Long ago in the world of Terra there was a magnificent castle known as Serifim. Constructed by the ancient race, whom existed before the time of the elves, this castle was unlike anything ever seen or has ever been seen since. Spanning many miles it rivals even the capital cities of the present in shear size. It's adimantine walls were never breached by any of the armies that stood before it over the years and in doing so allowed the ancient peoples to pursue great feats of magic, art, and crafts. The peoples were not condemned to stay forever within the walls however, and being the keen observers they were the ancient race amassed a great library of lore and history from every corner of the world documenting events and peoples long forgotten. The people of Serifim made great advancements in herbology and the care of crops through both natural and magical means. They also mastered the techniques of caring for creatures of every variety. Serifim was truly a place of wonder.

Despite Serifim's formidable walls and masterful warriors the castle-city has been lost to the pages of time. For centuries all that remained of this city were myths and legends about its splendor and even after many lives have been spent searching for the city none have ever found it, but now that all may change. Artifacts from the lost city have begun to surface, each one part of a series of clues that will lead whom ever collects them to the location of the city. Each adventurer hunts for the city for their own reasons, what will yours be?

Gaian Name: Si_Valael
Name: Ka'Ther Hitsugaya
Race: Half-Elf
Age: 36 (22)
Gender: Male
Appearance:
User Image
Rank: Lord of the Wyvern Samurai Clan. (Recently inherited from deceased father.)
Bio: Bio: Ka’Ther was born out of a marriage of convenience between one of the younger Elvin princesses of Kel’Thanos and the Lord of the Wyvern Samurai clan, Takeda Hitsugaya. Due to the marriage’s political nature and the knowledge that the princess would certainly outlive her husband, the two only lived together long enough to bring Ka’Ther into the world. Once the child was weaned, Takeda’s wife returned to her kingdom leaving him to raise the child on his own. Her only memento to him being his name.
The child was raised as any other son in the village, trained in the arts of war and the code of the samurai. He was rarely if ever told about his mother and the culture of the elves despite half the blood running through his veins being of their kin. Instead the lore keepers of the village relayed the myths of old, and once they saw the child’s fascination with the lost city they indulged his curiosity in order to distract him from the ways of the elves. During his training Ka’Ther exhibited a great deal of humility and compassion towards both peers and servants, however, it soon became clear that his greatest asset was his determination, a trait that was believed to have been inherited from his father. After his assenting to manhood at seventeen, Ka’Ther began to hone his iron will and his skills in the fires of battle as his village was almost constantly called on by their Elvin allies to help defend them against the threat of the Vagrush Ogres to the east. For more than a decade Ka’Ther proved himself time and time again, though his youthful enthusiasim was soon all but washed away by the lives being lost around him. This left Ka’Ther more somber and serious than most, though his fascination with Serifim never diminished.
Soon after his thirty second birthday his village was assailed by a sudden attack by their Ogre foes. The Vagrush brought down the full furry of their army upon the Samurai in an attempt to wipe them out and diminish the defenses of Kel’Thanos. The Elvin forces, being too defensive and rooted into their positions could not respond fast enough to aid the village and soon the army’s lines began to break. Realizing the village was doomed Takeda ordered his son to take as many villagers as he could and flee while his father took what reinforcements there were to hold the ogres off. Realizing he would die Takeda past on his lordship to Ka’Ther, the act being signified only by the Wyvern’s claw being passed on to Ka’Ther.
Furious with the lack of aid given by the Kel’Thanos, a rage that was fueled all the more for the feeling of abandonment by his mother, Ka’Ther turned his back on the elves. Instead he lead his people away from the warring lands, establishing a small settlement near the coast. It was then that Ka’Ther first heard of the growing roomers of the Artifacts. Knowing that the sword he now carried was said to be a gift from the ancient race to the first Samurai, Ka’Ther took this as a sign and began his search. He forges forever onward in order to find the castle that will offer his people eternal protection. He will work with anyone that will help further his goals, and will tear down anyone that stands in his way.

Familiars: Kenpachi (an Akita, three years old, trained to be combat capable)

Artifacts found: His Katana, glows when another artifact is close. Small book filled with ancient runes, enhances the power of an artifact.
Current Traveling Companions: None.

Gaian Name: Anila Of Pellinor
Name: Meiri Narcissa Andras
Race: She thinks she's human, but that's an illusion that will soon be shattered.
Age: A youthful nineteen.
Gender: Female
Appearance:
User Image
Rank: Daughter of a court wizard and minor noble lady
Bio: Meiri- or Mei, as her mother calls her- grew up in a castle, but it wasn't precisely a charmed existence. As her parents weren't wealthy or of the old-blood families, they didn't live in posh splendor, though they were surrounded by it. Her father, as wizard, had a tower for himself and his family, but it was small and rather out of the way, and magic could only do so much to warm the chilly stones in winter. As a result, Mei found herself often running through the halls of the palace, seeking another blanket or a tray of food...and after a time, just because she was curious, she'd go for a jog and poke her head into abandoned rooms and those that were simply empty. In fact, she was quite the little snoop, and if anyone had asked her she would have given them the best gossip to be had in the palace.
But no one did. Even if her father had confirmed that she had no magic whatsoever, to the other young people she was 'the witchy child', and therefore to be avoided. So she grew up lonely, curious, and with an uncomfortable feeling of inadequacy hanging over her head. Even children avoided her; add to that the fact that her father could barely look at her for shame and her mother was always courtier-distant with everyone and she hadn't exactly lived an idyll. So when she heard of the artifacts of Serafim appearing, it was a double blessing; a chance to escape her uncomfortable family, and an opportunity to prove her worth.
Finally.
In a flurry of decision, she packed a little bag, 'borrowed' her father's cutlass and horse, and snuck out in the dark of night.
What Mei doesn't know is that she's not actually her father's daughter. Suffice it to say that Lady Andras had an encounter in the woods with a handsome young man, and he is Mei's true parent. And what no one knows, not even Lady Andras, is that that young man was older than he looked...and more than he seemed.
Shreyvan Storm-Bringer was one of the last of the demigods to walk the human world, and story has it that he did so only for the women. His good looks could charm any mortal heart, male or female, but he seemed to believe that he should leave as many halfbreed children behind before joining the rest of the gods in distant realms. And each of these children had special powers, though their abilities remained latent for a long time...

Weapons: She stole her father's cutlass on her way out of the palace, but she's not much good with it.
Equipment: The girl cannot pack. All she has is one change of clothes and a pouch of coins. Gold coins. Trouble is 'a brewing.
Magical Abilities: Pretty much nothing. Her father tested her over and over, but all she seems to do is predict the weather. (There's more- beyond the poor man's level, though. He couldn't even touch it.)
Familiars: Sometimes she looks up in the sky and sees a white bird. Does that count? It seems to be following her.

Artifacts found: Well, there was that little bronze coin she picked up a few days back from the dust of the road. For some reason, she can't spend it- it just appears again back in her purse.
Current Traveling Companions: None

Gaian Name: IamSTRANGE
Name: Sila Mar'Ketch
Race: Mostly human.
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Appearance: Sila is average height, with an atheletic build. On a good day she has lightly tanned skin, bright blue eyes and light brown hair that she keeps in a braid. When she is angered though her skin turns a light grey, her eyes glow red, and her hair turns black.
Rank: None
Bio: Sila was born to a middle class woman in a nicely sized town just on the outskirts of a large city. When she was born no one could say any thing bad about the beautiful little girl, until one day she didn't get exactly what she wanted. Her mother had handed her the wrong toy, and Sila did not like that. She started screaming so loud even people in the city heard her, her pale skin turned a dark grey, and her light blue eyes glowed red. Terrified the young mother did all she could to calm the angry infant, and finally managed to get the child to calm down and from that day forward did whatever she could to keep Sila happy to avoid seeing that side of her daughter again.
At the age of 12 Sila was watching some of the young males that were learning swordsmanship in the square, and wanted to join them. She was informed that swordsplay was only for men, and that she should run back to the kitchen where she belonged. The only warning the young males had of their doom was the change of Sila's eye colour. She doesn't remember what happened, but she does remember coming to in the center of the square, all of the guys who had been mocking her were laying unconscious in a circle around her, their practice swords either laying in splinters or embedded in the brick walls of the nearest homes. Embarassed she walked quickly home, but returned the next day. This time when she asked to join them, the males agreed, hesitantly, and she quickly learned how to become a great swordsman. She learned the art of using two swords, and within a few short years became a swordsmaster.
Saddened by the fact that she couldn't become any more proficient in the blades she moved on to other weapons, taking lessons in the city, but none of the interested her like the swords did. By her 19th birthday Sila knew how to use almost any weapon well, but prefered using her dual swords.
Over the years Sila learned how to control her anger, but was still subject to blacking out when she got too angry, and when she came to, those who had hurt her found themselves either dead, or wishing they were.
On her 20th birthday Sila was celebrating with her friends, when some of the males from her first weapons class crashed the party. They made rude jokes about how females only belonged in the kitchen, and bedroom, and rudely hitting on her girlfriends. She doesn't remember what happened after that, but when she came to this time, she was covered in blood and everyone was dead, except for her closest friend, who was slowly bleeding to death in the corner of the room. Sila asked her what happened, but the girl was too frightened to speak. Terrified of what happened Sila took her swords, packed some food, and rode off into the surrounding woods, trying to run away from her past.
Like any child living in this age, she had heard the rumors of Serafim, and wanted to find it, to see if they could cure her of her anger.
Weapons: Carries two scimitars, but can use any weapon she finds.
Equipment: A pack for food, and a water skin.
Magical Abilities: Shadow magic.
Familiars: A magical panther called Gwhenyver, and horse Dinin

Artifacts found: A small sculpture of a panther, out of which comes Gwhenyver when Sila summons him. An amulet that appears to have the ability to repel unwanted compainions, but she has yet to learn how to use it. A ring that casts lightning spells.
Current Traveling Companions: None.

Gaian Name: stainthedane
Name: Milla Myxaitis
Race: Centaur
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Appearance:
User Image

Rank: Wealthy Musician
Bio: Milla was one of the most beautiful mares of her age in the herd. Many tried to woo her, without any luck; she was stubborn, and very intent on her studies. Showing talent in music, her parents supported her interests and ensured she had the best education available. Her mother gave her a flute, passed down from her grandmother. It was no use to the mother, who had absolutely no musical ability what so ever, but Milla was obviously very different. She learned her instrument faster than anyone else in the class, and was able to accomplish anything her teacher threw at her. She was often told she could "break hearts with her music". Not realizing the true effect she had on people, she gained social status under the belief she was simply a very talented musician.
She proceeded to join a group of performing musicains, and fell in love with an outstanding soloist. They performed in many cities, travelling the world together in total bliss. She had even become pregnant! And in a couple months would leave the tour with him to raise their new family. One day during a performance, the city they were in was raided, and two attackers tried to capture Milla for their own guilty pleasures. Her lover, Ozmaend, was quick to defend her, but suffered an arrow to the heart. Watching the light leave his eyes, she fell into a terrible screaming rage.
To her great surprise, the screams possessed the magical powers of music and filled her intruders with an internal pain so great that they collapsed to the floor, curling in the fetal position while moaning and crying. That moment Milla truly understood her power, and used it against them to create the worse feelings imaginable.
The stress from the events caused her to miscarry, and Milla fell into depression. She went back to her parents and stayed with them while she recovered. Most of her time was spent in the woods, playing her sad songs on her flute, and talking to birds.
Her mom finally approached her one day to comfort her. Her eyes fell on the flute, and she took it into her own hands and smiled.
"I never appreciated this old thing... Never thought I'd find a use for it, seeing as how it's completely useless to me." Smiling, she faced Milla. "There was a story behind this flute that my mom use to tell me..."
And so Milla learned about the castle, filled with wonders and accomplishments from centuries past. She decided right there that she would find it, and somewhere within it's walls, she would be able to feel whole again. Her main interest was the knowledge she would discover in their grand library, but deep down, she knew there was something else in that castle she'd discover for herself.
Weapons: An ornamented silver blade
Equipment: Her Flute, money, and the decorated clothing she wears.
Magical Abilities: She has a power with music. Both her voice and flute can influence extremely powerful emotions within beings, which she can control using her musical selection.
Familiars: Her music tends to attract a wide variety of birds, who have kept her company in these lonely times. More specifically, a Barn Owl, who's presence seems to constantly remind her of mournful loss.

Artifacts found: A Flute. When played, it attracts birds who she can communicate with.
Current Traveling Companions: Inka, Marcus.

Gaian Name: raven_6k
Name: Marcus Strife
Race: Human
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearance: Standing more than half a foot under average height, Marcus looks every bit the penniless orphan he is. The faded blue tunic he wears is tattered and thread bare, just like his dark brown pants. Most on lookers would wonder how the cloths haven't fallen appart at first glance but they would soon be distracted by his other features. First he wears no shoes nor does he wear any pack or bag the likes of which most other travelers seem to depend on. Next he has unkept red hair extending down just past his eyes on all sides showing no signs of it ever been tamed. The last feature that, the one that is the last to be noticed but the most suprising, Marcus's eyes are almost always covered by a soft and ever clean strip of cloth. The red strip of fabric runs around under his hair to be tied behind his head. If one were to ever see him without the blindfold they would only see white eyes, their glazed surface completely devoid of colour.
Rank: Orphan/wanderer
Bio: Marcus has been blind orphan since the first time he can remember. No one could tell him if he lost his sight while he was a child as he has also been an orphan since he can remember. All he's ever had are the few cloths he's owned over the years and the blind fold he found when he was young. However, Marcus has never been depressed or even sad about his lot in life. Even when he is forced to scrounge for food to fill his hungry stoic he always believes he is on a mission to find a place he belongs. And so he moves from village to village, kingdom to kingdom, always following the powerful pull he senses.
Despite his lack of history, he has always powerful psychic abilities, and a natural talent for developing them. In truth he has only learned to control a small portion of his full potential, its true depths still unknown to him.
Weapons: None.
Equipment: None.
Magical Abilities: Psychic abilities, namely telepathic, telekinetic and various sensory abilities. Most importantly to him is the ability to feel his surroundings, allowing him to operate without the use of his eyes.
Familiars: None.

Artifacts found: A long, seemingly silk piece of fabric he uses as his blind fold. Is decorated with a few ancient runes across the center. Allows him to "see" magic.
Current Traveling Companions: Inka, Mila.

Gaian Name: True_Pixie
Name: Inka
Race: Pixie
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Inka
Rank: Forest Replenisher
Bio: Inka was raised like any other pixie; she was taught how to speak to the trees and the forest, and how to call upon the ancient magic and help things grow. Like many Pixies, she was mischievous… and loved to find travelers and lead them in the wrong directions, or take certain items from their campsites. Especially shiny objects! She loved them!
One day, a camper she had followed left a silver necklace lying on a stool outside their tent. She couldn’t resist taking it, and wears it to this day. The necklace fascinates her. It has a dark bead trapped in a leaf of silver, and when you look deeply into it, it looks like there is a tiny galaxy within. It was rather sentimental to the little Pixie, who was touched that there could be worlds within worlds…and perhaps she wasn’t so tiny after all.
The owner was furious when they discovered it was missing. The two of them teared everything apart looking for it while the owner explained the significance of the necklace to his friend. Inka held the necklace in her hands, looking at it with a whole new perspective. She must find the ancient castle they spoke of, and see what other magics were held there.
Weapons: None
Equipment: None (she lives off the forest)
Magical Abilities: Illusion, transformation (butterfly), light, and growth.
Familiars: Other butterflies.

Artifacts found: Silver necklace with galaxy bead. She can feel it’s magical, but doesn’t know what it can do.
Current Traveling Companions: Marcus, Milla
Other: People don’t see Inka as a Pixie unless she wants them to (yes, she's naked when she's in pixie-form. Usually she's transformed into a pink butterfly, but is sometimes known to appear as a ball of light floating in the air.

Gaian Name: Anila Of Pellinor
Name: Arlyn Vanada
Race: Half human, half demigod
Age: Has lived 108 years, but aged proportionate to a human in their mid-twenties.
Gender: Male. Very male.
Appearance:
User Image
Rank: Mage-Admiral of the Royal Fleet of Lukshina, now retired.
Bio: Arlyn is a child of Shreyvan Storm-Bringer who discovered his powers early. He was born in a small village on an uncertain border, one that neither country really claimed or protected; for that reason, his people were subjected to frequent bandit raids. Little Arlyn was ten when his mother sent him out to gather in their small flock of sheep; when he came back his home was burning and he could hear her screams inside. Distraught, he began to cry and shriek at the sky, willing the flames to stop in any way possible. And they did- for black clouds gathered overhead and rain poured down, leaving his home mostly unstable but still standing, and probably saving his mother's life. She was horribly scarred but able to function, and that was what mattered. From that day on he practiced his powers, and by the time his mother told him of his true heritage he no longer needed extreme emotional stress to trigger them. By that time it was obvious that he had inherited his father's otherworldly good looks as well as his powers, and she knew that without proper understanding of who and what he was her son would be in for trouble. Well, he was in for trouble anyways, but in the end he sought it out and chose to meet it.
Restless as the wind, Arlyn left home at age nineteen and wandered for many years. He sought out challenges and situations in which to test, then prove, his strength; and in time through these exploits his reputation grew. For many years, this youthful-seeming man was the foremost commander of the Lukshinan Fleet, one of the strongest armadas on the seas, but when word reached his ears that the artifacts of Serifim were resurfacing he left the Fleet without a second thought, causing much consternation in the court of Lukshina. Arlyn doesn't care; he hopes that the fabled city will hold the key to finding his father, of whom he is naturally very curious.
Weapons: A falchion, its pommel set with a milky moonstone.
Equipment: A small compass, very finely made, with his initials engraved on the back. Also a brass spyglass.
Magical Abilities: Control over weather, very powerful, honed over the years.
Familiars: None, though on the seas unusual numbers of dolphins ride the bow waves of his ship.

Artifacts found: He wears a ring of some kind of silvery material, inlaid with coppery wire. When he holds it to his eye, it improves his distance vision and can sometimes even grant views of places well out of sight, or of what Arlyn suspects is the future.
Current Traveling Companions: None

Lord Hitsugaya sat by the fire in the large in, his right index finger slowly tracing its way around the half finished mug in on the table in front of him. His eyes were transfixed upon a table on the opposite side of the room and its sole occupant. The massive green orc now sat there had entered no sooner than an hour ago and instantly started gloating about how he had attained an Artifact through besting another in combat. He had consumed nearly a whole keg of ale since sitting down but was still showing a great deal of co-ordination. "He can sure handle himself, and given that his arms about the same size as my torso I'll have to play this smart." Ka'Ther whispered to himself as his finger made another pass around his mugs rim. His eyes slowly drift from the Orc to the intricately decorated leather bound book now lying on the table. All along the cover and spine are glyphs similar to the ones on his sword, all in shimmering silver.

Taking a deep breath Ka'Ther stands up and moves across the room, abandoning all at the table save for his sword held in his hand. Moving as silently as he can he makes his approach, sitting down in the seat across from the Orc before the creature can object. Ka'Ther flashes a slight smile before his face becomes its usual stoic appearance. "That is quite the nice book you have there. I'll give you a shiny gold piece for it." He allows his voice to enter into condescending tones as he lifts his right hand, holding a gold peice inbetwen his thumb and forefinger. The Orc barks out a laugh at the suggestion. "Oh really little man. This is not just some book. It's a relic of Serifim!" Ka'Thur nods his head slowly in acknowledgement at the orc's words. "Very true, very true, I'll give you something more valuable then." The orc, raising an eyebrow, leans forward to rest on his elbows as his eyes narrow. "Whatever you have is meaningless compared to the wealth I will obtain once I collect the rest of these." Leaning back in his chair the half-elf eyes the orc, letting a few moments pass before responding. "Even with all their power those that dwelt in the ancient castle were unable to give back a life once taken." His voice was deep and threatening, his red-brown eyes steering down those of the brute. Growling, the Orc leans in further, one of his hands disappearing under the table before reappearing with a large axe. "I don't like your tone, I've killed hundreds, what makes you think you will be any different?" Ka'Thur's lips curl into a smile once more, though this time it is a predatory one. "You're leaning."

Before the orc can react the table between them suddenly errupts as Ka’Thur’s blade cleaves the table in half on its upward slash. Arcing upwards from the table the last half foot of the blade passes through the green flesh of his opponent’s neck. As the half elf finishes the slash the creature slumps forward onto the table, his head rolling off his shoulders to fall onto the floor. Without a second glance Ka'Thur stands from his seat, flicks the black blood from his softly glowing blade and sheaths it before picking up the book. As the rest of the room watches in silence he crosses back to his table, grabbing his equipment he flicks the gold coin to the bartender. "My appologies for the mess, Innkeeper. I will take my leave." Striding out the door he places his sheath into his belt and starts onto his way.

There were heavy storm clouds building in the west, and Meiri had no idea how far she was from a town. It would rain in a few hours and she wanted a roof over her head before that happened, but the place she'd spent the last night was half a day behind her and not even worth trying for. It didn't help that her legs hurt like blazes, unaccustomed to riding for so long. She couldn't sit anything but a walk at the moment; a trot would give her bruises on top of her bruises, and at a canter or a gallop she would simply lose her seat, no question. With a sigh, the girl drooped over the neck of her gelding and gave the horse his head. Her blue eyes closed as she tried to relax. Maybe she could sleep a little...?

Nope. Because moments later the ring of metal withdrawn from a sheath sounded to her right, a little too close for comfort. Mei sat up, looking around wildly, and saw a man with teeth bared and a long, somewhat rusty blade. He looked familliar- oh, yes, he'd been in the common room of the inn the night before.

"Excuse me, sir? What are you doing here?" Her horse, young and antsy, danced sideways a little bit.

"Don' you sound all fancy, little missy. I wa' just after some o' that gold you flashed around las' night. And maybe some other things that caught me eye." He winked in a way she didn't like at all and nodded, which seemed to be a signal to someone on the other side. When Mei glanced over, there was another man there, mounted on a rawboned mean-looking horse and grinning to show yellowed teeth in an unpleasant fashion.

"Ah." The syllable was weak even to her own ears. "Well then. I'm afraid I need that money, but I'm sure you can find someone around here to work for who'll pay you, if you really need coin. I'll just be...leaving you to that, then." And as the two would-be brigands nudged their horses closer to her, she dug her heels into her gelding's sides and he set off at a canter; after another kick, it became a gallop. Mei knotted her fingers in his mane, daring only one look over her shoulder. Half-starved rangy creatures like those horses were no match for one from the Royal Stables, but she was comforted to see them fading into the distance as she shot forwards. Now, the only question was- where were they going? The reins flopped uselessly over the gelding's neck; she certainly couldn't let go her death grip on its mane to grab them and try and control their direction.

I'll just have to hope he knows where he's going.

Ka'Ther was just barely out of town before he was ambushed. A massive shadow lunges from the tall grass, so close that Ka'Ther only had time to turn his head before he was hit. The force of the impact took him clean off his feet, landing with a heavy thud on back first on the other side of the road. Looking up at his assailent Ka'Ther peers into the dark bkack eyes of a massive dog. "Ow... You know Ken, if you could just be like some of the other dogs and just sit waiting for me instead of ambushing me." He says with a slightly annoyed look on his face. The dog who was now half laying on him replied with only a whimper and a half tilted head. Sighing the half elf pats the dog's side heavily before giving the dog the command to get up.

As the two of them stand up and dust themselves off, a strange sensation tingles up Ka'Ther's spine starting just above his left hip. Reaching back he can feel the small Artifact still tucked away in his belt. Pulling it out he begins to study the book in the afternoon sun, the silver writing shimmering. Lowering the book slightly he opens it he begins flipping through page after page of ancient writing. "Well this might as well be written in giberish... maybe you can read it eh Ken?" Closing the book he lowers it till the dog is able to see it. As Kenpatchi gives the book a sniff Ka'Ther catches a glimmer in the silver writing once more. "Wait, the angles not right for the sun to..." Pausing for a moment he brings his left hand down to the handle of his katana and draws it out a few inches. As he suspected the blade was glowing a faint silver just as the letters were. "Come here boy, lets try something."

Moving off into the grass a bit Ka'Thur draws his sword fully before placing the book on the ground and the sword above it. As soon as the two get close a sudden light springs forth between them forming an image in the same silver hue. Ka'Thur's dark red eyes watch with awe as the light coallesses into an image of the surrounding terrain and several dots. "Look here Kenpachi, this must be us, see where the two dots are almost ontop of eachother. So that must mean that this dot is..." Looking closer he can see the third dot moving swiftly along the road and it was clear that they'd soon meet. Giving Kenpatchi a light slap on his side Ka'Thur retreaves the Artifacts and moves towards the road. "Looks like we're going to net two in one day. Pretty good." Walking out onto the road the two position themselves in the center, spaced out just enough to block passage. Pulling his gloves tight and making sure his blade is loose in his sheath as a small cloud of dust starts to billow far down the road.

There was a man standing in the middle of the road, Mei noticed. And next to him- was that a dog? It was far too large. Her horse, it would seem, agreed; as they approached she could hear his breathing coming faster, and his head jerked upwards. Then, as it seemed that they would careen into the two waiting figures, the gelding reared. Mei yelped, losing her grip on his mane as she fell gracelessly to one side. Arms flailing, she snatched at the reins, trying to keep the horse from bolting- and luckily, she was successful. She landed with a bump in the road, one hand clenched tightly around her mount's reins, the lathered horse staring at her and breathing hard, his muscles trembling.

Mei, too, couldn't move for a few moments. When she recovered her presence of mind, she took stock of the situation: All belongings intact; good. Escape from brigands; good. Running into possible further brigands; not so good. Her horse wasn't looking up to much running, either. With a huff, she got to her feet and dusted herself off.

"If it's gold you're after, ask now or forever hold your peace. I'm in no mood to deal with rude folk who startle horses into throwing their riders." She rested one hand threateningly on the hilt of the sword at her waist, trying to look as if she knew how to use it.

Ka'Ther and Kenpatchi watch with slight amusement as the girl and horse freak out and the rider is thrown, all because they refused to move. As the girl raises to her feet and makes her threat the samurai makes his assesment. Looking her over his lips curl into a slight smile, and when he speaks his voice comes out in the tones of a vexed teacher correcting a student. "If you plan to use that weapon you may want to hold it properly." Pointing in a careless fashion to her grip he gives a slight nod in the same direction. "The top of your thumb should be resting on the width of the hilt, not wrapped around it. And if you hold it that tightly you wont be able to manouver the blade properly." Lowering his head slightly and his tone into the baratone range, he looks at her through his black locks. "Last, don't draw against a samurai unless you're prepaired to die." With his left hand he tilts his hilt up slightly so that the sun glances off the silver metal of the bottom of the handle.

Ka'Ther could feel the tension between them as they both stand nearly motionless. The long silence is finally broken but a loud bark and a slight whimper from the Akita. Glancing over at his black, grey and white furred companion he can see the dog looking at him with slightly agitated eyes. "You're right Ken, not a really good way to do things." He wispers to the dog. Taking a slight breath he continues in slightly more pleasant tones in an attempt to ease the tension he had just created. "I am on a quest for the castle of Serifim. More than a hundred lives are depending on my success, and you have one of the items I need to find it. I do not wish to take your gold, and I will even give you some in order to obtain the relic you carry."

Samurai? Not. Good. Mei took a preemptive step back, dropping her hand from the sword she couldn't have drawn anyways and moving it to the nearest stirrup of her horse. She'd run the beast to foundering if the man threatened violence...though that dog looked large enough to catch them first.

"I don't have a relic. I've been looking, but..." She shrugged. "No luck. Just a bunch of theiving fools, that's all I've found."

Ka'Ther's eye twitches a few times in agrivation before he can stop it. The girl was obviously lying to him, the artifacts could not lie. "Do not try to flee I would prefer that this have a pleasant ending." Sliding his left had up the scabard of his sword he uses his thimb to push the blade out a few inches. Now able to see the metal of the blade he begins to slowly move it back and forth aiming it at different parts of the woman and horse. His eyes watch the blade closely noting the relative dim and brighten of the glowing blade as he tries to pinpoint the artifact on her. The glowing seems to get most intense when it points towards a small bag currently attached to the horse. Sliding the blade back into place he points to the bag. "Its in that one. If it makes you more at ease I won't move from this spot. Kenpatchi here will make the exchange." Motion for the dog to come to his side Ka'Ther retreaves a small pouch from his belt, one of the several small money pouches he kept on different parts of his person for security's sake. Holding it out to Ken the dog takes the pouch in his strong jaws and happily trots over to the horse and rider. "You can take what ever amount you from the pouch, just so long as I get that artifact." As he speaks Kenpatchi drops the pouch on the ground, nudging it forward with his nose before backing up a step and sitting down. His tail begins to wag as he pants happily, hoping this new person might scratch him behind his ears.

"You are a thief!" Meiri yelped, offended; he'd pointed straight to her coin pouch. She edged a step closer to her horse, wrapping her hand protectively around the little leather bag in question. "You and your shaggy beast probably just wait here to startle travellers, and then make up some pathetic story about lives depending on you so that they'll give up their valuables without a fuss! Fat chance." She pulled the ties that held coin purse to saddle loose, opened the bag, and pulled out the small bronze coin inside. It would be a pittance to a beggar...if he could hang onto it. Which, based on its behavior in the past, she very much doubted. She'd tried to use it to pay for food on three occaisions, and each time it had returned to her purse within five minutes.

"Here. Buy yourself some people skills," she said disparagingly, flicking it towards him so that it landed in the dirt at his feet. Then, ignoring the overlarge canine and the pouch it offered, she swung back up onto her tired horse and nudged him into a walk, making a wide circle around the 'samurai' and his mutt.

Kenpatchi makes a disgruntled noise as she calls him a shaggy beast, looking back towards his master with sad eyes. Ka'Ther shakes his head slightly. "Its ok Kenpatchi, you're not shaggy, your a magnificant sight." The dog smiles and wags his tail more as he picks up the scorned pouch and returns it to his master.

The half elf watches as the bronze piece sails through the air and lands at his feet with a small puff of dust. The girl is just barely past him when the three Artifacs react to their close proximity, each one emitting the silver light with greater intensity than Lord Hitsugaya had ever seen. "Whoa! That must be it. Bending over to pick the piece up he turns it over slowly in his hands, braving the light to inspect the ancent symbols. Without taking his eyes off the piece he begins to walk in the oposite direction of the girl, he would try the map spell once he was far enough away. "My thanks, fair lady. May the gods smile upon you."

Meiri, feeling smug and self-satisfied at having seen the strange, threatening man off so swiftly, got several hundred yards down the road before an uneasy feeling settled in the pit of her stomach. She glanced up- and her gaze was met by a flurry of white wings. The bird that had for days been following her as a speck in the sky was diving and diving fast, straight at her. It landed in a cacophany of rustling feathers on her saddlehorn, shaking itself until every last pinion lay flat and perfect before looking up at her and squawking. Mei, however, payed little attention to the harsh cry, having been distracted by the fact that the bird's eyes were...blue. Deep, rich blue-green, to be precise; in any regard, not natural. She tried to slide backwards, but there was nowhere to go. The bird looked annoyed, if birds could, and squawked at her again.

"What do you want?" the girl asked, frustrated. The creature extended one wing, pointing behind her.

"No. Been there already; nothing to see; moving on. We're looking for the relics of Serafim, and the best way to find them is moving forwards." At this, she could have sworn that the bird rolled its eyes. Any rate, it launched itself into the air again, slapping her arms several times with its wingtips before rising higher than her head and flying back the way she'd come. Against her better judgement, Mei turned her horse sideways so that she could watch. The white bird made a beeline for the 'samurai', and then arced into a dive right over the man's head. It was fixated on something- something he held.

Ka'Ther heard the bird at the last moment as it swooped towards him. Without a moments hesitation he drops into a forward roll to avoid the bird. Before he can even come out of the manouver his faithful akita had already taken off after the bird, growling meanicingly. As the large dog chaises the bird back and forth Hitsugaya checks to make sure the sudden roll hadn't made him loose anything to the road. Satisfied with the state of his equipment he turns to face the sound of hooves approaching from behind and lets out a sigh of agrivation when he can see the human rider returning. "I would have thought you did not want to be involved with 'brigands' such as myself..." As he eyes the girl suspiciously the half elf rolls the coin into the palm of his left hand, clentching it tight. Whatever happens she's not getting this back. She was foolish enough to part with it in the first place, she does not deserve to find the lost city.
