Jill opened the door, bell dinged, Marlene: " Hi miss how may i help you " she sadi while wiping the counter. "I was hoping to to have a Iced vanilla coffee" Marlene nodded and went to making the coffee.

Macleod and Amber arrived, they sat down and Marlene brought their usual over "Amber, after all these years together... you've known how i've felt about you..." he sighed.

Amber squirmed slightly in her seat, taking a sip of the vodka filled coffee to steady herself. “Yes, I do, don’t I.” She sighed. “I’ll... I’ll admit to being fond of you...” She spoke, before gazing at him. “You know how dangerous it is to pursue me Robert.”

She laughed. “Yes yes, I know. You’re superman without the tights.” She winked at him, and sighed. “But I’m older than you, much so... Could you live knowing I have to change myself... My being, in order to survive? That another life has to be sacrificed because of it?”

Amber turned away for a moment, unable to look at his smiling face. She thought about what he was asking, what he was implying, what it would mean. She turned back to him, walking off the table as she went across his seat and deposited herself in his lap. She gave him a soft kiss. “Very well Macleod.” She whispered. “We can see where this goes.” With that she turned back and returned to her seat.

Amber raised a suspicious eyebrow. “And what happens if I outlive you?” She asked. “You may be able to regenerate yourself, but can you escape death completely?” She scoffed. “And another thing, if this is to work... You’re going to have to make me trust you.” She looked deeply into his eyes. “I need to know you can... Bend the chains now and then between us.”

Amber felt something twist near her chest at those words. Painfully so. If he died she would simply go on living. He was 70 in human years after all, but still it seemed... It seemed so... Harsh. “Thank you for your honesty.” She said instead, covering up her worries with a smile. “You’ve been very... Understanding.” She tried to find a distraction. “Can you bring us a refill?” She told Marlene who nodded, filling their cups, which Amber cradled delicately in her hands, relishing in the warmth.
