This was a large topic last night before the game. I'm sure all of you saw the game last night. Although the game was rather close, do you think the Spurs/Lakers rivalry has lost its luster? Do we have a new rival?
I think it has somewhat. To me, a few years ago, it was the small and noble Spurs going up against the reigning empire of the Lakers. With the whole Shaq and Kobe one-two punch, it was greatly gratifying to defeat them in the playoffs, and even worse to lose to them.
I think the biggest rivals right now are in Texas. After McGrady dropped those 3pt bombs on a possible victory in Houston last year, the Rockets asserted themselves as a threat to the championship run for future seasons for the Spurs. Also, the Mavs have proven to have the formula, and the firepower, to defeat us handily. I think this is the second time in a row (first game this season, and last game in the last year's regular season) they beat us by about 40 points. And I'm not looking forward to tomorrow's game in Dallas.
Detroit's a strong team too; they did take us into Game 7, and they seem to have a better starting five than us (I agree, but we beat them in the bench!). But we only play them twice in the season.
What's your opinion.

Nope... I personally think Spurs-Lakers rivalry are gone..I still remember it like it was yesterday..it was the 2002 season and the strongest players that time were Duncan and Shaq...Only they could defeat one another...Man that was incredible.
