Since school started for most of us already...
What is everyone taking this year? What are your expectations? Let's hear it!
I'll go first.
Advanced genetics: a potentially interesting topic, but I've heard bad things about the class. The prof is nice when you go talk to her, but her lecturing ability...could be better (shy, quiet, monotonous voice.) The fact that the class takes place at 8:30 AM certainly doesn't help. Nevertheless, there is a coffee shop in the building, and there's a 5 minute break in the class xd There's going to be a lot of reading involved, and so far it's been a pain in the a**...and we've only had one class. I think it's going to be rough.
Good: coffee.
Bad: huge term paper.
Physical chemistry (thermodynamics): ...the one I dropped last fall redface Since I'm not very fluent in mathemathese, this one will most likely be a disaster, again, except this time I won't have the wonderful "withdraw" option. I just hope I can find a tutor and/or a miracle. Or that the class average is so bad that the prof scales up the marks. He's generally a nice guy, so that helps, even if I'm not very good in the class.
Good: I've seen some of the material before.
Bad: I didn't understand said material.
Immunobiology: Mixed feelings. I heard that the prof is FREAKIN' HARDCORE and if you goof off/fall behind, you're screwed. He seems like a nice guy so far, though, and I think I've sucked up successfully after just one class whee I'm really looking forward to this class--the material just seems awesome.
Good: no midterm.
Bad: very time consuming.
Eukaryotic cell & molecular genetics lab: 5 hour lab. The extent of my attention span is one hour, and that's on a good day. This lab is going to be brutal. I've had the prof for an other lab before and, while she is super nice and helpful, her lab reports and assignments are MONSTROUS (and worth 75% of one's mark.)
Good: no final exam!
Bad: LOOOOOOOOOOOONG.
Sooo, what about everyone else?
