Welcome to Academy X

Two years ago, in the 620 Universe, human and mutant relations seemed to be getting better on the planet Earth. That was until the horrifying events that occurred six months ago. One fateful night, after a long absence from the limelight, Magneto appeared above New York. Finally driven to insanity, he unleashed an attack on New York which killed 2.5 million innocent civilians both human and mutant.

The X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, and any other hero in New York City fought Magneto and his Brotherhood back and stopped them from doing any more damage. This was not the end of the conflict. SHIELD, a United Nations sanctions organization, found Magneto and his Brotherhood to be a threat. When Magneto and his team fled to the Island of Genosha, SHIELD unleashed several Sentinels with a seek and destroy order. The citizens of Genosha would not allow for their leader to be destroyed. Five million mutants died in this conflict as Genosha was scorched and left for rubble. Magneto was presumed dead.

Despite Magneto being presumed dead, the human vs. mutant conflict was escalated to the highest peak. Mutants were hunted. Children were cornered.

It was time for the X-Men to act. For many years, the Xavier Institute served as a home and school for children and teenagers who desired to learn about their abilities and train to be X-Men. No longer. To look impartial, Charles Xavier stepped down as head master of his school and appointed two opposing mutants as headmasters: Scott Summers and Emma Frost.

The Xavier Institute (or "Academy X" as newer students call it) was now open to all students as a safe house. Even if students didn't want to become X-Men or even if they did not share the Xavier view, the Xavier Institute would protect and teach each student equally.

"Academy X" was now open to everybody.

Over time, those students who joined the Xavier Institute as a safe haven grew to learn their powers and skills. They fought on the front lines defending their lives from villains such as Sugar Man, Fitzroy, Mystique, Mr. Sinister, and the Hellfire Club... they took their blows and stood strong. No longer were they just students, but they were becoming something more... they were becoming X-Men.

Trouble doesn't find them. They find trouble.

-------------------

What to do in your character's first post:

All new characters will have been a student at the Xavier Institute for six months to a year. Because they have shown exceptional skill above their peers, they will be promoted from their student team to one of the Junior X-Men teams (this was assigned to you upon application approval.) The first post of the character would have them talking to either Scott Summers or Emma Frost about their promotion. Their dorm room would also be moved to the area where the Junior X-Men students are housed.

What is the difference between the Alpha and Omega teams:

Technically there is no difference between each team in the school; however, the Alphas are traditionally the "good guys" who believe in Xavier's ideals. The Omegas are traditionally more rogue/bad boys and fall more into their own ideals of how things should be done. This is not always the case, though. You don't HAVE to make your character take those views when on either of those teams.

Alpha wears a black uniform with blue detailing. Omega wears a black uniform with red detailing.

Alpha: Get With It

Gotta love being steam rolled by things. Not only was she still trying to get over the hump of being the words worst team leader in the past month... she was now saddled into wearing a controlling cuff for her powers. As Summer and Forge addressed her before she boarded the jet (straight for the co-pilot seat since she was pissed to no end and didn't want anybody to see it), they made it clear they didn't want her power to be an unpredictable factor.... in a bad way. She understood their intentions but it didn't make a hot head like her any less angry about it.

She was the last to leave the X-Jet. Her uniform was simple, nothing flashy. Black pants, black corset top. Some hidden weapons. One sword holstered across her back. But now she had that stupid silver band around her arm. Oh well, focus on the mission. She didn't need this power to succeed. She had trained five years without it.

She frowned listening to the team bickering. She had done nothing to stop it in the past and it had only grown worse. Alpha had, at one time, been the best team for team work and now they could barely go a moment without a fight.

From behind them and quite abruptly her voice was sharp but not loud as to gain any unwanted attention, "We're all on the same team today no matter how long people have been called an Alpha. The moment we discriminate against somebody for being new, that's the moment we stop being a team. Every person here learned from somebody older than them, and if you think differently, then you don't remember the past very well."

She looked at Magnate when she said that remembering having to talk him down from his power a few times as a New Mutant, "I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting tired of the Omegas trying to peg us as the team that doesn't get along. How about we start showing them what we can really be like?"

She nodded to Bella that she was in her right form for this mission and then winked to Reikon letting him know she was gonna be fine, "We're going to compromise this one. We are going to have teams but we are also going to have a lead (or leads) and a shadow. The lead will head out down the block and the shadow is responsible for keeping an eye out on the lead without being seen. Those of us with stealth and cloaking will primarily be the shadows... We are also going to maintain one block distances between ourselves so we are not to far out of range of our teammates. Those who are together in twos... make yourselves look like you're just out having fun."

"I will shadow for Arctic and Nina. Veritas will shadow for Synapse and Slate. Night Shade will shadow for Crusader. Shard with shadow for Siren. Arrow with shadow for Magnate. Energone will shadow for Tool-Box."

"You run into trouble or see anything, you use your comm. We're not here to be cowboys," She looked out at the horizon. The time was near. Nodding she ordered, "Let's move out."

[~Adelle~] - Alpha - Like a Shadow: Can't Touch This!
--> Uniform <--

Adelle waited patiently for the rest of the Alphas to make their way out of the jet, sighing slightly as another fight broke out amongst their own ranks. It was getting tiresome, her own crystal blue eyes connecting with Bella as she remained silent, arms crossed over her chest. She was never one to really get involved in conflict, though she really hoped they would be able to work through their differences soon. One thing she really hated was being associated with a feuding team - that was the Omega's job.

Thankfully, Evelyn walked out of the jet, setting things straight with an authoritative voice. She gave the Alpha leader a smile, nodding to show that she understood where the woman was coming from and that she would do her best to represent the Alphas with class and dignity. What needed to be their main focus right now was the mission at hand. The blonde listened intently as they were divided into teams, their respective roles explained. Since she was going to be a shadow, something she was really hoping for considering her strengths, she nodded, giving Bella a soft smile before turning her attention back to the explanation. Of all the people she could be paired with, Bella was one of her top choices. While it sucked that she and Thomas were going to be apart, she knew their skills were needed elsewhere.

Giving her blonde beau one of her classic 'be careful' looks, she turned from him, moving through the crowd of Alphas so she was standing next to Siren, giving the girl a wink to show that she was ready to head out with the rest of the team. Without another word, Adelle's form faltered, molecules spreading out so that she was almost invisible in the fading light. While she was still technically there, once darkness fell she would be invisible to all but the most trained eye, those who knew what to look for. If she was going to be a shadow, she was going to do it right. If anything were to happen, she would be ready in the blink of an eye.

"Ready when you are," her voice sounded, knowing that her partner would be able to pick it up, even if it was as faint as a whisper.

Alpha: Siren & Shard - Alley Beside Old Kohler Building

User Image

Bella had said very little once leaving the jet, ignoring Narcissa's comment entirely, as they stood atop the large old Kohler building… She knew that Evelyn would becoming out in a few moments to assign teams regardless—So she merely watched and listened, her jade eyes peering off into the distance. She listened not only to her team, but to the Omega’s and the surrounding area. With her ability to manipulate sound, she could hear hundreds of noises and sounds all at once… And filter it so she understood everything as it happened. There were times that she got confused… Or heard something incorrectly, meshed with something else… But that was rare.

She looked over at Gideon when he got off the jet…Reflexively reaching for his hand, just one last time before they were separated. “They’re all… Scared. Down there… Going inside their homes or shelters before the sun sets… Barring the doors… Blocking windows. Some of them have weapons… Some of them are intending to patrol the streets too…Most are too frightened. Normally the residents here loiter the streets at all hours… So while we won’t be out of place exactly… It’s going to be interesting.”

“If you don’t hear anything over the comm—We slowly meet back here at 2AM. Try to avoid each other. And be careful!”
, she called to the Omega’s, her warm voice carrying over her teammates.

“And you… Especially you two, try not to get hurt.”, she voiced to Veritas…Even though she knew both Thorne and Veritas could heal… She hated that they had to be in pain. Her words to her beau were soft, and ever so careful. Barely a whisper, but she knew Evelyn would hear her as well…Their secret language. She leaned and kissed Veritas on the cheek as she heard was paired with Shard… Silently saying goodbye. Though she didn’t go directly to her blond friend, but stopped infront of Magnate. She’d heard his words… The cruel tone. The way he hadn’t spoken to her at all. He was angry with her, something was wrong—And worst of all he was avoiding her.

She stood there for a moment, but then shrugged her shoulders and in a fluid movement hugged him. Her voice was sad, heart breaking. “I don’t know why you’re angry with me… Whatever I did… I.. I’m sorry. I really don’t know. But stop letting whatever is wrong affect you like this… I care about you, and it hurts to see you regress. The newer Alphas need you to be you… Not whatever wounded, superior role you are playing right now...I need you to be you.”, she slipped away from his as silently as she’d come, an made her way over to Shard with a comforting smile as Thorne told them to move out. “You heard her darling… lets go.”

Siren walked to the edge of the building, facing the North part of mutant town—And held her hand out to Shard. The sun was just setting now. “I’ll keep you safe amour..”, she promised the other girl with a wink—And with that she tugged her off of the edge of the roof, using her sound waves to slow their descent as they disappeared into the darkness of the alley below.

Omega: Move Out - Patrolling the South Side

User Image

Narcissa ran a hand through her sparkling golden hair, and with some effort, swallowed the heavenly glow that exuded from her. She focused it deep, inside her core, so that she was barely illuminated at all. In the darkness, she was like a beacon unless she forced it not to be so. The sun was going down, and she had started to pale slightly with it—Her hair growing a little slightly less golden blond, and a little more platinum. The moon was half full… And it gave her a great deal of energy… But she already had more than enough in her reserves from her sun bathing that afternoon. Once all of the Omega’s assembled, after all of the ‘look-at-me’, ‘look-at-me’ students had gotten their last digs in—Narcissa began to explain the rest of the plan.

We have a larger group than the Alpha’s—So we were given a larger section that needs to be covered. The South side of Mutant Town isn’t known to be particularly friendly… But I doubt we’ll run into too many of them. Our uniforms do make us stand out a little. But I would sooner you stand out than get taken out by something so mundane as a gunshot wound to the chest…Just like, you might think the buddy system is retarded... But won't you be happy when your partner saves your tail?, she drawled lightly, looking from one person to the next. She was making sure they had their game faces on—That they were ready. The idea was to sprinkle some Omega here, and some there—Enough to look like they were just hanging out. They were really counting on the abductor being of…Inhuman origin, that wouldn’t notice fashion consistencies.

“I’ve taken the liberty to memorize the area and I do have a GPS— So if you should come across anything, tell me the street corner you are near over the comm and I’ll be there. If it is something, I’ll…signal the rest of you. Trust me. You won’t be able to miss it. We will be working distantly in two’s or three’s…I need to mingle experienced talent, with new students. If your partner disappoints you… There’s nothing I can do. I’ve organized you by powers, and tempers.

Blight and Rave… You two will follow one another. Watch each others backs—But don’t stay too close. Blight, use the shadows and alley ways to try and stay unseen.

Motega and Ammo… Ammo will be taking the lead, and Motega—You can use your abilities to keep an eye on her—As well as keep her from danger. Keep close, but stay out of sight.
”, Solaris pulled a small flare off of her utility belt and tossed it to Ammo. “If Motega has to teleport with you—Use that flare. Just pull the string. Keep is close, and close your eyes.”

‘”Knoxx, Nitemare, and Copycat… Knoxx will shadow you both. Ladies, pretend like you’re both just walking around after curfew. Pretend to be tipsy if you want… Just try to seem inconspicuous…”

“Gyro and Ceres
… The two of you can decide who would rather take point… But I would suggest staying together if you go towards the docks. Hold hands, pretend you are on a date--- Or shadow one another...”

“Eclipse and Kracken… Kracken should take point—Since you Eclipse, are best at staying unseen.”

“You two will be with me.
”, she told Victor and Varian. She left them for last for several reasons… The first being that they probably wouldn’t stand being separated. That, and she didn’t want anymore fighting. She was the only person she knew of on the team that could keep possibly them in line…She knew Kerrigan or Carlos wouldn’t be happy. But if they didn’t have any better ideas… This was how it was going to be.

“We meet back here at 2:00AM if you don’t here anything else on the comm before then. Do not use the comm link unless it is necessary. If you can help it , try not to engage anyone. I will be sweeping the perimeter of our area so I can stay as close to you as possible without being seen…If you need help, use the comm.”, she turned about and headed towards the stairs—Obviously dismissing them with a nod of her head. She wanted to get down the stairs before the Alpha’s blocked them up.Lets get going..

Omega: South Side - Time to Do what I do best

The trip there, and the prelude, had been interesting. More so than the actual mission they seemed to be having to do. For a moment back there, Shandra honestly thought that the Alpha's might end up with another hospitalization. Honestly, was it commit suicide week or have a near death experience? Both Reikon and Eli seemed to think it was.

But that was before they had even gotten to the city. Now, there really was going to be nothing but edgy moments and tense silence. How could there not be? They were in a town where people kept getting picked up and skinned, and those were the ones that returned.

Narcissa was quick to dish out orders and teams. She had to wonder what inspired her with the selections, because some of them didn't seem to mesh well. But she supposed that might have been the reason. Less meshing means more tension and innovation on the spot. That or partners getting snatched because someone didn't care as much as they should.

She was honestly just a bit happy over the fact that she knew her partner. And better, usually got along with him as far as she could tell. Power wise though...Shandra really would have to think outside the box if she had to "defend" herself and the area if she was working with Jacen.

She moved over to where Jacen - or Kraken she supposed he should be referred to out on the field - was and nodded with the "hi" look on her face as best she could manage.

"Where do you want to go first?" Shandra asked in a hushed voice when they started walking.

She'd counted, mentally, to about a minute before she slowly started to fade out of his senses so it wasn't so much of a shock as her just popping out of them.

"And you might be able to walk tomorrow after all."

Maddy caught the flare awkwardly with one hand, and nodded to Solaris. Dutifully, she stepped over to Motega and looked up at him as she stuck the flare in her belt. Hopefully he wasn't going to be raging the entire time, still sore over whatever had happened in the Hanger. She knew well enough that with the X-Men anything that can go wrong surely will. She was glad to be teamed with somebody who seemed to have some standing on the team, but she didn't want to be alone if something, however unlikely, were to happen. She had confidence in herself, but still became frustrated at times with her abilities.

She looked again at his bow and quiver, slinging her own bow over her shoulder. Feeling the need for some sort of formal introduction she stuck out her hand quickly and said "Maddy. Or Ammo, if you like."

Remembering to ask, she quickly said "Might I ask why I have to close my eyes?" Odd things ran through her mind with this. She had never teleported before, but she had never heard anything of the need to do this from those she heard speaking of teleportation.

Nina's attention was brought to the voice that spoke. Demanding the fighting to stop. Titling her head to the side she knew better then to cross this one, she seemed to carry the air of a leader around her. She watched the older woman's blue eyes go to Magnate and wonder what she was thinking. She quickly brushed aside her straying thoughts and put her focus on the mission. As Thorne started to mention the teams, she realized who she had been stuck with. Someone called Artic, with Thorne shadowing them. Hazel eyes got big, for she did not like the sound of that name. Artic was a name Nina would connect to snow or ice.

She did not like the idea of being stuck with someone who was a complete opposite to her when it comes to powers, but she was stuck. What the boss says, goes. Looking at the others in this large group, she wondered whose codename was Artic. "Not to be a bother, But who is Artic?"For once in her life she let the fact that she was unsure show through. She had yet to learn every-ones codenames, and new that if she didn't learn them soon it may be her downfall on this team. Her eyes traveled to Thorne, her head tilted to the side slightly as she waited for an answer. If he was pointed out to her she would probably recognize him from having seen him around or from the other mission. She was bad with names, especially when she didn't say them aloud to often when talking to the person.

Alpha - Rooftop - Partnering up:

Taking note of the new person he was a bit dissapinted that he wasn't teamed with slate do to the blending advantage it would have given them, however was sure it was probably do to them being new and thus more than likely needing to team up with one of the more veteran members.
He was glad about one thing though, that this member of his team, someone with a bit more authority it seemed, was more concerned with the same values he had seen so little of the past few hours. It was nice at least that they could have some order and co-operation in the higher up minds to keep the more... less savory of attitudes to a minimum.
"Eh? Energone?" he said quizzically, his eyes scanning across the group that had arrived only being able to pin names to a few faces.
It was a bit odd that being a newbie that he'd be alone, other than his shadow of course, but was certain that there was some reason and would take it as a sign of faith for him to handle himself... or so he hoped.

"Oi, which one o' you is Energone? Jus so I know who's watchin me back? Afta all, a spot o info on ya powers would probably be a good thing ta know jus in case we run inta any o' these... things" he said referring to the skin stealers. It was likely that they weren't human, alien of some nature if the tech he had examined told him anything, but knowing so little of there nature meant that they where basically walking blind until assaulted with no clue what kind of details or even behaviors to watch out for other than the deftly obvious of something peeling someones skin from them.

Omega: In The Dark

She couldn't wait to get onto the ground. Taking her dog with her on a mission wasn't very practical so being in the X-Jet left her blind. Her senses gave her some skills to compensate, but her hands still had to be a guide to where she needed to be while not touching the earth. Sunny would be the last person, though, to use her handicap as a crutch. She would do her job as it was needed.

Her partner would be Gyro which would be tough. If he had to use his power he more than likely would be off ground giving her somewhat of a blind spot. But that was okay. Take things as they come. This is only mission number one.

As she moved down to the ground, her heels made contact with the surface. Yes, Sunny was partially barefoot. She needed skin contact with the world around her to see. Her feet had built up a thick skin to compensate for her lack of protection. The sight her power created wasn't like normal site. She saw energies and forms. Those with stronger energy often had more detail. It was almost like the life force of each person she could see. And Gyro she could see fine.

"Ever been on a blind date?" She grinned to her teammate and winced at her own pun. Wrapping her arm around his she pulled him along wanting to get a move on this mission, "Come on, G, we gotta do this one together. If we're watching the sky, I'm useless. Until anything touches down, it's out of my vision range. Until Forge comes up with a handy dandy gadget for me, I'm your eyes when it comes to what's on the surface."

And it was true. Her ability told her more about what was touching down on the ground than most. Anybody here would have to look and count how many people were standing on this one block of land, but her powers told her without thought and without looking how many. This was her advantage. Ceres was one with the earth.

Omega: AX One-Shot! Kraken & Eclipse
User Image

Kraken shifted his weight back and forth, glancing around Mutant Town, USA. Stray cats slinking their way through alleys, Scrawny kids being shepherded into dilapidated shacks. He shook his head, before looking up as his codename was callled. Before he could Blink, Eclipse was next to him.

Jacen was a little relieved, being next to Eclipse or Solaris was probably the safest places to be in this town. "I don' know Red, maybe-" He looked up and to the right. "How 'bout that? Looks distinctly creepy enough." He was looking at a small open construction site that must have been abandoned years ago. Rusted I-beams sat stacked in corners, piles of dirt obscured the structure that was supposed to be built.

The mutant could feel Eclipse 'disappearing' next to him, losing sense of any vibrations from the ground she was walking on. He didn't care to look. Her powers were hard for him to understand, but they worked, and worked well.

"Think it's good to check?" he asked, already walking towards it curiously.

User Image Omega. Partnering up and heading out.

Forellen was getting paired with Rave and was responsible for as Evie had so aptly put it shadowing him as he walked on patrol. Forellen frowned very slightly at the thought thinking of just how that role should be reversed with Rave shadowing her. Her white hair made her stand out against a dark backdrop but she was sure she’d think of a way around that. Forellen trusted Cissa to know what she was doing even if she didn't know why. While she waited to go she quickly rummaged through the jets spare uniforms until she found something she could use to cover her hair, an old hat would do nicely for now. It wasn’t perfect but on short notice that was about the best she was going to get. So as she came back to the group to begin her patrol she was stuffing as much of her hair under the hat as she could. She did leave some of it out so Rave would be able to spot her if he needed to. She felt rather foolish but at least she’d blend into the dark a little better since Solaris didn’t want her to be seen...or she didn’t want her seen as often.

Everything was set and Forellen turned the volume on her comm. down to a quiet whisper that she’d be able to hear but anyone else wouldn’t unless they were sitting right on top of her and checked her other equipment to make sure she was set there. The check indicated she was good to go. She walked up next to Rave and nodded. “I’m ready whenever you are.” She said with a nod as the groups started to break up and spread out. She hoped that they wouldn’t come across anything but there was always a chance for trouble. Extreme caution would have to be taken and even though people were close together respectively and the senior members of the X-Men were on standby in case of trouble...it was not a comfortable situation.

Victor was livid. Absolutely beside himself as he boarded the jet with the others. Not only had his brother been assaulted by some deviant in the guise of Narcissa's lover Carlos, Narcissa herself had gotten into altercation with some worthless Alpha. He didin't know Narcissa to say such things and he didn't know Victor to say such things about her while in his presence. Had his princess not been present he surely would have acted in a far more savage manner.

He sat on the jet fuming, shaking with anger at what had just happened. The X-men prided themselves on teamwork and followed a strict no kill rule, Victor was no X-man. Even his expression that was normally as still and unmoving as if it were cut from diamond began to crack under the pressure of his emotions. He felt Narcissa's touch but instead of finding comfort in her touch he only found pain from remembering his weakness in that moment. He grit his teeth, burying the pain as deep as he could manage. It was all just too much. His blue eyes, like cut crystal, flashed as he looked to Narcissa for a split second. He had wanted to talk to her about his powers, their quirks and the nature of them. He didn't have the time and right now he didn't have the strength to shoulder the emotions.

His body hardened, grew cold to the touch as Narcissa's warmth flowed through. Within a fraction of a second he was adamant, in body and mind. His expression grew slack as a look complacency replaced his hardened expression. He normally hated to use his powers around the people he cared for but right now, he didn't hate anything. He didn't feel anything. He thought that this aspect of his powers was forged to protect but it wasn't so. A diamond heart served no other purpose than to smash the bonds he already possessed.

If Narcissa's came off as a barren wasteland when she assumed role of Solaris than surely Victor's voice came off as a desolate decaying rain forest, as devoid of life as Death herself would permit. The worlds from his mouth fell like hard sullen diamonds as he spoke to her after arrangements were made, "I wouldn't have it any other way."

His adamant eyes fell from her to his brother as he tilted his head in an agreeing manner. "It's a shame. I actually would have enjoyed following after Motega.", he said as he followed Narcissa to the staircase. He saw Carlos as a threat. The Dark Prince seeking to steal away his Princess. He would have to be dealt with.

As they made their way off to their location he couldn't help but to chime in with a series of questions. Common sense was lost to him right now and all filters were off as he spoke. "Princess, what exactly is your relationship with that boy? Have you two been intimate? Have you consummated your relationship yet?", he asked as his words scrapped like sandpaper at the bluntness of it. He didn't mean for it to come off like that but he genuinely wanted to know.

Alpha: A Bright Light with a Helluva Shadow

Well if that wasn't a grand entrance, "Nice Evie..." Reikon thought to himself. He hated being left in the dark about things especially about his girl but it was an important mission so there must have been some reason. It was pretty clever for Bella to give him the run around too...unless of course she truly didn't know. He didn't enjoy being lied to but somethings had to be done in specific ways, it was another thing Crusader needed to get used to.

He noticed a silver band on her arm and questioned what it was. Reikon wasn't certain but one thing he did know was that it wasn't part of her normal uniform or everyday attire. Whether it had anything to do with her sitting up front during the flight was left for a later discussion.

Crusader listened intently to what the Alpha leader had to say and grinned when she began teaming them up. It was always amusing to see people try to team themselves up before any orders were given out. It was even more amusing to think how soon most people forgot how things were ran.

He was paired with Amber, also known as Nightshade. Reik had minimal knowledge of her mutant powers but knew she had something to do with shadows and such. This could certainly be an extremely fun mission, especially since he was paired with what seemed to be someone who was experienced in the use of shadows. He began to brainstorm how they would use this to their advantage. Nothing like a good game of cat and mouse...especially when mouse is the one doing the hunting.

He caught a glimpse of Evie before turning his attention to his partner. She sent him a wink and in return he blew her quick kiss and drew a heart in the air. He grinned, turned around, and took a moment to find the Shadowmancer. It didn't take long as he spotted her almost immediately. He walked over next to her and threw her a grin, "Looks like the two from Ohio are going to be the one's catching the first skinner. Can you give me a little more about your powers Nightshade? What do you think would be a good idea when it came to using each others...Im bright *** candle and you're the monster in the dark..."
