Lyris took one step to the edge of the rail. Her thin, white cotton dress blew in the breeze, and she shivered. She looked down below, into the cold, dark water. It was a long way down.

Hopefully Hades wouldn't be to hard on her. She made a blessing to her mother, and then, hating herself for it, one for Erichthonius. The god had loved her, and that was it's own reward.

She held her arms out like an eagle, then, bracing herself, she jumped. She screamed as she fell, downwards. Her raven colored hair streamed out behind her, the wind stinging her arms. She closed her eyes, ready for death.

Then, a swooping chariot pulled by two snakes. Erichthonius smiled, as he caught her, and brought her on.

Lyris's eyes were still closed. She continued to wait for death. She was suddenly aware her heart was beating, and she was no longer falling. She opened her eyes.

Kevin payed for a room in the hotel with the nicest possible view. He walked out onto the deck and leaned on it, peering down into the falls.
