Do you end up getting stereotyped a lot?

i have gotten these questions a LOT before when people actually find out i'm gay:

Q: "ooo where do you like to shop? we should tottaly go shopping" - A: "Nowhere i hate shopping. Unless its for antiques or random electronic devices. oh or movies or violent video games! twisted "

Q: "Wanna come over and watch some chick flicks?" - A: "only if there are zombies in it. or failing that lots of gore"

Q: "what hair products do you use?" - A "i havan't showered in three days..."

and so on...

so do you suffer from the stereotype brought on by homosexuality? do stupid people expect you to act a certain way just because your gay?

or do you fall under the stereotype rather well? (nothing wrong with that. if thats truely who you are as a person more power to you. just don't act feminine because its expected of you)

Thats actually funny because my friends really do it but it dont bother me cause personally they are my friends so straight or not I would do it for them. But that does get annoying that people expect gays to have style and such or that being associated with the gay life style is also being associated with nasty stuff (deceases) i hate that

I feel bad now because I do sterotype gays a whole lot. I mean, of course I understand that not all gay guys are going to fit the societal image we give them, but that doesn't stop me from thinking how cool it would be to have a gay guy friend to go shopping with! Why can't I just do that with any old friend? No idea... I am warped.

But yeah, I get what you're saying, and personally, I think it's way cooler that you like violent video games and zombie flicks! twisted Way more awesome than fricken shopping!

I knew this guy who was gay and everyone sort of knew before he came out because of how he acted... So the sterotype isn't completely unfounded.

But I also have a straight friend who everyone is just so sure is gay (cept me). So yeah, you're right. People need to not just assume things and ask about them. That's kinda dumb.

it is dumb but sometimes asking doesnt help cause almost every homosexual one time in their lives lied about it but it really matters what your personal views are. I dont like going shopping cause I never have money but yet I would go with my friends ( I look at at as time with my friends) I always try to find the more positive view of anything (even tho sometimes there might not be one)

Oh I didn't mean you should just walk up to someone and be like, "Hey! Are you gay???" I meant you shouldn't assume things about someone who is gay and then ask questions based off of a stereotype.
Same goes for any stereotype really.

no one asks me those questions sweatdrop and i kinda like girly things but i hate shoping 2 but i like chick flics and i use dove for shampoo <3 XD

it makes my hair soft and shiny i have really long hair cuz i hate hair cuts my hair is to my knees XD i need a hair cut but i hate ppl touching me :S

It usually doesn't bug me much either.. Its just sometimes it gets when some people expect you to act a certain way.

oh yeah a lot of gay guys brought this stereotype onto the rest of us.. its not bad or anything but i see some people who let their sexuality change who they are as a person. its fake and its wrong a lot of the time.
