Floods. Rain. Tsunamis. Hurricains. The world is covered in water. Everything is water. Some parts are deeper, some are shallow. There are few islands left, and even they tend to go with the tide. People learn to adapt to it. People who didn't. City's have been developed under water, villages, towns, homes. There are civilizations, school, governmental systems. Its as though everything was just moved from lands to water.

Name: Ring Age: 19 Species/Breed: Hybrid Sea Dragon Gender: Male Appearance: Rightcha Other Appearance: Sea Dragon (The little dragon in the chick's hands... Think that, only a liiiiittle bit bigger.) Description/Nature: Ring is rather shy, not one to put himself out there. He hates attention, and will almost go to great lengths to avoid it. He enjoys his human form more than his draconic form, and usually takes to lounging around one of the few islands left on the surface. His home is a hollowed out cave beneath one of his favorite islands. If someone ever does earn his trust (which can be a difficult ordeal), they will find him to be a timid, kind soul. A free spirit, fun-loving. He just usually has his fun by himself. He can't speak. Won't speak. The only sound you'll hear out of him is a soft hummed tune, or a song. He does like to sing. (He has a lovely tenor voice. :3)

x f o r e v e r x19 ((XD Reng...you would be a dragon! So umm...who wants to start? ._.?)) (( 'Course I would. *preen* I will, if no one else! *posts anyway* ......Long post. biggrin )) The sunlight sparkled from the surface, leaving trails of refracted light filtering down to Ring's position. He floated in the water, coiled, suspended on an invisible string. His eyes were closed and he was at peace. Then he whistled, a quiet, cheerful sound, and dove further into the ocean. Below him, there were ruins of the past civilizations, lost land-dwellers' buildings and items. A few bones. But that was expected. When people die, they leave bones and things. Ring was only interested in the shiny things.
Oh... Something is down there, in that opening...
The small dragon coursed through the water, darting perfectly into the square opening of a window. There was a tiny orb, a crystal ball. It could be said that whoever lived in this building before the Sinking was a medium... Or just enjoyed the shiny object as much as Ring did. He let out a thrilled trill, clutching the orb tightly in his claws. It felt cool. Cold. Abnormally cold. But Ring didn't think anything of it. He kicked his hind-talons, tail thrashing behind him, and swam back to the sparkling light at the surface. He broke water, floating for a moment to locate his island. Yes.
My island...
It was a tiny speck on the horizon, and not much bigger up close. But there was a small makeshift shelter, shade from the sun, and a neat storage cubby dug into the side of a large rock. The rocks made up the majority of the island, cold and gray, but there was some sand, though it eroded little by little each day. His shelter would soon join the rest down at the bottom of the ocean. It made him sad...But there were always other places to go.
He walked to his cubby, his form changing gracefully from scales to flesh, bright blue eyes and black hair. A simple garb that he had found floating on a body one day. He laid the boy to rest, keeping and repairing the clothes for his own human guise. Every dragon had it. His wasn't perfect. Fins protruded and wiggled behind his ears. It didn't bother him... He usually pulled the hood of his jacket up over them. They could flatten enough that no one would notice. If there ever was anyone nearby.
There never is... So empty.
Ring sighed, and even that was a little melodic. He set the crystal ball in the cubby, next to other shimmering objects-- mirrors, pieces of colored glass, broken vases, jewelry, stones (precious and otherwise). He collected it all.
Then he turned, without much warning, and stared at the horizon. Blue, everwhere. Except where clouds covered the sky. It was black water, there. Dark and angry. He bit his lip, turning back to his treasures. There was a bag he always kept nearby, for such purposes. He quickly began to stuff the items in the bag just as the wind started to pick up. Even though the world was bare and covered in water, storms still hit. And this one hit fast and hard.
He had just finished tying the bag shut when the winds really began to toss around. His wooden shelter, made from driftwood and pieces from the ruins he could use, toppled over into the water. He cried out, a piercing high note, but held on tight to his treasures. A dragon never let anything happen to his treasure. The wind threw sand, wood, and even a few small rocks. One such piece of flying wood smacked Ring in the head, throwing him back into the ocean, and out of consciousness. He drifted, sinking, his bag of shinies still held in one hand.

It was ribbons. All of it.
It danced around in great ruffles in which things waltzed between it as I did now. It wrapped around my entire body, the cool cobalt blue paper chains caressing my abdomen, my lovely golden locks of hair, brushing against my cheek as they rose above my head.
I was in love with the way the streamers made my hair fan out about me and I adored the way the sunlight reflected upon the surface; the way the rays seemed smeared across the water filled sky turning them from a warming orange glow to a soft white light. A hint of a smile spread across my face causing tiny bubbles to escape from my lips.
I knew soon enough I would have to go to the upper lands for air, but since my body was equipped with a blood stream, which needs little air compared to my ancestors, I could stay beneath the water in normal flesh for around forty-five minutes. I stretched my toes wide feeling the garland instantly filling the gap.
I sighed with content and began to twist backwards, bending my spine and straightening my legs. Ballet was my passion. My mother was a dancer and taught me all that I know. I’ve always wished for grace. I craved elegance. Naturally I had been told I was quite refined due to my second nature, yet it was never enough for me.
Again I sighed, watching as the froth slipped through my scarlet lips, vibrating like silent words through the azure skin that covered all. I decided that I would come up for air. Let it be quick and painless. I shifted my shoulders and reached my slender arms above me. My wrists bent at the joints and I pushed down with a fierce strength though tight fingers. My toes pointed out of habit causing me to glide through the trimmings of light blue. I repeated the motion a couple times, my locks smoothing back on my head in a weightless manor. Within seconds I reached the surface, my head breaking through the glass easily.
I now felt the mass of my hair wrapped tightly to my head in a watery film and I loathed it. Hence I floated on my back eyes adjusting to the new harshness of the brightness around me. I lounged upon the ocean in similarity with a lily-pad. The sky above me was as big as the sky beneath me. I noted right away the darkness of clouds that were rolling in quite fast. Instinctively I wanted to duck into my safety. I knew if the gale was bad it couldn’t harm me if I was deep enough.
However, I noted that two my left there was something that sunk in and out of the ocean. I leveled my head and squinted against the horizon. It bounced on top of the surf but the odd thing was it never moved. I swam closer, my eyes fighting the distance. What could it be? Then it hit me. It was an island! A god forsaken island! Without a second thought I propelled myself with current, the gust pressing against my back.

The second I felt the mud leave my big webbed foot, I knew something life-changing was about to start. No longer could I touch the mucky floor and keep my head above water. No. Now it was sand, and it was deep. I could hardly catch my breath as I paddled twords the Left sun, hoping it would lead my to the right side of life. I breebed the teachings of my people, leaping out of the water, then arching under, and tossing myself up again. My round, brown body moving through the water with ease. I notcied many things as I travled. I saw a whale, which was only a myth to my people. Forever, I documented my sighting in my memory, watching the grand beast curl and weave, calling out to no-one with its bellowing, vabrato notes. I clattered back to him, but he payed no heed. He was marred with lonelyness. I knew he was not what I was swimming for, and headed on. My lungs couldn't stand being submurdged for too long, or too deep, but I would venture to the corral every once in a while, and observe its beauty, learn from it. Eventually, the Left and Right sun set, and I was left to be guilded by the three moons. As I swam, I squinted into the moons, trying to see beyond the swells that tended to overwhelm me. I, by dawn, was heading twords a mass of land. A mysterious island.

Bubbles drifted from Ring's lips in a surprised burst. His eyes flickered open, then widened. How long had he been drifting? Down...
down...
He felt something brush against his arm, looking over to find his bag of shinies held tightly in an all-too-human hand. Maybe that was why he felt so strange. There was a shimmer about him, a quiet, sad note, and his form enlongated, scaled, and finned. He curled around his bag, holding it tightly against his serpentine body. Lazily, he turned his reptilian head about, trying to gather his bearings. He had to get back to his island. What happened to his little home? Tail-fin flipping rapidly, he propelled himself skyward with astounding ease and grace, long body moving fluidly through the ocean.
He heard a sad, lonesome song in the distance, his ear-frills flaring for a moment to listen. He gave out a sad, chirping call, though bubbles garbled it. So he continued swimming for the surface, a quiet tune humming in his throat, easily heard through the water, unlike his singing through the mouth.
It took him another ten minutes before Ring finally surfaced. He had drifted quite a ways away from his island. And something didn't feel right. There were other vibrations in the water heading for his home. Frills flared in a sudden sense of territorial jealousy, he leapt through the water to dive back in and launch himself like a long, slender rocket. His hind-legs kicked, webbing between each toe catching and pushing him through the water like a crocodile's feet would.
My island!
In his territorial anger, and fear of his home being invaded, he let out a shrill cry. A warning. If anything was nearby, it would definitely hear it. And he would know it.

That shreek... I paused, mid leap, and let myself sit, padddling in the frothing sea. The wind had grown stronger as I paddled, causing it to be harder on me as I tried to keep myself afloat. Eventually I came to the conclution that whatever was on the island would be willing to share until I was well enough rested to move on. I kicked out, and swam to the shallows around the island, claming my breathing while I thought of what to tell the creature who was already living here.

(( Guys, don't forget to go create a profile for the main RPs.. They're ready to flourish, so as soon as we get more people ready to RP, we'll be starting them. Don't lag behind! razz ))
A tremor wracked through his body as he slithered through the water. His bag of shinies was clutched tighter, the claws on each finger nearly tearing a hole in the fabric. He let out another cry, bringing it above water to make sure everything heard it.
His island was so close now.
So close!
And just before reaching the shallows, he launched himself out of the water to land near the old rock cubby his shinies were kept in. He gave a skeptical look around this portion of the island, where his little wooden shack leaned against the rocks. He put the bag in its place, then went to look at the damage the storm from earlier had caused. The wooden hut was leaning heavily to one side, pieces missing and holes quite visible through its structure. It wouldn't last in another storm, for sure.
Ring let out a quiet, sad trill, ear-frills lowering. Then he turned his head away from the hut, curling around the rocks that shielded his treasure. Serpentine pupils dilated then contracted to tiny slits in the depths of all that amber of his iris. What had dared disturb the water around his island?
Seeing nothing, he turned back to his hut and moved to the water nearest. He tested it with his tail, his eyes focusing distantly on the clouds still hanging overhead. The wind had not died down much, but it was bearable.
The treasure is safe for now.
And so he sat, feeling the water's tiny tremors as various things swam by. He could only feel one other massive vibration, unlike earlier when he felt two. One must have heard his warning and turned away. Satsified he could handle one trespasser, he settled in the sand and began to hum, his long, serpentine body curled around in a beautiful display of green and blue scales.

By the time I had reached the small shallow lining of the island it was dusk. I had turned into what I dislike due to the lack of strength in my mortal body. The moonlight reflected off the changing waters. The beautiful cerulean ribbons had turned black; a spiteful darkness that eventually claimed all. I loathed the way the cooling waves turned an icy temperature. Yet the night held a traitor; the moon. I hated it at most; the way it watched silent as the earth died in my eyes. It stood a guilty witness superior to the sky, pulling the tides back and forth as it does so effortlessly. I shuttered the very feel of it watching me. It’s white light caressing my bare back. As the tides rolled up on the sandy bank I went with it. In all honesty I could have gone up on the island straight away, nonetheless I held back. In all my life I’ve wanted to touch a true island; one that my mother told me about so long ago. I wanted it to be the perfect moment. I held back just as I knew I would until the surf swept me in closer. It was bitter sweet. Like a slave being let go for the first time, my fingers brushed the sand. Instantly I was in love with it; in love with the very touch of something solidly dry. I clawed at it, drawing my being upon the earth. Earth! The word suddenly seemed so foreign; so alien. A warm wetness stung at my eyes as looked about me. The island was a large in my view. One half of the side of the beach was held by sand. The other side was made of rock. It was positioned out of the water in a jagged cut line. The swell of blackness threw itself against it with a tremendous looking force. The rock face didn’t move; it remained proud as the white light glistened off the sea cliff. A sudden inquisitiveness held me. Moving back into the damp, I felt the change come over me. I refused to think about it as the warm glow shifted about me. When I opened my eyes I was mortal again. Stepping up upon land my toes dug into the grains of the earth. Moving with a stealthiest I climbed the crag and what I saw was astounding. Within the rock were pools of water! And within pools were the creatures from the very ocean in which I lived! Never had I seen these creatures outside of the salted skin. I sat absolutely absorbed with these things. Always had I seen them yet never seen them at all! I plucked the very crabs and fish in which I was so interested, and set them on the bare ground. I’d let out a shriek of pure joy to see them scramble back into the shallow pool. Heaven does exist, I thought purely to myself. I was now living in it.
