i noticed this. a lot of vegetarians who only last a wekk to a month are the ones who can't cook anything harder than ramen. i guess they get sick of eationg veggie burgers and spegettios.

*shrugs* well, I can cook, but oftentimes I can't be bothered. Usually my dinner consists of a tin of tomatoes or hummus on a pita. If I'm feeling particularly greedy, maybe some fries or a yogurt or crackers afterwards. Mother constantly bitches I dont eat enough cooked food, but eh.

But then, i have food issues, and am more then contant with a monotonous diet so long as the foods are ones I'm comfortable eating.

Yeah. . . I personally don't mind eating the same thing night and night again if I can't be bothered to cook, but I recently discovered that my father was just a veggie because he's lazy. My mum did all the cooking, but when they split up he had to do it, so he started eating meat again.
Lazy sod. xp

People do tend to use that as an excuse, but if you have a microwave and internet access you can do just about anything. I survive off of nuked, packaged, and occasionally restruant food. I do try to eat veggies, but unless I make my parents buy them they're not usually there.

It's an excuse to learn to cook, if nothing else. Also, Peta.org offers recipies for free!

I agree too.

I was just at the store looking at Morningstar Meatless products, and they seem so very... unnesessary. They have like... 800 ingredients in them.
I'd rather just eat an organic Portobello (cooked) or some eggplant, tempeh, quinoa or lentels. Organic, preferably.

Yeah. I survive off of apples and bananas. Need protein more often.

I always cook my own food. I typically have stir fry for dinner, since it's the easiest thing to make as a vegan. I've made some homemade soups and other things, but primarily it's some kind of tofu stir fry. For lunch I usually have hummus sandwish with mushrooms and lettace and some blue corn chips or plain rice cakes. Then for for breakfast I usually have kashi whole 7 grain puffs or nuggets with soy milk. When I am not at my dorm and at home I cook myself some oatmeal over the stove and usually have hummus and veggies. I also usually have fruit with every meal. I preffer making my own food because then I know what is in it. If I buy a lot of processed foods then I have to worry a lot about where things come from and how it was made.

After being a vegetarian for over a year, I've only just recently found out about "hidden" ingredients that aren't vegetarian: rennin, gelatin, kosher and refined SUGAR (the process of sugar uses bone char). My mum usually cooks for me and she almost always adds sugar to her cooking and a lot of my favourite snacks have sugar in it sad Even my multivitamins had gelatin in it and I hate swallowing it, mine were those chewy kid ones. So only recently I'm cooking for myself entirely, it's a good excuse to learn to cook, yes but I'm not really liking this whole thing.

I also never found quitting meat difficult, I never needed substitutes, I've tried them before and they are quite yummy though xd

It's a shame if a lot of people quit being veg*n just because of cooking, there are tons of ready-meals out there even for veg*ns and it's not that hard to cook!

Yeah I found out recently about the bone-char used for refined sugars. Fear not though, Sugar in the Raw is an all natural cane sugar turbiniod. It is not refined and doesn't use animal products what so ever. Products that use evaported cane juice are safe.

edit: some products now are starting to have a vegan certification seal. It is certified by vegan.org. The certifications I found to be useful.

Also I noticed that in a lot of veggie cheese and some other products they contain caesin (milk protein). There is also another symbol, the K symbol which means there is absolutely no dairy in the product. It's also another symbol I consider useful.

Oh god, I've been baking with refined sugar for so long gonk
Next time I go to Whole Foods I'll be sure to pick some vegan sugar up.
My mom will probably roll her eyes at me DD:

ONWARD TO THE TOPIC

I survive on baked beans and Hormel vegetarian chili, as most of the time I'm tired and lazy.
Sometimes I'll grill some crunchy greens and top them with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Ohmigod it is total YUMGASM.
For breakfast I have some Kashi cereal with soymilk, oatmeal, or an Amy's toaster pastry :9
Ohyah and lunch. If I'm at home I'll have a mache salad, if at school I have soymilk and a Luna bar.

Canned mandarin oranges are my favourite snacky biggrin DD
