This is the code I know:

There is no peace, there is anger.
There is no fear, there is power.
There is no death, there is immortality.
There is no weakness, there is the Dark Side.
I am the heart of the darkness.
I know no fear, but rather I instill it in my enemies.
I am the destroyer of the worlds.
I know the power of the Dark Side.
I am the fire of hate: All the universe bows before me.
I pledge myself to the Darkness:
for I have found true life in death of the light.

I have heard the one shown here, but it is rather abstract. This is the one I prefer as it better highlights the Sith lust for Power and Strength and their use of the Dark Side to accomplish their goals.

Yes, Power lust is one of the most defining prospects of the Sith... but how they go about it, that is what sepparates the masses.

This point is well seen. Some Sith are more abstract and weave intricate plans that will only do what is necessay to achieve their goals. While others will eliminate everything that poses even the most minute threat. Some just go overboard out of lust for slaughter. While all of them are not necessarily evil, they still do not follow the accepted path of virtue and honor that is the light side. Then again, societal views on what is right and what is wrong are often perverted by the ruling body, so how can one really know the truth.

And as far as friends go, it is a nice thought, but they can be a liability and a weakness that most Sith will try to avoid. Instead they search out loyal followers that they can bend and manipulate to their will.

I'm glad that you brought up the "friends" topic I wrote about. That was not intended in the sense that as Sith you should make friends... but rather - be friendly... with hidden intent. If your enemy knows that you are his/her enemy... they will set up a barrier/protection against you. Study your moves and tendencies. And then any sign of your attack, will most likely be faultered. So I say to you... "be a friend", and your enemies, will never see it coming.

As for your translation of the Sith dirivitives = I agree. I especially like your use of the term "necessarily evil". Jedi do not believe in necessary evils and therefore are subject to longer more tedious ways of production that lead them to their ultimate goal of GOOD and COMPASSION... but with a high price: TIME & ENERGY. As Sith, you do not have to suffer this obsticle. As Sith, you can perform whatever is necessary for your ultimate goal with no thought of the means... it is the product that matters. Everything else was just a memory.

It is as they say; History is written by the victorious. If you are victorious in your efforts, than your means to the current end are easily justified. If you are vanquished your motives are demonized and lyonized. This is a necessity for any ruling power to do, even the Jedi. It is realized by all that having the support of the masses is what true power is, because if the masses trust in your words and follow you, then any foe that may appear will be overwhelmed by your loyal subjects.

The whole "Be a friend" philosphy is the correct one indeed. It worked to great success for Palpatine. However, using this strategy effectively also requires that the user be a master at manipulation... Not all people are this cunning

I will be nobody's errand boy. The power I acquire will be my own. It will come to me by my own right, not becuase somebody has given it to me. Something given has no value; these things must be earned. You must work and strive for them, you must see your will through, or you will never amount to anything. Furthermore, to be given power is to become a puppet of the person who has elevated you to such a position. You will have no freedom, no will of you own; you will exist solely to serve and further the motives of your master. And a master is the last thing I desire. I value my freedom.

"It is indeed a shame your definition of apprenticeship is so onesided. A puppet is somthing i do not need. I have my,..*speaks through clentched teeth* my,..toys. Puppets are only made by those*smirks approveingly at him.* That are weak...You are not. I sense great knowledge within you and this alone will lead to the respect you so desire whether or not you serve, with me.(not exactly for me.) I appriciate your sense of individuality but if you remain only a learner for lack of advanced , influence... your voice is quieted for that is all you ever areto be. And to silence your "voice" would be quite a... pity." *gestures formally for him to join her for a walk. and places her mask over her face as she leaves the training quad.*

Yes. Your arguement has merit.

(Had Hitler been victorious... his ideals would be justified)

Being Sith, Manupulation should be one of your presiding skills... I assumed this when writing "be a friend". For those who do not understand this dynamic element... perhaps an excersize of some sort...

This is true, and it is a dominant skill for my RPing purposes and such. However, as of late, many misconceptions have led people to think that Sith are just brutal murderers who have no real power of mind. This is because the younger Sith have had a more intensified Bloodlust than those of old, and they do not understand what true power is.

Yes. Those who view the Sith as an entity solely as a conduit of evil, are indeed foolish... I like to relate actions that I've read from history books and the news.

example: The War in Iraq - I would define as a Sith action. We all know the true intentions behind our FREEDOM FIGHTING. It is a quick way to gain oil and we took it.

- Dropping the atomic bomb on Japan. It was a quick and distructive way to settle a dispute. In the end it afforded us the Japanese surrender. We also had the chance to try out our new technologies.

In both cases. We view them as a necessary evil.

If anyone else could give a good example, I'm sure it would bring even more clarity.

I have an exemplary example, although it is doubtful that it will be met with agreement. You have already mentioned Hitler as an example to my point that history is written by the victorious. Hitler did believe he was acting for the best interests of Germany, however, the actions he took to liberate Germany from the Treaty of Versailles are often considered the motivations of a power hungry man. In reality though, Hitler was trying to restore Germany to her former glory, the glory it enjoyed before the Roman conquest of Europe that had been forgotten for ages. And, as with most Sith ambitions in the Star Wars universe, he was thwarted and Lyonized, made to look evil.(although in his case, his other actions just might ensure that he truly fits the bill of being evil)

Actually, I whole heartedly agree. The only reason (beside the fact that he supported religious genocide) we percieve him to be "Evil" is because we are molded to believe so. Yes, and Adolf did delve deeply in the Arian mythos, which is why he was obsessed with perfection and supremicy, which is not a "sin" by any means. But how he went about accomplishing his goal... it was rather brazen.

The Final Solution was the only real evil thing he did, and few know why he did it. He did it out of hatred for himself. Being part Jewish, he thought that if he could eliminate his heritage, he could make himself a more perfect person and thus fit into the master race he was trying to create by proxy...

(On a side not; why are we like the only 3 ppl here who actually post on a semi-regular basis, do others sign up and ignore it afterwards? I see Kenshin post every now and then, but being the financial backer he is under no real obligation to do so, and the only three regulars I see are you me and Heathan... just an observation)
