Ronnel stood at the edge of the dunes, staring out across them blankly. He held up his hand, studying it.
"I'm meant to be a taijutsu master.. but with you within me, my leaning must perforce focus more equally on Taijutsu and Ninjutsu." He sighed as a demented cackle rippled through his thoughts. He forced the mental connection between himself and the Shukaku closed as he slowly withdrew the scroll that Kazuo had tossed him.
"Hrm. Sand Jutsu basics. The uh, Muki Suna Kaishin ((Inorganic Sand Conversion)). Looks useful... but what am I going to practice it on out here?" As he spoke, he spotted a small stone about three yards away. He walked over and picked it up, tossing it back and forth between his hands. His hands zipped through the jutsu seals as the stone flew from left to right, and when he caught it, the stone slowly crumbled into sand.
"Now that wasn't that hard."

Ronnel stood on a sand dune, tossing the scroll of Doton techniques from Zean from hand to hand, occasionally using his sand as well.
"Hmm.... ok, time to rethink this.." He stared out across the sand dunes, sighing.
"Can't exactly train in Earth moves here.. in a place of sand..." He sighed. "Not unless I want to clear all the sand away from a particular spot, and that might take a while, even for me." The chunin shrugged and headed for the Earth country.

Naota Shimizu suddenly found himself in a large Desert several miles from any villages out in the middle of a bunch of sand dunes. he was chasing two people before and he had lost them between here and the Leaf village. Naota trudged through the dunes as lost as a needle in a hey stack. "damn... need water..." Naota said as he felt his throat get dryer and dryer.

Naota walked for hours fighting against the heat as if it were his worst enemy. he had drank all of his water and now he was just trying to stay alive. Naota formed some hand signs then used the Okuridashi Kaze (Propelling Winds) to launch himself into the air to travel farther in less time. he was caught off guard though when his feet hit the top of a Sand dune and he rolled forward coming to a stop at the bottom of it laying on his back in the sand. Naota looked up at the cloudless sky wondering if he was going to die here or not.

Rei ran, hard and fast. As she had been leaving she had seen- she gasped the dry desert wind. She had seen Drake... Zane... kill himself with Hirose's help... Shige was all she had left and Naota was the only human she thought she could trust. She had to get to him. Fast. His chakra looked weak...

Naota felt a familiar chakra nearby. he looked off to his side and noticed a person running towards him. the person looked very far away, but as they got closer he noticed that it was Rei and Shige. he quickly got up trying to walk but he stumbled forward in a failed attempt. "Rei!" Naota shouted happily as he watched her. Naota began to gather chakra through out his body so that he wouldn't be so week when they got to him.

Rei finally got to him and smiled, She saw him try to stand and rolled out a blanket from her pack. She spoke, "Please lay down, you look exhausted. Please save your chakra too? I could see your chakra was weak a while off."
"Since you're with me, you should know i have byakugan. I'm sorry if any trouble or harm comes your way from association. But for now- you're dehydrated. I'm a water elemental, let me get some moisture out of the air and compact it. You can take bites from the disc once i get enough moisture. I can't get it all from one place or they're won't be enough moisture for us to breathe with. I'll be ok cause being a water elemental- i can preserve my own internal fluid here."

Naota rolled onto the blanket looking up at her with a smile. "thanks. and you should know that... i have the Three Tailed Demon sealed within me. but only few people know this...." Naota said in a calm voice. he was exhausted from walking in the heat for so long but he started to build up lots of chakra rather quickly seeing as his chakra control was so good. "thanks for the water.... for some reason i feel like i can realy trust you." Naota told her seeing as they were alone for the time being.

Rei's eyes shone, she AND Shige had known there was something special about Naota. A demon huh? Weren't they an oddball pair. A byakugan Inuzuka on the run and a boy with a demon sealed away. No wonder he could build up chakra so quickly. She let her chakra return to her center as her Byakugan deactivated. But honestly, Rei knew that their oddball-ness isn't what made her eyes shine. It was his comment. He- trusted her. It was nothing new, so many, even strangers, found comfort in telling her their life story. But- she trusted Naota in return. But all Rei said was, "Anytime Naota, I promise I'll do whatever I can to take care of you." She smiled and winked, "Let me know if you get thirsty again. Or if you still are for that matter." She smiled again, but then her face turned to a pondering look. "How much would you say you weigh Naota?"

Naota flipped over onto his hands and knees. he then slowly stood up feeling a bit better. "trust me. i wont let anything ever happen to you. i promise that ill always be there to protect you. no matter what the cost." Naota told her as he reached his hand out towards hers. he was feeling a lot better at the moment and when he saw he eyes shine it made him smile. "but if you dint mind i would like a bit of water. you can take your time getting it. because we have all the time in the world right now" Naota said softly as he looked into her eyes for a moment.

Rei smiled and took his hand. It was strong for someone who was a 17 year old's little brother. The muscles in his body stretched as he stood and a small laugh came from Rei's softly parted lips. Still smiling, she watched him stand. "Thank you, i'm good at some things, but- i'm not that strong yet. Actually, even for a Genin, I consider myself a bit weak. Thank you- for the offer of protection." Normally, Rei hated being weak, but he didn't make her feel too bad about it. She would get stronger but she greatly appreciated his offer for protection. She did feel grateful and she hoped it showed. She was used to speaking with her eyes and body. It came from spending so much time with animals. They couldn't talk like humans could. To them- the world was infinite, much like this hidden desert. Like Naota said, all the time in the world...
As he stood she got a better gauge of his size, Shige could definately carry both of them. She looked to Shige, "If you're not too tired mi corazon, can you carry us to a place with more water in the air?" Shige grunted but slowly got to his feet. Even after reaching adulthood, he never stopped growing. He was a good six hundred or so pounds now. Shige nodded his assent.Rei leapt onto his back with practiced grace and held on with her legs. Then she looked to Naota, "Would you mind Shige picking you up? He will take us to a place with more water."

Naota smiled at her. "im only a genin too... but i have learned some pretty strong techniques... and im only getting stronger when i have time to train... but don't worry. your not weak at all. you have enough strength to even beat me." Naota told her as he had enough strength to jump up onto Shige by himself hoping the wolf could carry the weight. "you know the best place to go for water is a large Waterfall in the Water country. its called the Serene Waterfall. we could head over there." Naota said as he didn't want to make Shige go to far with the both of them.

"You're a very powerful Genin, but, I might be able to beat your human counterpart, but you have someone else inside you. That demon would help you out of a tight spot." Rei winked at him, "And hey- no worry. Shige could take us to any ocean in the world with my help, that is what we are." She smiled at Shige. He shook out his beautiful coat and Naota slid into place in front of her. She gripped Shige with her legs and asked, "Have you ever ridden a wolf before Naota?"

Naota smiled when she asked him if he had ever ridden a wolf before. "yes, yes i have. but only once. so i might need a refresher." Naota replied as he wasn't thinking about his past for the moment or that he had a very powerful thing sealed inside of him.
