-copied from RE Wikia-
George A. Romero, who previously directed an ad campaign for Biohazard 2 (Resident Evil 2) in Japan in 1998, was considered to script and direct Resident Evil but was rejected by Capcom. Capcom Producer Yoshiki Okamoto told the editors of "Electronic Gaming Monthly" that "His (Romero) script wasn't good, so Romero was fired". Romero later stated that the rejection of his script was due to producer Bernd Eichinger. Everyone else associated with the pre-production apparently liked the script. Romero, back when he was still signed on for the project, stated in an official appearance in Universal Studio's Talk City chat room that he had his secretary play the entire game through and record the gameplay so he could study it as a resource. [edit] Plot
* The Spencer Estate incident was intended to be filmed but was scrapped after Romero was rejected. * In Romero's unproduced script, Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield were chosen as the lead characters, and were involved in a romantic relationship. * Many of the games' characters were included in Romero's script including Barry Burton, Rebecca Chambers, Ada Wong, and Albert Wesker, who were similar in character but different in appearance or role to those in the game itself. i.e. Jill was the captain of S.T.A.R.S. rather than Wesker, Chris was not member at all, instead being a Native-American man living on a nearby farm, and Barry was going to fill the same role but portrayed as an African-American. * The ending would have approximated what happens in the games, but two other characters would have been confirmed dead: Barry was going to be shot dead by Wesker, and Wesker would meet his end when the Tyrant impales him and severs his head in a closing door. This would've made a better RE movie, I swear. Does the first movie have any RE charries in it? NO. Not even Wesker. Does the second? ...a lil'. Still no Wesker. Does the third? Neeeyah... and THEN there's Wesker.

Huh... Romero is my favorite horror director, however; I'm not so convinced that it would have made an incredibly interesting zombie movie...

Just read the script Lenne. It would've made a far better movie than what they churned out...

From what I've seen of L.A. RE movie, the only thing that I saw was from the games... was the Umbrella Corp. That was it. And that glass-swirl with a blue light in a vial, claiming to be the "T-Virus".

Evil Lady Lystra Just read the script Lenne. It would've made a far better movie than what they churned out... Read it before I posted, dear. RE movies have been awful. True it would have been... better, but it didn't really have what it takes to catch my interest. (personal opinion. don't bite my head off)
