Philadelphia Union to play 1st home game at Linc

CHESTER, Pa. (AP)—The Philadelphia area’s new Major League Soccer team says its stadium in won’t be ready in early April for the 2010 home opener.

The first Philadelphia Union home game instead will be played April 10 at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Philadelphia is hosting the D.C. United.

The soccer team announced the move Wednesday, noting that the football stadium’s larger capacity will allow more fans to attend the inaugural game. The team says construction on its own stadium in Chester is moving rapidly and the majority of 2010 home games will be played there.
