inspired by something Alioth pointed out

this is a pretty big arguement because in the standard sense it's not an anime but it does in some cases deserve to be called one yet by definition it isn't an anime but is just another cartoon

some definations of anime:
1) A Japanese style/genre of animation. Movies and shows such as Akira, Princess Mononoke, Ghost in the Shell, Fullmetal Alchemist and Dragon Ball Z are all examples of anime. This style of animation used to be called "Japanimation" for a few years. The comic book equivalent is called manga.

2) Not an occult product in itself, but a cartoon form of storytelling imported from Japan. In many stories, the action is very violent; in some stories, the characters have occult powers.

3) The Japanese word for animation. In the west, a feature is considered to be anime if it originated in Japan. However, more recently this term has been used for films that follow Japanese anime styles and storylines, regardless of where they originated.

so what do you guys think?

I inspired something? wink

Well I say it is anime, although I also call it a cartoon. First of all, it seems that the characters would be like in a Japanese film (am I a jerk for saying that?) however the animation ITSELF is very western-y looking. Gyaaa, I don't actually know how it is classified.
What if it is a blend of both. A cartoon so Japanimated that it could be qualified as "anime"? Is this possible? Is it right?

IMDB here I come. Lets see who the creator is- Japanese or American.

Edit: The director and such is very much American. That would be Michael Dante DiMartino. There are other creators as well, but I do not feel like listing them.

Anime is defined as an animated show, produced in japan. Anime-esque shows that are made in the U.S. or another country are just plain animation. In the end, it means very little if the show is very good.
