A huge, twilight-lit valley located roughly a quarter-mile from Damascus. Unlike the land around it, the valley is composed of lush, green plants and trees. A wide creek runs along the west edge, and there is one watchtower on the north end, as well as on the south end. The creek is full of clean water and fish, and there also is a small stable located nearby. Beyond the valley is a view of a rough mountain range.

Zero dismounted the horse and took a breath of the cool, fresh air. The dappled light of the valley surrounded her, far away from the business of the market. She dropped to her knees besides the creek and rubbed some water against her tan, dirt-streaked face. She fell back into the grass, still wearing her assassin's uniform, and closed her eyes, listening to the birds chirp, feeling the sun's warmth...
A sudden cracking noise emitted from nearby. Zero's eyes flew open and her pinky finger immediately twitched, pulling her hidden blade out of its sheath. She rolled onto her stomach and stood, alert, looking in the direction the sound had come from.

Zero looked at the dog in surprise for a moment. "O-oh." she relaxed. "Your Sin's dog, aren't ya?" The hidden blade slid back into place with a clink. She sat up and scratched the dog's ears with her rough hands. "So buddie, where's your master?"

Sin walked out of the bushes and said "Right here..." in a dark way. "Al Mualim told me to give you this message Zero..." Sin pulled out a letter and tossed it to Zero.

((Um perhaps if there's an actual assignment for someone, than yes, you could go and tell them. and for now I've taken on the role of Al-Mualim as well.))

Lyra caught the letter in her left hand. "Thanks, Sin." she said wearily, breaking open the red wax seal. The cool breeze blew her brown hair about her face, obscuring her vision, and she quickly pushed her locks aside. After scanning the handwritten note for a moment, she sighed. "Oh, great."
She brushed the dirt off her creamy white uniform and stood, hoisting her leather pack over her shoulder. She uncorked a small flask at her hip and filled it with clean water from the stream; it was always smart to take some extra resources, not matter how closeby the target was set. But as she prepared, checking the sharpness of her blades, how much food she had packed, a stench of guilt hung over her. I am about to take another life. A cruel life, but a life nonetheless. I wonder, she thought as she left the valley and entered the dusty streets of Damascus. If the other assassins feel this way when they get an assignment.

Alec urged his horse along through the valley at a careful pace through the Deep Valley, remaining alert and wary the entire way. He knew there were probably guards of some sort roaming around nearby, since there usually were... so he was being sure not to ride too hard in order to make himself look more like an innocent traveler than a nervous assassin. He had managed to get his sister to agree to coming with he and the rest of the group to Acre, but she certainly wasn't happy with him. He didn't care much, though. He was doing a good deed for someone, and it made him feel good about himself. To him, that was all that mattered. I wonder how long it will be before we arrive in Acre... Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

(Dear lord it has been a long time since my last post)
Riokku pulled up right behind Alec. "Don't worry, from here it shouldn't be too far."

Anan held Aswad's reigns a little tighter as they traveled deeper into the valley, feeling very acutely the darkness that had gathered around the small party. The steady clip-clop of the horses's hooves on the beaten path reasured her slightly, but not by much. She turned to Saqr on her saddle, watching Mari's slight body move gently up and down with the movement of the Assassin's mount. "How much longer will it be until we get to Acre?" She asked, her voice sounding strangely louder as it echoed into the night, making her feel very small and the slightest bit afraid.

She had only been this far from home once while on a tour with her father. Thinking of her family made her heartsick and her face fell a little.

Maira whinied abruptly and Saqr hend up a hand for the others to slow and quiet their horses. His own horse was weaving her head back and forth in agitation and only a firm hold on her reigns kept her from bolting. Saqr did not tense in the saddle, rather kept his thighs firm on Maira's flanks to calm her. He had figured as much that their treck would not go unnoticed.

An arrow bolt whisked by above his head. A poor shot for the first of the bandits. His eyes sought the bow-wielder and a well-aimed throwing knife was suddenly protruding from the man's chest. The sniper fell from his hiding place on the valley's steep slope.

Saqr whistled loudly and Maira almost reared. This caught the others' attention. "Ride on to Jerusalem. Meet at the bureau!" He clutched Mari close to him and lashed the reins to propel his horse forward just as more arrows began to rain down on them from above.

"Yes Saqr! Come on we have to hurry to Jerusalem!" Riokku said and started moving with the group.

The valley had been a mistake, they should've taken a safer route even if it would take longer to get to Jerusalem. Saqr's thighs pressed against his mount urgently and the horse threw away all thoughts aside from fleeing the site. The horse's frenzy was enough that the assassin had to lean over the horse's neck and could feel Mari waking from the sudden frenzy of action and the crazed flight of the horse.

"It will be alright. I will get you out of here safely, Mari." He was sure she wouldn't remember him from before she'd fallen asleep but did not care. There were more pressing matters at hand.

Mari gave him a frightened look but kept quiet. He smiled to her for a brief moment and then grunted in pain. Red blossomed across his left shoulder and the girl's eyes grew wide. An arrow bolt stuck out the back of his tunic as Saqr slumped forward a little and lashed the reins again for Maira to hasten. Sweat broke out on his brow and he was gritting his teeth against the pain.

Anan had seen the arrow pierce the white cloak of her friend and threw a glance over her shoulder, trying to catch a fleeting glimpse of the snipers as Aswad thundered over the ground, his sides heaving as the black horse ran in long, ground-eating strides. She reigned Aswad up alongside the Assassin that had doubled-over on his horse's neck.

Anan saw Mari's eyes grow wide with fear and she tried to smile reassuringly at her little sister, but at that came out was a scared grin. "Are you alright?" She shouted over the pounding of their horse's hooves.

Saqr chuckled bitterly. "Hardly, but I don't have a choice but to ride on!" Saqr had to yell back over the hoofbeats. He sucked in a sharp breath as another jolt of pain shot through his chest. "Ugh, I'm sorry Mari if I'm scaring you. I do not intend to."

The jostling of the horse's stride was no help to his predicament but they'd nearly made it out of the valley with the horses of their companions at their heels. The hail of the outlaws' arrows had lessened and Saqr praised Allah that the high, stone walls of Jerusalem could now be seen in the distance.
