My gums are receding, not only are they receding but i can feed the bottom of one of my teeth.

What caused this? My ******** tongue ring.
Took that thing out immediately. And my labret, and the rest of them.

I am only 20 years old, and i think i may loose a tooth from that stupid thing.
I have no health insurance, and i have no idea what to do.

I just did a quick search on remedies for receding gums and I found the following answers... I hope they help:

Nutritional supplements such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin B complex, and vitamin C are sometimes prescribed for prevention of decay and repair of gum tissue.

Herbal Remedies for Receding Gums:
Many herbal remedies might help receding gums. However, a combination of tea tree oil and mineral rinses has proved to be safe, effective and easily accessible.
Tea tree oil works wonders as an herbal remedy for receding gums. It halts the bacterial infection at the root of the disease in its tracks, an essential first step on the road to healthy gums. And furthermore, application of tea tree oil will also eliminate tooth pain and sensitivity to heat and cold.
Apply the tea tree oil after your regular brushing. Rinse your toothbrush, apply a few drops of tea tree oil and brush normally. Next, take your finger or a cotton swab and rub the oil into your gums. To reach deep pockets of infection that your toothbrush may not reach, apply the tea tree oil to your dental floss.
Continue to apply the tea tree oil after every brushing until the infection is gone and your gums return to normal.
Another effective herbal remedy for receding gums is an herbal mouthwash before bed. While tea tree oil stops the infection, herbal mouthwashes strengthen and firm the gums, which will help them readhere to your teeth and return to their normal state.
Apply five to 10 drops of myrrh or propolis tincture to a glass of water. Gargle with the mixture for at least 30 seconds three times daily until your gums return to their normal state.
If you cannot find either tincture online or at your local health food store, a spoonful of sea salt in a glass of water also works wonders to improve gum strength.

I hope this helps... Good luck hun!

I don't want to be a downer... but...

If you haven't seen a dentist, how can you know for sure that your tongue ring caused this?

I know plenty of people who have had tongue rings for 20+ years, and the truth is, your tongue ring doesn't go near your teeth on an average basis unless you're being a tard and playing with it (which I do, but I wear plastic balls so it's not a threat).

I've even been told by my dentist that tongue rings should not pose a threat to your dental health as long as it isn't infected (which generally only happens if it isn't healed yet), if you're running it along your teeth, if you click it in your teeth, or if you wear metal balls constantly.

In short, receding gums can be caused by a number of things and the chances that it was your tongue ring are very low.

Are you:
getting proficient amounts of vitamins and minerals in your system?
brushing your teeth twice a day?
Rinsing with antiseptic mouth wash twice a day?
FLOSSING twice a day?

A lot of people skip flossing. It really does them in.

At that, you may have over crowding with your teeth, or shifting teeth.

Have your wisdom teeth come in or have you taken them out yet? If they aren't out, and they haven't cut in, they could be the culprit.

I highly don't your tongue ring is the culprit. You need to come up with the money somehow to get a dental check up. If anything take out a loan from the bank or make some kind of payment plan with the dentist office because really, not having healthcare is one of the most stupid things to jeopardize any part of your health over.

If you absolutely cannot get a loan or work out a payment plan, try to get someone to lend you the money.

Honestly, everyone needs to see a dentist twice a year.

Why am I saying this? Because after I graduated high school, I continued on to college (and since I'm still a dependent of my parents I can still ride on their health care as long as I'm a full-time student) but I skipped seeing my dentist for three years. That's 6 check-ups I should have gone too.

I felt my teeth getting extremely soft and it felt like they were breaking and were going to fall out and I was scared that my tongue ring was causing it. I waited until the very last minute to go, and it turned out that five of my teeth had just dropped because I shocked the nerves. I could feel the roots of those teeth and I had to have my bite adjusted so they could stop being irritated by my bottom teeth and go back into my gums.

Topping that I have ulcerated gums. my top gums on both sides are ulcerated and white.

My dentist said that oral piercings do not actually pose a high risk.

Find a way to get to a dentist, even if you have to go in debt, because they're the only one that can help you.
