are very important jobs and well need a bit of preparation... like our late rancher." She peered down at her pocket watch, it seemed Mr. Akihiro was very late. "Regardless, welcome to Mizuumi Valley." She held out both hands towards each young person, so she could shake their hands.

" So, please Miss Lynn and Mr...?" She tilted her head towards the other young man that was next to the very nice look blonde girl. " Try to do your best at whatever you chose to do here in the Valley!" She grinned widely, loud and happy. "There are plenty of jobs available... Currently I'm hoping some individuals will take up some jobs we have at town hall or in the library."

Maxwell blinked and waited, there were alot of people coming off the train. This was a good and bad thing, hopefully they listened to him and his small announcement of the Inn being free. Then again, the four of them could all be idiots. Turning his head towards Aislinn and Alastar he sighed a bit. " It seemed during a rather nasty blizzard that had brought the snow you see here... " He extended his hand out to the scenery. " A very large and very old tree decided your house was a nice place to fall down on. So until Luke gets some help, you will be living at the inn for the time being. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience. You did pay in advance for the property and upgrading the house... Your money is not wasted though, we will handle the damages."

Ichiro Akihiro

Ichiro sighed softly as he finally left the forest behind. That had been scary... The letter hadn't mentioned anything about monsters! Still he had somehow made it through and was soon pulling into the town itself. He smiled as he looked upon the train station, spotting a group of people upon the loading dock.

"Looks like we made it, Uchuu-kun." He murmured contently, reaching over to pet the black goat laying down on the seat next to him. Pulling over onto the side of the road he opened the door, the goat sitting up curiously.

"Hey! Do any of you know where the Mayor is?!" He called from half leaning out of the blue pick-up truck with flaming decal.

The young man had bright crimson hair, and a bright smile. Chocolate eyes looked upon the group of people warmly as he waited for a reply. He wore a long sleeved black jacket with a blue line across the chest, under that a white long sleeved shirt. Around his neck was a warm white scarf he was grateful for his mother insisting he should take. Thick black sweat pants covered his lower half, leading down to a set of black leather work boots. his hands where protected from the cold by a set of snug black leather gloves, a pair of stainless steel hoops piercing each earlobe and a black eye patch draped over his right eye, held there by a thick band rather then a thin string or elastic.

Behind him the goat stood himself up, trying to peek over his master's shoulder to see what was happening outside.
