Consisting of one main island as well as a limited number of smaller coastal islands, Na-Nal provides a stark contrast to the peaceful Nay, being divided by racial differences. The southern part of the island is inhabited by the human citizens who have a warrior culture unique to the region. Across the Na-Nal Gorge lies the Great Elven Tree where the Elven community dwells.
By SY 304, relations had deteriorated to the point where a member of one village visiting the other was strictly prohibited
A medium sized town located in the southern half of the island. The town of Na-Nal is seemingly quite ordinary with a variety of stores and businesses as well as a hot spring. However, the warrior culture which is ingrained in the human population of Na-Nal means that every citizen is readily able to go to war at a moment's notice. Every citizen of Na-Nal also has some sort of colored triangular mark on the center of their foreheads. This seems to note some kind of social status, as if the triangle points upward (as Axel's) it denotes some kind of nobility, whereas the triangle pointing downward is found on other those who are regular citizens (as Jewel, Rikie, and Rakgi).
In 304, Na-Nal entered into an alliance with the Kooluk Empire, being persuaded to do so by the arguments of Troy. However, this alliance did not last long, with the Kooluk forces occupying the island turning on their hosts after they believed that Na-Nal had attempted to poison them. Afterwards, Na-Nal worked alongside the liberation movement fighting against the Empire during its incursion.
Na-Nal also held frosty relations with the Kingdom of Obel in the past. However, the work of Obel in not only liberating Na-Nal but the island nations in general seem to have caused these tensions to vanish within the Island Nations Federation.
By 309, attempts were known to be made to cool tensions between the human and elven settlements on the island. Although Axel had become Island Chief following the Island Liberation War in 307, succeeding his father, his father regained the position for a short period in 309 while Axel assisted Kyril on his mission in Kooluk on behalf of Lino En Kuldes.
Na-Nal Gorge:
A large gorge running through the middle of Na-Nal Island. Na-Nal Gorge has a long rocky path running through it leading to the Great Elven Tree on the far side of the island. Large jagged rocks protrude from the chasm while thick fog rises up, curling around the rocks creating a foreboding atmosphere.
Great Elven Tree:
A large tree, not unlike that of Lukiae Ende Towayo in the Toran Republic. The Great Elven Tree lies to the north of Na-Nal Island across the large Na-Nal Gorge. Living at the tree is a colony of Elves who according to several Na-Nal residents had actually emigrated to the island.
The elven population consider themselves a separate entity from the ruling body of Na-Nal and do not abide by its laws or government. For example, in SY 304, the elven population did not agree to a truce with Kooluk unlike the human government on the island and so had no qualms about attempting to poison Kooluk troops in response to Kooluk demands for a rare Elven elixir.
After the Kooluk Southern Expansion is halted, it is assumed relations between the two groups on the island remain frosty although attempts were known to be made to cool tensions by Na-Nal Island Chief, Axel and Elven warrior, Selma by 309.
