Ok the thing with magics is that most people that them way out of proportion. So I'm gonna break it down now.
First off most magics(excluding manipulations),even elemental it is not persay... real.... like fire magic, it can't really set entire forests on fire, it can burn something but it dies after about ten seconds of leaving your body. So you can burn a tree but you can't set it on fire. Also Manipulation is far different from summon or elemental magic. Manipulation for one can only control a REAL existing magic. So you can't manipulate the fire magic your enemy throws at you. But you can manipulate the fire burning in the torch. Also elementals, If you summon a lightning bolt two feet from you... realize it's gonna hurt you can too, elemental magic cannot be manipulated not even by the castor. Also summoners, or necromancers, you cannot control other characters, like necromaners you cannot control a (Human controlled) undead unless you have their consent.
