What are the worst books you've ever read?? There are tons of books I've only read the first chapter of then stopped because I didn't like them. But the worst ones I can think of are:
Postcards by Annie Proulx. Had to read it at college. It was so boring and confusing too...didn't give a damn about any of the characters...felt like it was a complete waste of paper lol.
Labyrinth by Kate Mosse. It's a bestseller yet I think it's wrote really badly. I kept checking the cover to see if it was a kids book 'cause the writing was so basic...kids books like Harry Potter are written alot better than Labyrinth.

(This topic might trigger off a lot of disagreements, but anyways)
Ice guard by Steve Lyons: The guy has written much better books then this, but the way it's all structured and made is like he put no love into it. It was putting one thing aside for another and the actions were kept so basic. Honestly its even shorter then all his other books. He really didn't put any real effort into this one.

Twilight: Did not suck me in at all. The preface was great but then it got so boring. And it took too long to get to the point.
Another one I don't remember the name to, it was so boring and the characters were so whiny. It really is a peice of crap.

Wizard's first rule: I got about 100 pages in before i did not want to read the book anymore and had to force myself to finish.
Maximum Ride: Final Warning: This book almost ruined the whole series for me. A Horrible plot, very little action and what action there was is pretty bad, and the villain was a waste of time.

I know this might start a fight... but I really really hated 'Catcher in the Rye.' I felt no connection to Holden at all, at didn't care about him or anything he was going through.

I didn't like The Crow. I liked the first and second books (The Naming and The Riddle) but The Crow I was bored to sleep with....

The worst book I've ever read was "Blonde Geisha". Sounded really interesting, but the characters were bland, attitudes were.. well, bland, along with almost everything else. Bleh!

I started reading Incubus Dreams, by Laurell K Hamilton, and didn't make it through the first hundred pages. I tried, but... man. She's awful. Then I found a community of people who have read enough of the books to know this is a consistent problem in her writing -- which has gone progressively further down hill as time has passed -- and now I'm amazed the woman is still published. ._.* Her writing is terrible.
I'd liked The Looking Glass Wars, by... Beddor is the last name, can't remember the first, and rather liked it -- but the sequel, Seeing Redd, was kinda terrible. The characterization had gone pretty flat, and instead of Redd being a scary megalomaniac, she'd been reduced to one of those bumbling idiot type villains. Beddor lives in L.A., so maybe the fake-ness got to him. Or, possibly, he'd rather be writing it as a kids' movie. It comes off as kinda trite and shallow. The first book seemed promising; the second book... considerably less so.

I had the same problem with Seeing Red I loved The Looking Glass Wars but couldn't really get into the second one.

I know this one is a classic and I will most likely get a lot of disagreements but one of the worst books I've ever read is "War of the Worlds" by H.G. Wells. The way it was written was very interesting, but after the first chapter I just wanted to sleep. Well sci-fi isn't one of my favorite genres to begin with.
