EDIT: Title fixed to suit the nature of the thread better, and a few minor edits underlined.

I don't know if this belongs here, but it is another kind of book and writing.

I want to know what the best fanfiction you've ever read on the internet has been. Who was it by, where is it posted, when did you read, what was it about, what was great about it. And the fanfiction has to be completed. I know tons of fiction that was never finished and the bit that is written was wonderful, but for this thread, the story must be complete to be considered a book. The fanfiction also should be of quality that it could be (there's some real crap printed out there, so don't be afraid to post anyways!) a printed book by a real publisher.

The most memorable fanfiction I've ever read was about Pokemon, mostly because I was obsessed with Pokemon for years and since the TV show was so kiddish that fanfiction improved it. So all my favorite fanfiction is about Pokemon sweatdrop

Pokemon MASTER by Ace Sanchez
If I had to give this one a rating, it would be R. So kiddies, if you aren't allowed to watch rated R movies, stay away from this.

Pokemon MASTER is about the dark future of the world in 11 years. All your old favorites now have elemental powers and regenerating cloaks! The Pokemon League has turned evil and now oppresses all the land. Can Ash and the Rebellion save everyone?

I read this years and years ago. On fanfiction.net, it says the fic was last edited back in 2001. So... It's been awhile. I saved this one onto my hard drive so I can love it forever.

BadgeQuest by Cyberwraith9
This fiction stays true to the heart of Pokemon and most of the show's good nature. So kiddies, feel free to read.

This one is about Ash, Misty and Brock. Ash has beaten the League and become a master. Now he decides he wants all the badges in the other leagues to be the real greatest Pokemon master in the world. Ash's Pokedex, Dexter, talks and has a personality. And America is real and Ash goes there too to collect the Hidden Machines (HMs).

Order:
1) BadgeQuest
2) BadgeQuest: If At First You Don't Succeed
3) BadgeQuest: The Hidden Machine Saga
4) BadgeQuest: The Big Goodbye

There's also a movie, but it's not complete. I might try spamming the Cyberwraith9 to get them to finish the movie. The BadgeQuest series is a crowning achievement for them and must be topped off with a completed movie.

This one I would have read back around 2001 as well. It's also been awhile.

Those are the only two complete series that I can think of that deserve to be here. I know of some good non-series fanfiction and uncompleted series. Ask me if you want to hear of those.

I'd say this is purely subjective.
I haven't read either of those but I'm sure they're wonderful, I just think its a bit presumptuous to say that they're the best on the net.

I would argue that Kizmet's Dragon Ball Z fan fictions are the best on the net.

Or that Blank101's Dark Luke trilogy are the best Star Wars fictions on the net:
Into the Storm
In Shadows and Darkness
At the Brink of Darkness and Dawn (still in progress)

It's supposed to be subjective >.> And I want to know the best fanfiction that you yourself has read, whatever the show, movie, book or whatever. There's some really grammatically horrid fics that I've read that were so entertaining and wonderfully cheesy and newb that I will always remember them. But I went ahead and dedicated this thread to completed fics that are of higher quality so the story that they're trying to tell is completed, has a bit more substance behind it and we're able to analyze it.

If you really wanted to say that My Immortal by Tara Gilesbie ( also known as XXXbloodyrists666XXX) is the best fanfiction you've ever read, then you could... I'll at least laugh at you and ask for specifics of how My Immortal, which has the title of the worst fanfiction ever, is the best and wonder how much fanfiction you've actually read. I would proceed to tell you how it makes my eyes bleed, want to cut myself and pull my organs out of my ribcage.

I don't see how this thread is much different than the thread about what will be a classic in literate in a 100 years. That is purely subjective too. You won't know what is considered a classic until a 100 years from now, when we'll all be dead.

(The Pokemon MASTER on fanfiction.net has over 300 reviews on every chapter. So it's definitely part of some of the best Pokemon fanfiction out there. BadgeQuest has about 40, but it's still good.)

I'll have to look at the fanfiction you have posted sometime. I used to like to read DBZ fanfiction. Those were the good ole days.

My apologies.

That's okay. The thread title doesn't go with what the thread is really for. I shall change that 3nodding I was also trying to stir up some trouble and see what would happen by posting a thread for fanfiction in a book guild. It's fun to see people's reactions and get defensive.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 10, 2009 5:16 pm

Well, ya know, fan fiction is really only a hop, skip and a jump from books. So I don't think it would stir up all that much trouble. But you are right about the defensive thing.

I did go "Oh no she didn't" when I saw your proclamation of what was the "best" fan fiction.

Fans are terrible. sweatdrop

Hehehe. Think of this as a place to gush over the fanfiction you love and try to convince us to read because of how amazing it was for you. Not a place to shout how so-and-so's fanfic is the best and should the number one seller in the world and yaddy-ya.

Well, if there were some teachers or nazis in the guild I'm sure I would have started doomsday. I've talked to quite a few people who think that fanfics are just garbage and in a completely different universe than printed and "original" literature.

There's nothing new under the sun and some published books make my eyes bleed horribly. A lot on the best sellers list make me want to bash my head against a wall because of how simple, hollow and commercial they are. It's like they pulled themes out of a hat and slapped them together into a book to write in a month for a publisher.

Well, here's a plug for one of the only cross-overs I actually like:

The Winner is a Loser

Captain Jack Sparrow vs. Captain Kirk (TOS ver.) Which loves their ship more...?

Now that sounds interesting.

I sort of laugh anytime someone says that there's new things in the fantasy genre and other fiction. There's really not, even all the published stuff is stories and characters used over and over. I read an interesting article called Hold On, I've Seen This Before that says that StarWars, Harry Potter, Star Trek and the Matrix are the same story. It's interesting to see their break down of the movies and the similarities.

SW, HP, and the new Star Treck movie I will agree. They are the same. I've enver seen the Matrix all the way through so I'm not gonna comment on that, but yeah. Very true.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 10, 2009 6:12 pm

I haven't read HP or seen all the movies, but I love Starwars, Star Trek and the Matrix. I actually didn't realize how similar they all were until I read that article. I like enjoying my mind melting movies and not thinking too hard about how they're all so alike. I do that more with books.

I read that crossover fic. Very nice biggrin I forgot that Jack sold his soul for the Black Pearl. He needs some kind of counseling for running away every time there's danger. His "woman" must feel neglected and abandoned. I know I would.

I knew that SW, HP and ST (the new movie) were all very similar. But then again, I like to analyze and dissect my favorite movies, books, TV shows and games. Its sometimes fun to expose and then try to fill in plot holes or work out refrigerator logic.

Its kinda like a game. smile

Animus, a Harry Potter fanfic. I read it years ago, and am amazed I actually remembered the name.

A warning, for those who might click: I think it gets sexually graphic, and there is a bit of violence.
