Ah I've only just finished this series so I can comment on something. smile
Teru Mikami and Kyomi Takada were my least liked characters. They were self serving, easily corrupted and arrogant- exactly the kind of people who should not be entrusted with a Death Note.

Light Yagami. He may have had a righteous cause, but he abused the power he had and manipulated people to get what he wanted. As well as throwing in his own self-serving vain cause. (To become a god.) Whoever told him that he was able to become a god should be shot. (Seriously. No joke. Even if it is Ryuk... Poor, poor Ryuk. Always getting picked on...) He was just another human with another idealistic thought of what the world should be; only turning that ideal thought into a living hell to amuse a bored shinigami.
Aside from Death Note character hating, I also hate Sasuke. It's obvious that he's homosexual, and a complete jack-off. As well as being a played-out character with no future ahead of him. (I haven't seen all the episodes, and the anime+YTV suck right around now... x3 )
I have to say that I really liked Lawliet(L), Micheal(M), Near(N), Ryuk, and Touta Masuda. Haha, Masuda was like my favourite through the entire series because he was so clumsy and quite emotional. It didn't matter how risky he was during the series. I really liked his personality. I wonder... Could I get along with Obata, if I enjoyed his character Masuda? Hm...
(Gah! Me and my geekiness have caused more weird chitty-chitty-chat. What? xD )

Hm...tough call. Personally I didn't like Mello and Near, they were just wannabes of L in my opinion. Go L I say... xd
Light Yagami was ok actually, the representation of any human given power in that (unearthly and unrealistic as it may) situation. Sure he was selfish and arrogant, but then if the Death Note had fallen into the hands of a complete coward there wouldn't have been a plot. lol Light had the right idea, he just went about it in the wrong way.
